I have always thought that one of the most enjoyable and least visited areas in Disneyland is the Silhouette Studio store located on the west side of Main Street, USA. This little boutique is rich in history and magic. The Silhouette Studio has remained largely unchanged since its debut along with the original Disneyland park when it opened in July 1955. This is one of those classic experiences that has endured through the years! What makes this experience at Silhouette Studio truly unique is the overall experience itself. You don't buy an souvenir here. Rather, you are given a chance to sit before a trained artist who will cut your profile into thin strips of paper in approximately 90 seconds. It's really impressive to see how fast and accurate the artist can make a picture with nothing but a pair of scissors and some pieces of paper! Your resulting keepsake will be one of a kind! The shop itself is pretty small and easy to miss, located along Main Street near other shops, but that adds to its charm. Because of its size, it can get a little crowded at times, especially when people are waiting for their turn. But the process moves fairly quickly, and it's definitely worth the short wait for such a unique souvenir. Silhouette Studio is one of those hidden gems at Disneyland that offers such a fantastic experience! It's simple, artistic, and incredibly special! It's perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to take home a unique memory from their visit. Magic Key Holder Discounts and Disney Vacation Club Discounts are accepted at the Silhouette Studio! It's also usually open as soon as the theme park opens and closes! read more

We planned to do the Silhouette Studio at Disneyland, but was unable to. There are apparently 2 silhouette studios inside Disneyland. First one was just closed. The second place told us they are going on break. ? This was morning. The third time, there were just a bunch of people hanging out in front of the Silhouette studio door that we had no idea if it was a line or if the place was even open. We gave up and just decided to do it at Tokyo Disney. read more

Came in at 7:45pm. Wanted to get drawings of our puppies. 15 each, not bad but portraits 20 each, ouch ! They said it would be a 20min wait. We waited 45 mins, line didn't move. No update or explanation. We left, cause this is obnoxious. read more

We were excited to finally do this with our daughters. It's worth the wait. We had Lolita and it seems she has been a fan favorite for years after looking over reviews. Line can be a bit deceptive as they will do silhouettes off of photos. The couple in front of me had only a single child but 5 silhouettes thy wanted to do. Took us about an hour with like 5-6 people ahead of us. There is a little set up to put your phone to keep your child distracted. The process goes quick once you are inside. read more

My boyfriend really wanted to do this during our recent Disneyland trip. I didn't think the wait/line will be long. Boy, I was so wrong lol. We waited for an hour before it was our turn. We wanted to do one together. It is $11.99 per person. We took turns sitting on the chair to have our silhouettes done. Brian was our artist. He was really fast. Very detailed artwork. After the silhouettes pieces were done, he handed them over to another cast member to piece/glue everything together. You can add a frame for $19.99. We didn't know but they give you 2 copies of the silhouette. So cool. Also, you can have them hold it for you and pick up end of day. Free of charge. read more

Wow wow wow I would 100% recommend this experience to anyone visiting Disneyland and looking for a unique souvenir. There is a bit of a wait, but worth it. This experience is super inexpensive for what you're getting, in my opinion. For $15, before annual pass discount, you get two custom silhouette cut outs. To add on the frame it was only an additional $20. The cast member who did our cut out was Bob and he was so great! read more

Every year I visit Disneyland with my daughter. Lolita is a true artist. I always look for her to make our family portraits. Her skill is unmatched and the little details she puts into her portraits are phenomenal. When people talk about the Disney "magic" it's because of employees like Lolita. read more

I had visited Disneyland from out of town this time for the silhouette in Disneyana because of the shorter line. I had this cutter named JAN cut my dog and my family. It came out that my dog looked completely different from the picture I gave to her. What is wrong with you F JAN. It's just the outline of the shallow. She couldn't get it right. It took her 5 minutes to finish my dog. My son's silhouette. When I showed them to all my friends. All of them said she cut your son's silhouette and looked like an old man. What a lousy silhouette cutter. JAN told me she had been there for 25 years. They were all shocked to hear that and said NO . She is a liar. She is an amateur. I should have done research to see who is a real professional silhouette for them to cut. Famous Disneyland Theme Park. The happiest place on earth. JAN will ruin Walt's good name. Such a lousy job she had done. If you ever see her in the Disneyana or main studio. Don't even waste your money on JAN. Go to Etsy. They are more professional there. I am very disappointed with all these cutters. What a waste of my money and time. Stupid. By the way all the cast members are very RUDE and had no MANNERS. My friend had Lolita on main street cut her family and did not look like them either. Rush and not focus at all. I feel like they all don't want to be there. Don't sleep on your jobs. I also read the employees' reviews. Management is very bad in all departments. Sad to see that happened. The company Mr. Walt Disney worked so hard for it. read more

The type of shit I'm on, you wouldn't understand. Now you may be wondering... Cands what type of shit is that?? I'm fixin' to tell you. Waiting in a line at the Silhouette Studio to have the artist create a silhouette of your CAT! No! She wasn't there with me, but bring a side profile of your pet and they can create one. Yep!! There it is folks! ;) I've not so secretly been wanting one of these for a while. The line was short (20ish min wait) so why not?!! I think this is such a cute little experience for Disneyland, whether you're a first timer or have been hundreds of times. Process takes around 5-10min tops once you're in. Prices are reasonable, frames are an additional $20 and you get two copies of your silhouette. Could be a super cute little Valentine's Day/date activity for those coming in the next month. I was here with a group of 8 (my fam) and while they dipped in some other shops I stopped off here for a visit. Highly recommend. read more

The line is always crazy! But I get it. This is something that takes time to do. If you want a silhouette of your face and your families faces, you will need patience. The Disneyland Silhouette Studio is a unique experience, that is only do one time and be done with it lol At the end of the day, it's a piece of paper with a shadow of your face lol It's not gonna look exactly like you, because it's using negative and positive space to create this art. It's impossible to put in the detail to make this look realistic to you. So, the people that are upset about it not looking like them, I'm sorry. That does suck. But you've gotta be realistic about this. It's a silhouette. Not a picture. Not a painting. Not a sketch. So, it might look like you generally speaking. But yours might be very similar to someone else's silhouette too. Sure, there's some distinctions if you have a larger/ smaller nose, or a protruding/ receding chin. Those features can be seen easily with a silhouette. But, if you don't have features that stand out from the norm, then your silhouette might be more similar to others. This is still a fun concept and thing to do. I have realized that I don't care much for my silhouette and that's why I am not sharing the photo lol read more

This place is one of the two reasons my little boy and I visited Disneyland again after reading an article together. We have been to the park so many times; yet, we somehow walked by without realizing their existence this whole time. Such sacrilege! Cry foul, cry foul. So unlike everyone that flocked in hordes into every crevice within the park as the doors opened, we simply bee-lined our way into the gift shop that led to the little studio where this sweet magical art took place in the hands of gifted artists that cut and created this piece within a couple minutes. We awaited our turn, enjoyed our conversations with the different staff that were getting everything in place, and simply soaked in the magic that the park always exudes. A few minutes after the little one sat, the piece of art was complete. For just $12, the experience and the silhouette card...were definitely worth this visit we had randomly booked on a whim this very weekday. read more

11/10 would recommend! This was such a unique and cool experience at Disneyland. My friend had shown me her silhouette and I was sold! My bf and I waited in line for about 45 mins/1 hour. I didn't know what to expect! The studio is very small and there's only one artist so please be patient when you go. When it was our turn, Lolita (the silhouette artist) was so sweet. She did each silhouette in less than 10 minutes! She's so talented! I also got a silhouette of my friend's dog to gift her for Xmas and it turned out so perfect! The cost for each silhouette was $11.99. Each frame was $19.99. These make great personalized souvenirs or gifts! read more

Date of visit: May 20, 2023 One of the things we've always wanted to do at the Disneyland Resort was to get our silhouettes done at the Silhouette Studio. One of the most popular stores on Main Street, for $11.99 (and $20 extra for a custom frame), the talented silhouette artists will make your image in about 3-5 minutes, with an extra one thrown on for free. It was my lady's 50th birthday weekend; we passed by and saw that the line was pretty short and moving fast (as I mentioned, the artists move fast), so we decided it was time to get ours done. After you take your seat and keep looking forward - the activity book in front helps - you're done before you know it. And, we were able impressed at not just how fast our artist worked, but how detailed she did our silhouettes with her scissors. For a unique souvenir of your time at the parks, can't beat the Silhouette Studio read more

I just stumbled across this place on Main street and looked it up online. The artists make the most amazing sihouette from live in person or from photos. I had her make 2. One of each of my dogs. It says it takes about 90 seconds to cut each, but for pups, it takes a few minutes... still amazing! I waited for about an hour in line and she finished both cuts in about 7-8 minutes. They turned out amazing. They offer framing options that run about $20 each. The frames didnt match anything in my house so I opted to frame them myself the cuts were $12 each and totally worth it. I would recommend taking the time to get yours done. read more

I love my Silhouette!! I used to have an annual pass to Disneyland but for whatever reason I did not want to wait it line for this and miss out on the other thousands of things you can do!!!! Granted the silhouette could kind of be any person with a ponytail! But it had some feature that do resemble me. For Disneyland the price is reasonable around $10 or so for the silhouette and and $20 or so for the frame. I'd say the frame is a must since how else can you display it plus it had a bazillion hidden Mickeys on it. I recommend doing this only if there's is no line or minimal. Also if you do you have long hair put it up in a pony tail for a more dramatic silhouette. They can also hold the frame for you till the park closes. The stores close an hour after all the rides are done so you should have time to pick it up. read more

The artists are amazing. When I have been in the parks there is usually a line or the artist is not there just yet. I had a very specific situation where a beloved dog passed away. A friend of ours was going to be in the park and I sent him the side photo of Indiana (yes her name was Indiana Jones). The artist did a wonderful job from looking at the photo of her. We gave it to the parents and they were in love with it. They did not know that they also do animals. We say that she left her shadow behind for us to keep. read more

Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2015 Five years ago, my then fiancé (now husband) and I had our silhouettes done and framed at the Disneyland Silhouette Studio which provided to be a sweet keepsake. Earlier this year, our son turned two years old and we brought him to Disneyland for the very first time. Going to the Disneyland Silhouette Studio was on the top of my list of places to visit. Being an early bird, we arrived at the shop shortly after the park opened in the morning but they weren't open. We came back after lunch and there was a short line. The silhouette artist worked fast and the attention to detail was uncanny. She did a fantastic job of cutting the silhouettes for my husband, my son and myself. The person who was placing the silhouettes in the frames worked just as hard and efficient as the artist cutting the silhouettes- together they were an amazing team. They did a great job on the three different pieces of silhouette art- one of my son, of of my husband and myself, and lastly one of my little family of 3. - - - - - - - - - - our purchase - - - - - - - - - - - 6 silhouette frames @ $16.95 each = $101.70 annual premier pass discount 20% ($20.34) - 6 silhouette pieces of art @ $9.45 = $56.70 subtotal: $138.06 tax: $11.04 total: $149.10 They don't give an annual pass holder discount on the artwork but they do on the picture frames. This place is a hidden gem on Main St. @ Disneyland. I didn't even know about this place until my MIL mentioned it to me while we took her here a year ago. She had not been to Disneyland in over 20 years and she remembered this studio. This place is so affordable and worth it! You get two copies and the frame is worth getting as there are over 25 Mickey's hidden in the antique frame and you get 15-20% off with your annual Disney pass. Steve is super detail oriented and very friendly. He does exquisite, precise cutting. He used to live in Tokyo, Japan and worked at the Tokyo Disneyland for over 20 years. We had a conversation in Japanese. He has done a few of our portraits. Thank you for the great memories and memorabilia's. It's a nice gift to give to the grandparents for the holidays and it's nice to have it done as a small baby, toddler, etc. even with the whole family ( I think up to 4 is max, not sure) or solo with a Disney character. One of my fav. places at the park, and not a lot of people know about it unless you come often. You won't be sorry, I promise! Lastly, you can leave your portraits with the shop until closing so you don't had to lug it around the park. Helpful hint: the artists let me know that wearing your hair in a pony tail makes the neck line look the best for little girls and gives that young playful look. You can also wear Mickey ears too. Also, if for some reason you are not happy with how your silhouette turned out, let them know immediately and they will re-do it for you!! Hope you enjoyed my review! read more

My dear friend wanted to get a silhouette done of her son. She gave me a side profile picture of him. I arrived right when the studio opened at 11 AM (Sometimes it opens at 10 AM) and there was only one family in front of me. The artist cutting the silhouettes said that she could easily do it from my photo or even a picture on my phone. She was done in less that a minute, they clearly have been doing this for years! The pricing is $9.99 per person (that includes two hand cut silhouettes and the frames are $19.99. If you are an AP holder, you can get your discount on just the frames (not the cut outs). The frames are adorable & look like a vintage heavy wood....but my only complaint is that they are actually made from a very light, chunky plastic! I wish they were heavy wooden frames, but I guess it will be easier for my friend to hang. There is only one frame to choose from. I was told that it can get pretty crowed and that's why I arrived at opening time. However, I was there on a weekend and never noticed it crowded at all, only a few people every single time I passed. They will hold they picture until closing if you do not have a locker. I think it is a unique and fun memory to have. read more

The artist was amazing!! I got a picture of my dog and she was able to complete it right from a picture.

I've been wanting to do this for a while now. I've grown up Disney and NEVER did this but today I walked in to the studio and met the talented Bonnie. My 3yo son and I sat for a minute or two and she was able to create the most amazing piece of art that I will cherish forever. It's a little over $10.00/person with taxes and you get two pictures. They were charging $20/person at the OC fair! You can't use a pass discount on the actual silhouette but you can on the frames. I chose not to purchase a frame because I knew I had one at home. Do you want to do this but don't have the whole family with you? I found out after we finished that she can actually create a silhouette from a photo on your phone! They offered to redo mine with my husband's photo but I chose not to at this time. Next time I will though and add the dog too! She said she does that often. read more

I second the review below that this is one of the best souvenirs you can bring home from Disneyland. A silhouette will be cherished forever, while most of the other stuff becomes junk. Plus, I just really love watching the artist at work. For those of you who have never seen this done, they FREEHAND it! That's right, no sketch, no tracing a projection--they simply whip out those scissors and start cutting. Simply amazing. At only $9.95 per head, this is a real bargain (especially considering that a 5x7 photo will run you $15.95). Plus, you get TWO silhouettes for that price! They cut them back to back so that you end up with two facing opposite directions. The oval frames are really cool and only cost $12.95, but I've never purchased one because I want my silhouette to go right into my scrapbook. The studio usually opens after the park, so get there first thing to avoid lines. It only takes about 5 minutes from start to finish, so you won't spend too long there. The best priced keepsake you can find in the park! We've gotten these in WDW and DL, both parks have long time employees working their magic at these stores. Luv this place. As a young kid, my mom used to make me and my brother do this silhouette thing at Disneyland. It was a great gift and also was good because we only had to really sit still for a minute or two. We still have them at our house and at our grandparents. So, when the girlfriend and I went for a visit, I told her that we had to get one together. It was inexpensive and quick, so she relented. Well maybe the old gal doing it only does children well. She probably did mine way back when. The one of me and my girl was pretty monstrous. We're not even going to talk about her mom's one. Ugh. The silhouette's were pretty brutal, but the girlfriend and her mom never did it before. They had fun and that's all that matters. Anyway, it's a good keepsake to have. I'd say keep it for the kiddies. An excellent gift for the grandparents and family memento. read more

I wandered by here at the end of the day and figured hey, what the heck. It was pretty inexpensive...I think along the lines of under 20 dollars. So I sat for the woman while she chatted. Glanced at picture, bought the silhouette, bought the frame and tucked it away to bring home with me. I get it home, pull it out and the first thing everyone says who see's it, "is that supposed to be you?" So I take a better look and realize it looks nothing like me. The hair is long, but thats about it. And it's not just that silhouettes are hard to capture, because I've had some exquisite silhouettes done of me and my family that were gorgeous and ran for about the same price. This just looks cheap. I'd like to say you get what you pay for, but this is Disney, certainly they could hire people who have some sort of talent. read more

It actually took longer for the silhouettes to get framed :) which I didn't mind because Lisa, who was putting it together, was really sweet and friendly.
