Absolutely DO NOT purchase anything from this store. We purchased dresses in April they arrived in early July. One of the dresses was measured incorrectly. The manager said oh that girl wasn't suppose to measure ! The dress did not fit at all both the bust and hips were too small. Do not sign anything from this company or give them a cent. They had no solution and said can't get another dress sorry. We can refund you. What good is that when we ordered matching dresses ?? I came to Avenue 22 for my first ever bridal appt. I came in with an idea of what I wanted, but also let my party pick a dress or two that they liked. The appt went smoothly and my consultant (Elvira) really made the experience much better. The store has a huge selection of dresses, so I am sure there's a dress for everyone here. I would definitely suggest coming here if you're looking! I didn't end up finding the "one", but I only tried on 5 dresses during my appt. If I don't find a dress soon, I will def be back! read more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!, HEARTACHE, DISAPPOINTMENT, MANY TEARS, firstly before you get in the door they charge you a $50 consultation fee. My daughter found a dress, and the consultant, Milana, told her no problem it could be altered to make it strapless and the seamstress could add boning to the dress. This was not true, they also sized here incorrectly and when the dress arrived it was HUGE, the seamstress THEY recommended advised the dress could not be altered to what she had Envisioned, and advised by Milana, the consultant that it could be altered that way, the cost of the alterations were becoming more than the cost of the very expensive dress. They make you sign a contract saying you cannot loose or gain weight??? (or get pregnant)? When my daughter called the store manager, Sandra to advise what had happened, she was rude and demeaning. We went back to the store and spoke to the original consultant, Milana, we explained the incorrect sizing etc, how stressful and unhappy we were, we had literally cried for 3 days, we told her we need another dress, she offered to assist looking for a second dress, and when we asked if there would be a discount, she said only 10%. This was ridiculous, as the 2nd dress we wanted to purchase, was actually more that the original dress. This dress has now cost us a fortune, we could have had a custom made dress for the amount of money she spent to purchase the dress, and all the alterations. We found another dress in the store to purchase, however, no assurances were provided that the dress would come in time for the wedding, and by this time we are so distrusting of this store, we would never shop here again, and would NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE TO ANYONE. there are lots of other great options to buy wedding dresses in the GTA. please take a look at the other reviews from customers, it seems they have an ongoing issue with incorrect sizing. This is not the review that I wanted to write. I understand that small businesses, especially in the bridal industry, are struggling and are just trying to make a go of it, and I want to be part of the solution. However, our experience with Avenue 22 was frustrating from the start. They initially told the bride that it would be at least four months before her dress arrived; totally understandable, as it was coming from China, and there is a pandemic on. It arrived closer to the six month mark, but still ahead of the wedding date. When the bride went to pick it up, it was FOUR sizes too big, and missing an optional piece that she stated clearly that she wanted. Granted, the optional piece wasn't listed on the invoice, and it could be said that the bride should have checked, but in fairness to her, it's not her job, it's theirs. At this point, we started to worry, as the intended wedding date was only two months away, and it was obvious that Ave 22 wasn't going to be able to deliver the dress by that date. They did agree to give her a discount on the optional piece. The bride told them that the dress had to be in her hands, in the right size, with the optional piece, within two months, in order to make the second scheduled wedding date. They balked, citing the pandemic. At this point, I stepped in to politely remind them that the new delivery date was eleven months after the initial order date, and the error was entirely theirs, so they needed to make this happen. I also told them that we had already made the alterations appointment with the seamstress, which required train tickets and moving medical appointments, and that we had scheduled that appointment on the basis of their assurances that it would arrive in time. I didn't want the bride to panic, even though I know full well how these things can go sideways. Response from Nuno: they would "try to make it happen". I should hope so. The dress arrived, we picked it up and we were off to the seamstress with a happy bride. Temporarily. The seamstress and I agreed that I would do one part of the alterations so that family had a hand in the final stages. Problem: there was no obvious way to attach the optional piece. The manufacturer wouldn't talk to me because I'm not a retailer (separate review for their useless response to be posted), so I had to call Avenue 22. Here's how that went: The hardware is definitely there, you just don't see it. Me (over FaceTime): I'm showing you every scrap of fabric that the seamstress cut off. No hardware here. Nuno: Then the seamstress must have cut it off. Me: I seriously doubt it, as we had two conversations about it, and she understood perfectly that I was doing this stage, but you can call her, ask her, then get back to me tomorrow. Nuno insisted that they "turn each dress inside out" (his exact words) to make sure that it's complete before leaving the store. That would mean that *they* missed seeing that the hardware wasn't attached to the dress, non? He asked *me* whether the bride had tried on the dress with the optional piece attached before taking the dress. Huh? Isn't it *their* job to know whether they followed their own policy of not allowing the dress to go out the door without a try-on? I know that the seamstress was working the next day because I talked to her, and she confirmed that the hardware was NOT attached to the dress. In fact, the hardware was attached to the optional piece, so it was obvious that someone had to attach it to the dress. Neither the bride nor I knew when the dress was ordered that it came with "some assembly required", which is why the seamstress and I decided that I would do it at the first fitting. We are now more than two weeks later, yet Avenue 22 hasn't seen fit to call me back to apologize for accusing me of "missing" seeing the hardware, nor to make this latest screw-up of theirs right. Word of warning to future brides: review your invoice carefully, ensure that it is the right size, confirm that all optional pieces are listed, get an estimated delivery date in writing, and, oh yeah, have them put in writing which portions of the dress you will have to make arrangements for or sew yourself. You don't get much for your multi-thousands of dress dollars these days. I am being generous in giving two stars to Avenue 22. Two stars is intended to connote a fair experience, which this was not. The sticking point is that of their multiple errors, the only one for which they took full responsibility was the sizing fiasco, which is also the only one that was inarguably entirely their fault. That failure to acknowledge mistakes and make amends conveys a lot, and it's why I cannot in good conscience recommend dealing with Avenue 22, despite my fervent wish to support struggling sectors of the economy. read more

This was my second place to look for a wedding dress. I found one within an hour of being there. Lis was amazing very patient and good at what she does. Great service and good experience overall! Would definitely recommend this place for wedding dress shopping. One tip they ask you to take off your shoes so bring slippers or wear socks. read more

In early January, I was fitted for a bridesmaid dress. I was told to order a size and agreed to that based on the measurements taken by the sales associate. Upon receiving the dress in late April, I tried the dress on in store. I was ensured by the sales associates that it was the right size and that only minor alterations would be needed to take in the dress. (They make you sign a contract that if you go against the recommended size, the salon will not help you). After taking it to a seamstress, I was notified that the dress was at least 2 sizes too large and than extensive alterations would be needed. The cost of which would have exceeded 100 dollars (The dress was already $260). I was told the bodice would need to be entirely replaced and that the dress was too big to be alerted just by taking in the sides. I paid for the recommended alternations, but regardless on the day of the wedding, I had to use double sided tape and safety pins to keep the dress from sliding off and showing my bra. It seems I would have been better off ordering a dress online. I trusted the sales associates and spent so much money on the dress. I am extremely disappointed and I feel I was done a disservice in trusting the sales associates. Shopping for a bridesmaid dress is supposed to be a fun experience and instead turned out to be extremely stressful, costly, and upsetting because in the end the dress was too large to be altered. read more

Over the years, I have always referred Avenue 22 to my clients. I see quite a few of their reviews below actually and just at first glance of their Instagram page, I see already 3 of my clients in their most visible grid. When it was my time to get married, I chose to go here (even though I had found my dress at another store who had also offered me a better price), I made sure Avenue 22 carried my dress designer so I could give them the business instead. I met with a very lovely consultant named Alice. She was literally the only pleasant part of my dress experience. She was kind, helpful, and so very genuine. I have gone to so many dress consultations with my clients as my years as a Planner and I was so impressed with her. She made me feel so comfortable. Months later I found out that a relative purchased the same dress from Avenue 22. I know that things are non-refundable (I am well aware of how the industry works) but after speaking to the owner, she said we could work something out. After phone calls back and forth, her offer was for me to pay $2,000 so that she could call my relative and ask her to bring her dress back. I couldn't believe my ears. Why would I want to pay someone to make a phone call that I could make myself AND go crush a relative's dream dress in the process. After I accused her of extortion, she then turned it around and said that the $2,000 was to meet her half way because my dress wasn't as easy to sell as my relative's would have been. The reason why she wanted to try and negotiate something with my cousin instead was because her dress size didn't have a "custom bust" like mine did. We had the same sized dress but different busts (on contract at least but if you saw both of our dress tags - they were EXACTLY the same size... a 10 with no customization). I even spoke to the designer of the gown directly and her representative said it should have been on the label and proposed that I may have paid for a custom bust but not actually received it. Essentially the owner argued that because I'm "heavy chested" she couldn't resell my dress as easily... DISCRIMINATION at its finest. I would have preferred she just say "no refunds, sorry there is nothing I can do" then LIE to me and make me feel like we had a chance at a mutually agreeable resolution. All I wanted was to come to some sort of an agreement - alter the dress sleeves or somehow get a new one, I was open to anything but being LIED TO and SCAMMED. In all my years working in the industry, I have never met someone so unprofessional. I just spent nearly $10,000 in this store and another $1000 in alterations thus far... almost triple what the actual gown itself even costs, and this is how I was treated. NOT OK. I love my dress just as much as my relative does and we will now be wearing the same gown on our wedding days. However, I will NEVER forget how poorly I was treated. After all of the business I have given Avenue 22, I will never refer anyone here again. I strongly advise any person reading this to go elsewhere too. It's not about the dress anymore, it's about the customer service, respect, and professionalism that the owner of this store clearly lacks. I refuse to support people of such poor character so if there is another store in the city that carries your designer, I urge you to go there instead. read more

I have been here twice in the last month - once as someone's bridesmaid and to get my own bridesmaids fitted. On my first trip, the consultant was amazing, very sweet and attentive. I bought my dress on the spot. The second trip, the consultant I had for my own bridesmaids was just awful - she rushed my bridesmaids into their dresses, disappeared a lot, was pushy and kept telling us to try dress styles that we already told her three times we did not want, and she pulled a dress design that everyone fell in love with, but was not from the approved designer and she was unsure if it came in the approved colour. It was just awful. They need some consistency in their service, but otherwise great selection and beautiful store. We had a bridesmaid appointment a few weeks ago at Avenue Bridal and was blown away by the selection they had! Their store is huge and had lots of wedding dresses but we were impressed by the selection of bridesmaids dresses they had as well. We had Nuno helping us and he was fantastic. Made good recommendations and was able to clip us in properly to really see the dresses! The only reason why this wasn't a perfect review is that they have so many appointments running at the same time that sometimes another group has a dress you might be interested in trying but hold onto it for too long you almost feel like you're missing out. Yikes! Did not have a good experience here last Saturday. The only thing this place had going for it was the massive selection. Otherwise it felt like a warehouse with below-average service. Our consultant was cold, uninterested, did not know where any of the dresses I pulled from their website were, disappeared when I needed her to help clip the dress, and was rude to one of my bridesmaids. The one dress I found here that I had tried on at another bridal boutique was $600 more expensive, so if you found a particular dress here I highly suggest looking elsewhere first. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER I got married in 2014 (so this is a bit dated) and I can not stress enough how bad this place was. I went with my mom. This was the first store we tried and they were awful. As a plus size bride it is scary trying on super small sample size dresses. They made the experience worse. I forget who served me, but she was rude. She spent the entire time talking down to me and pushing her own agenda. She asked about my footwear and when I said cowboy boots she loudly said "DOES YOUR MOM KNOW THAT" as if to tell on me. My mom of course knew that. They had almost no plus sized dresses and made me feel bad for needing them. It has been two years and so I do not remember all the specifics. I did though leave and cry in the car before we picked a new store to try. It was a very upsetting first dress attempt. That is not the bad part! I went to a few other shops that day, and had amazing experiences. When I got home I wrote an email to the store about my experience, as the sales lady had been incredibly rude the entire time. Instead of an apology she wrote me back an even ruder email. I wish I still had the emails, it was just outrageous. Any friend getting married I remind not to go there. I had such a good experience at their sample sale today. Alice was such a huge help. I told her exactly what I wanted and she new my vision, and size without even measuring me and pulled tons of beautiful dresses for me. Definitely keep in mind when coming to the sample sales there are tons of dresses and you have to work quickly since there are so many other brides there. They warned me about this prior to coming in, so I already knew what I was getting into. I found my dress within 40 mins and it was the first time I've ever been dress shopping. This place is pretty hard to find as it is tucked away in the square it's situated in. The place is very clean. They have two fairly good sized change rooms. I booked an appointment on a weekday. I had to wait 10 mins which was okay. I took the time to look around. They had me fill out what I was looking for. The dresses they showed me were pretty helpful in figuring out what I like and didn't like. They have a good selection. Their prices are okay. Not the cheapest but not too bad either. They have 2 very nice 2014 pronovias dresses that I wasn't able to find anywhere else. I didn't end up buying my dresses from them because I really liked one of the pronovias dresses but I needed many tweeks to be done on the dress. The alteration quote is too pricey to justify buying that dress and the risk of buying a dress without seeing how it's gonna be like is too daunting. read more

Nuno was helping her and I think that all women she was initially not sure what the experience would be like having a man help her pick a wedding dress but after this experience I would refer any woman to him! Poor customer service. Very unwelcoming and though I understand that appointments have precedence (we were walk-ins), they made no effort to show us any dresses or inquire about our needs. When we went we were the only customers in the store and they still made no effort. The store is large enough to accommodate more than one bride, they just seemed unwilling. we first went to davids because there was a promo, but quickly regretted it because they were so rushy rushy to get us in and out. avenue 22 entire staff were super friendly, polite, very welcoming, and our advisor maria was so helpful and knowledgable! our bride and all the brudesmaids would tell her and show her what we liked or didnt like, abd she woukd come back w.dress selections that absolutely wow-ed us! even dresses we didnt think we would liked, but just trying them on or her showing us the options to play around and customize the dresses just made our visit here so delightful! as any bridal store, no outside food/drinks, no shoes - but they had tons of clean, well kept flip flops to wear in-store. we fell in love w.many dresses so we booked a second appt to re-try them & narrow it down. i highly recommend this place, especially if youre picky, youre bound to find something here! cant wait for our next visit! read more

I went to 22 Avenue bridal today and had an absolutely amazing experience. Staff were completely attentive and kind. I didn't even buy my dress here but was coming in to look for a veil and jewellry (which they have a huge amazing selection of). They took me in and helped me out even though I was a walk in. They helped with every little detail and were so patient with all my particularness! I ended up finding an amazing veil and jewellery set. BTW their costume jewellery prices are amazing! EXTREMELY RUDE! Thur Nov 22nd i went to Avenue 22 with my bridesmaids and mom in hopes to find my bridal dress. We were appalled with the way we were treated. Even though we had an appointment booked from a week the consultant had no interest in helping. After showing her plenty of pictures of what i am looking for and filling out all my person she walks me over to the dresses and says "well here are the dresses" holds up a dress or two for me to see then stands there looking at me, i got the hint she wanted me to look myself, so i did. A few minutes later two of my brides maids came into the room and asked me if they could help me. The asian consultant that was with another customer yelled at them saying "just get out! Go go over there" waving her arms frantically and yelling. My friend asked " where do you want us to go" the frantic women replied "just go in the other room over there!" I couldnt believe how they were treating my friends/family i calmly told my mom we are leaving, i refuse to give my business to anyone that treats people like this, and politely asked for the sheet with my information. The frantic asian woman came storming over and violently grabbed the paper from my hands after the first consultant handed it to me ripping it in up yelling and yelling quite dramatically "we don't give these out!" I purchased both my own dress and my bridesmaids dresses at Avenue 22 for my August 2016 wedding and had a great experiences with all of the purchases. My dress was absolutely perfect, it looked stunning and was actually so comfortable I didn't want to take it off. The customer service I received when buying my dress made me feel special and unique and not just like another bride they're trying to get in and out. With both my dress choice and the bridesmaids dresses, I was given lots of great advice and suggestions. We also got tons of compliments on the colour and style of the bridesmaid dresses. I picked my bridesmaid dresses from here. Staff was very helpful in letting us try on dresses since we were walk-ins. Although I didn't purchase my dress from them, the owner did honour the 10% discount on the bridesmaid dresses. They are extremely busy on weekends so if you have time during the week, that would be a better choice so that you're not rushed or so that you're not stuck waiting because they're behind. I booked my first ever bridal appointment with Avenue 22, mainly for their wide range of designers they stock. My mam and sister had flown in to go dress shopping with me. We arrived and boy were we not disappointed with the selection. The way the shop is laid out is great, the ground floor carries all the $2500 and less dresses, the upper floor the more expensive lines. Samantha was our consultant and she was great. She Brought me around each rail of dresses and spoke to me about the styles and let me chose a few from the ones I liked. We hung them up and got to work trying the dresses on. All the dresses were in great condition and Samantha helped me in and out of each. There was no pressure or rush and the appointment was very relaxed. I would say I easily tried on 20+ dresses and re-tired a few, at no point was Samantha rushing me. She wrote down the names of the dresses I really liked and even allowed my sister to try on the bridesmaid dresses we had our eye on too. We were allowed take photos and really felt at ease throughout the appointment. As one of the dresses I really liked was in a trunk show they squeezed me in to re try the dress on on a busy Sunday before the dress moved on. This time our consultant was Tiffany. She was so helpful too and even brought me some other dresses I hadn't tried on the first day. I had a particular idea in my mind and they only had one dress of this kind in stock and it was out of my budget, Tiffany contacted the designer of another dress I had brought in in a picture and called me the next day and said she could borrow it from the designer! In the end I didn't end up buying my dress here but I really wanted to! They were awesome start to finish and I wanted to share my experience with other brides to be. I definitely would recommend this as an amazing bridal salon and wish them every continued success in what they are doing. read more

When I ended up ordering the dress, the measurements they took were perfect to the point where we were so surprised as my dress needed no alterations at all! I would give this place negative stars but I am forced to give it one star. The owner of this place is rude and unprofessional. The store manager took the incorrect measurements and we were stuck with the dress. We were accused of gaining a ridiculous amount of weight in a short period of time to cover up her error. We were asked to try the dress on in the washroom but she later changed her mind because she probably realized how ridiculous that recommendation was. I know my experience can't alter you deciding to come here but the experience my family had here was horrible. It was unnecessary stress leading up to a wedding. Extremely rude and unprofessional. A liar. Rude to her employees. Those poor employees have to do the owner's dirty work. I would recommend any other store over Avenue 22 Bridal. Also, she will ask for more than 50% of a down payment. Shopping at Avenue 22 was truly a wonderful experience. The staff are warm and receptive and they have a terrific selection of dresses. I really appreciated the help of my salesperson who was fun to work with and she really understood what type of dress I was looking for. We spent hours going through the broad selection of dresses, as we narrowed down our choices. The staff are exceptionally patient and what I really appreciated was the fact that they are not pushy or arrogant, as I have found in other salons.
