"Okay, Becky. You said your budget was $2000 but clearly you've fallen in love with this Swarovski bedazzled, fit-and-flare, ivory organza piece by Pnina Tornai that will cost an arm, a leg, and your first born child. Are you saying yes to the dress?" Tears are shed. Financial responsibilities are tossed out a window. Champagne is popped. This is pretty much how I imagined my Kleinfeld experience to be like after my copious Say Yes to the Dress binge watching sessions. And yes, it was every bit the luxurious fantastical experience that every bride wants to experience. Professional black-clad consultants, dressing rooms the size of my bedroom, silk bath robes, Kleinfeld-branded bottled water!!! You're gonna feel like a millionaire barbie bride until the price tags make you crash back into reality. The logistics of the appointment are pretty standard. A consultation is booked online or on the phone. They do a great follow up system where they text reminders. You are greeted by a consultant (in my case, the consultant also had an assistant, so I really felt important). She asks you about your venue, style preferences, whether you've been to other dress viewings, and price point. You and your friends are then invited to scour the showroom for styles you like. The difference starts when you notice there's a whole lot more "couture" in their selections and the price tags are going up to the high 4, even 5 digit mark. Oh boy. Of course, you're just picking out dresses "for the style" so the consultant knows what to reference. But a word of advice, despite their large selection, most of them start at $3000 so if your budget is under that, you're facing limited choices. Afterwards, the consultant picks gowns from their backroom to bring to your personal fitting room. Oooooooooh boyyyyy. The places I've been to before, you're lucky to have a curtain, and your friends and family are just sitting outside. At Kleinfeld, you're led down an immaculate hallway to an even more immaculate fitting room and given a silken bathrobe to cover your shame. Then you do the famous catwalk, past all the other bride-to-be's and into your little area. It's quite an entrance. Kleinfeld is also the only place where they gave me shoes and a veil to complete the look. While nothing excited me or my bridal party, my consultant, Elizabeth, was absolutely lovely and pulled what she could given my limited budget. She was very attentive to what I wanted and in the end, she assured me I'll find the right dress, even if it's not at Kleinfeld. There are 2 times where you will feel like an actual princess bride: 1) at your actual wedding 2) at Kleinfeld. While I may not have had my Say Yes to the Dress moment, the appointment here was an experience in itself. If you're getting married, come to Kleinfeld. Just do it. Even if you feel like you won't get what you want here. Do it to say you did it. (96/100) - 2017

So glad I had the Kleinfelds experience! Booking an appointment was a little difficult online but they have a great follow-up process when it comes to confirming your booking. The bridal salon is very spacious and beautifully laid out. My consultant was Nicholas: very polite, great fashion sense and really listens to what you want :) Surprising fact: although many would assume the dresses are super expensive, they have many dresses within the $2k-$4k range! Also, if you're slightly larger (like myself) than a size 2, never fear as they carry sample sizes that fit like a glove!

While the excitement is still fresh from my Black Friday experience at Kleinfeld, I figured I'd write a review. First of all, I didn't even know there was a sale at Kleinfeld in GENERAL so when I heard about this sale I quickly phoned for an appointment. I was expecting all the slots to be filled, but to my surprise there were still plenty open. Since it was Black Friday, only sample dresses are put out for sale at ridiculously cheap prices ($199 or $499 according to the website). I was told in advance that two brides are assigned one consultant, so I thought why not invite my other friend who's also a bride. Showed up this morning, 5 minutes before my 11am slot. We saw majority of women leaving with dresses so we were feeling anxious that all the good dresses have been sold. Andria, our consultant came to get us, and she quickly gathered our jackets so that we could start browsing. We only had 1 hour so we were on a mission!! Mind you, this is my absolute FIRST time looking and trying on dresses. It was a bit overwhelming at first looking at the array of dresses. But it was arranged by price point. They had some dresses available at $1000-$10,000 I believe but I did not go near those. I grabbed 4 dresses that I thought would suit my figure. Went to our fitting room (which was SO spacious) and tried on my first dress. I was surprised that these dresses actually fit me since they were all a size 12. The second dress I ALSO loved but I felt more comfortable in the first one (it sucked everything in). Third and fourth did not suit me at all. My friend and I both said YES TO THE DRESS today and we are both proud to say that we scored our wedding dress from Kleinfelds for 90% off!!!! Thanks to our consultant Andria for being so amazing and patient with us.

Six months, seven boutiques, and over 35 dresses later, I finally said "yes" to the dress at Kleinfeld. I'm also a lazy "bridechilla" so dress shopping has been, by far, the most excruciating part of wedding planning. I wanted a sleek and modern dress with sleeves. Easy peasy, I thought. But I was wrong. So very wrong. While there were a few that came very close, there was always a "but" - a tiny detail that needed to be added or changed. So, since this ain't my first rodeo, I went into Kleinfeld with my expectations in check. I went alone and was a teensy bit late (I got lost on the seventh floor amongst the KitchenAid mixers) but I finally found the unmistakable sign. The decor is chic and understated and the fitting rooms are huge and well-lit. My consultant was Mackenzie and we hit it off from the get go. She's warm, patient and has fantastic taste. I told her about our venue and my favorite designers whose dresses were far beyond my budget (Reem Acra, Zuhair Murad, etc.). I was a bit overwhelmed by the selection so I asked her to pull dresses for me instead. And she nailed it. Even on the hanger, it was beautiful and dramatic... and it had beautiful sleeves! I almost cried at the sight of the sleeves alone. It can be intimidating at first since Kleinfeld is an institution but there was no air of snootiness, unlike some of the upscale boutiques I've been to - in fact, everyone was lovely and helped make the process fun and comfortable. I felt bad for going over my allotted one hour limit but Mackenzie happily brought in more dresses for me to try. When I finally returned to buy the dress (this time with a large group), there were hugs, champagne and tears. I've since met other brides-to-be and told them to hightail it to Kleinfeld. The service was exceptional. So try to schedule an appointment during a weekday, keep an open mind and trust your consultant.

I am a plus size bride, wearing 18/20 street size. I stated this on the forum when booking my appointment and when the employee asked upon entrance. Although sizing had been discussed, a lot of the dresses I was handed in the change room were sizes 10-14 and I was not able to try them on. Either they wouldn't fit over my hips, or my arms wouldn't fit in armhole with the strap, or my arm just wouldn't fit into the sleeve. Trying to squeeze into a dress that's half your size in a dark changing room without assistance is not a good start. At one point I told the employee that one of the dresses I wasn't able to pull up, and she seemed surprise "oh really? Is the zipper undone all the way", I said I would double check, but yes it was undone all the way. I just don't think the size 10 dress was ready for my size 20 hips. Another dress was sleeveless but had a high illusion neckline and I was excited to try on, however my upper arms were not fitting into the arm holes as it was a size 14 and my upper arms are larger. I told the employee this from the dark room behind the curtain and her response was simply "how about we move to the next one then". Which was sad because I thought this one would look so good if only in a better size. At this point I was starting to feel that same dreaded feeling I use to get when trying to buy name brand clothes in middle school. Hadn't felt that shame in a decade. I stuck my head out and asked if they had any plus size dresses, as these tags seemed to be 10-12 or 14 and I am usually about a 20. She pointed to the rack we got the 14 from and said that was the plus size rack. When I was able to get my body into a dress it was still a size 16, the neckline area never fit and it was nearly impossible to "use my imagination on". Since the detailing didn't line up and it was making indents. There was one dress I did like. However it was a zipper back and I was told the "zipper is slippery" so it couldn't be done up. I don't know much about how bridal shops use dress clips but she didn't use any and barely did anything. She held the open back together for about 30 seconds as I looked in the mirror then walked away. The dress had sparkly spaghetti straps that were very long so they dropped and curved a bit. My mom was trying to get a photo so I could look at it later but as the employee wasn't doing much to make the dresses look as they would if they fit I was trying to pull the straps at the back so it would appear tighter and then holding my arms down so the bodice wouldn't fly open. Ugh I honestly felt like crying when I was in the dark changing room, I felt lost. I was barely getting any assistance. She wasn't helping the dresses look as they would once fitted, I felt helpless. Not being able to fit into dresses and not having any dresses my size even when My size had obviously been discussed made my confidence drop and made me feel ugly and gross. Which is definitely not what a wedding gown shop should do.

It has many incredibly gorgeous pieces of clothing you can wear to an evening out or a special gala. I didn't even realize it was a bridal store till i peered behind the curtained area. The service greeted all of us and made sure if we had a question, they were more than happy to come help. The front area is filled with clothes from my favourite brand For Love and Lemons and also another brand called Keepsake. I would say both go for the luxury, refined, and yet stunning designs that would draw the eyes. If bridesmaid were able to wear these, I think there would be zero arguments on rewearing the dress. There is also lots of accessories and home items that can turn a dull home to something with a bit more indulgence. I didn't come here for a wedding but I did see an appointment while I was there and there was a definite ease and attention to detail in this calm space. Seeing everyone smile would probably be a great indication the appointment was going well. If I ever need a gorgeous evening wear that captures people's attention while still being refined, I'll return here.

However, I am happy to say I really enjoyed my bridal shopping experience here. First of all, the store itself is stunning. I also love how they offer a curated selection of wedding related accessories as well such as gorgeous silk dressing gowns, bridal jewelry, clutches, bridesmaid gifts, etc. The pricing is also reasonable in my opinion, with dresses in the $1000 - $5000 range. Our consultant, Hallie (spelling?) was very sweet and helpful. I really like how they allow you to select five gowns to try first by clipping a clothespin to the top of the hanger of the dresses you are interested in trying on. They have large racks of stunning dresses to choose from and also stock Canadian designers (love that!). Your choices are then set up beautifully in a change room to try on. Hallie was awesome and helped me get myself into all of the gowns I tried on. They also had shoes for me to borrow while trying on gowns (something I seem to always forget to bring with me!) which was very appreciated. Although I didn't say yes to the dress on this particular occasion, I did really love a gown that is in my budget and (almost) everything I want. Since I have a bit more time, I will do a bit more shopping but definitely will keep Sash & Bustle at the top of my mind! Our consultant also mentioned that they offer bridal styling appointments as well, even if you purchase your gown elsewhere. I will also keep them in mind for help with this in the event I don't get my dress from this location. I would absolutely recommend stopping in for a bridal shopping visit (but be sure to make an appointment in advance!).

To find the actual store sign, you would have to look on the side of the building from Adelaide. This is a store where I would say "Don't judge a book by its cover". When I walked into the salon and was greeted by Nicole and her mom, Sharon, I still had my doubts but after 10 minutes speaking with Nicole, they went away. Nicole is a very energetic and sociable person. Depending on the personality of the bride/bridal party that visits, I'm sure some people will find her to be too strong but keep in mind, she's just very very energetic/happy and genuinely wants to help the bride (whether or not she buys from them). Although the store is small, they have great selection and if you're on a tight budget, this is DEFINITELY the place to go. I know some people who are on a fixed budget would immediately go to David's Bridal because they have cheaper prices BUT you do get what you pay for. I myself had visited David's Bridal in Mississauga on a Saturday and my experience was horrendous. I would literally compare it to a fast food restaurant but for bridal dresses. At Bridals on Spadina, you have affordable prices but there is QUALITY to it and you can tell. This is definitely a hidden gem and for any bride who is looking for a deal, take a look and see for yourself. My bridal party and I had a fantastic time at my appointment. Unfortunately I did not purchase my dress here but because of the experience I had, I wanted to make sure I leave a positive review so other brides are aware.
