We were just here for the weekend for my daughter's wedding. The food and service was amazing. I would recommend this venue for any type of event. The hotel was wonderful too. read more

What a beautiful place and easily accessible location! The ambiance was so relaxed yet elegant and service was very well executed. We ordered the small plate of buffalo milk burrata- who knew that dish could be so delicious. The grapefruit paired perfectly with the flavors of the herbs and the creamy burrata provided a great depth of flavor. Filet mignon was seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as requested. The crisp potatoes were a delightful addition to the dish. The walleye was moist and had a wonderful crispy skin. The pickled onions provided a nice acidity to the dish paired with the blueberry sauce which was absolutely my favorite! The cornbread was a little dry but that's my only criticism from the entire dinner. For dessert we ordered the lemon blueberry meringue. All the best flavors in a large enough portion for three people to share. They even provided complimentary chocolates which our 5 year old devoured! Would absolutely revisit! read more

I grew up in Union City, Indiana, and now live in Indy. When we return home we're always looking for new restaurants to check out in the area. Versailles is about 20-25 minutes away and Silas was worth the trip for their Sunday morning brunch. For starters, its very cost effective at $15/head with a buffet featuring french toast casserole, herbed eggs, coffee cake, bacon, etc. The space is gorgeous - from the lighting to the floor to ceiling windows to the fact that they have Molton Brown soap in the bathroom (luxxxxurrry). Overall, the brunch was a very smooth and lovely experience topped off with a solid coffee menu. I opted for the drip coffee - wish I knew where there beans were from? Guessing local-ish based on the quality. My only complaint was that they had a hard time keeping the buffet options full so it was hit or miss when you'd go up to the bar. Minor feedback. Look forward to visiting for lunch or dinner in the future! read more

If I could give a higher rating, I would! This is my first visit to Silas. The space is very high end and tastefully designed. The food was outstanding, and I had the Scallops and squid ink spaghetti, also at the table was the steak, the tacos, and the roasted vegetable plate. Everyone shared bits from their dishes and I have to say we were in complete agreement that the food was phenomenal! We topped it off with a Dubai chocolate treat to round out the meal. Our server was Cale (sp?) and he didn't miss a thing. He offered suggestions and we never had to ask for anything. This is one restaurant that I wish was closer to me and not so far away. My visit to family will now include this restaurant! read more

The ambiance and service are second to none - we had Amy as our attentive server and she was wonderful. Asked for a Death in Afternoon cocktail- she wasn't sure but pulled it off! The cheesy bread as an appetizer is top notch. I got the bacon wrapped scallops and SO got the salmon. Both winners. The price is not excessive, but clearly above the average dinner price in Dayton or Troy. A bit of a trek but well worth it. read more

FARM TO TABLE, what else do you really need?! Upscale but with a diner vibe -- I loved meeting Amy who was serving us and giving us delightful recommendations. The menu seems to change with the season and the chefs are top tier. We ended up having the king salmon w/ micro-greens and it was delicious. Curated with the consumer in mind, that I am sure of. Strawberry Rhubarb pie + scoop of vanilla ice cream hit the spot for dessert and if I ever find myself in Versailles, OH...you can be damn sure I'll be back to Silas. read more

We had high hopes for Silas Creative Kitchen, but we left disappointed. While the food was decent, we felt rushed through our meal. This prevented us from enjoying our time together and the atmosphere. It felt as though they were trying to turn the table over as quickly as possible. Which would be completely understandable if it was a busy night, but the restaurant was dead. The waiter was polite but simply hurried, it was indicated the pace was dictated by the chef's. We don't plan on coming here again, we do hope management will take this constructive criticism seriously to elevate their guests dining experience. PS: If you use a gift card note they do charge gratuity no matter the party size. read more

It was my wife's birthday and she wanted to try this restaurant - I'm so glad we did! The prices reflect the high quality of the food and the creative way it's prepared. Expect that. It's a new building (restaurant and hotel) that is very tastefully thought out. They have an extensive drink menu that includes wine, beer, liquors and cocktails. I was DD so I couldn't imbibe but my wife enjoyed the wine and a port with dessert. We started with the bread selection and the Sycamore Bridge salad. The breads were fresh and delicious, they came with butter topped with black Hawaiian salt. Nice! The salad was large and we shared it. Great leafy greens, pumpkin, cheese, coated nuts and a great vinaigrette lightly coating it. Again, Nice! Next, we both ordered scallops. Large scallops heavenly seared but cooked inside perfectly, they were delicious. They came with crispy small crushed potatoes and a small legume I'm not familiar with. I loved it all! My wife ordered apple cheesecake and it was also very well done! Delicious! What's not to like here? As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!' read more

Delicious eloquent and varied choices. Waiter knew very well the specialties, genuinely friendly and always there to help. The place is gorgeous. Felt like I might be in a restaurant in Paris but yet was in Ohio! I look forward each time I visit to stop by. read more

This place is amazing! I am from Chicago, so eating here was a pleasant surprise. My boyfriend and I did the tasting menu, and it exceeded my expectations! We will absolutely be returning. read more

The mushrooms were fried perfectly so that you have a nice crunch when you bite then go right into the meaty texture. The Anchovy aioli hit. The burger had a lot going on, but didn't lack in any layer. Milk bun was perfect to hold it all together. And Dessert sent up to the room was a great life choice. Had my appetizer/meal at the bar with a big ass wall full of all their selections. Very Dope. read more

One of our newest favorite date night/special event places!! The space is absolutely GORGEOUS, the service is superb, and the food is super creative, beautifully presented, & delicious. Silas is one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure to experience. It is the total package! My husband and I have just returned from another date night this evening, and our experience was once again absolute perfection, from the ambience to the service to the quality of the food & drinks. If you love fine dining, Silas Creative Kitchen is the place for you. I love how the menu changes with the seasonal availability of the menu items. I love that they always have specials that are not on the regular menu. Tonight we got the fire roasted vegetables with hummus and house made naan, and it was one of the best things we've had there. A little more about our previous Silas experiences...We had already been there a few times for lunch before we booked for Mother's Day brunch. I usually avoid going out on Mother's Day because it's just crazy busy & every place is so overrun that the quality of the food & service suffers. NOT HERE! Lured in by their description of the buffet options, I asked my husband to book us a table for the Mother's Day experience. We went with our youngest two children, both of whom are in their late teens. They got to have very pretty specialty drinks without alcohol, and they felt so grown up! :D The server went out of her way to make us feel pampered & special. The food was all beautifully arranged and delicious. There was a nice variety, too. Best of all, because they hadn't overbooked, even though the place was relatively full we didn't feel like cattle at a feed trough & we weren't running in to people. Each table had a vase of fresh cut flowers. My meal came with a complimentary cocktail, cut flower & other nice little gifts. I was really impressed with how lovely everything was! The staff & management is obviously top notch because this special event brunch was a fantastic experience, so well organized on every detail. Highly recommend!!! read more

My friends from high school and I lunched at Silas's last Friday and it was amazing. First, everything is beautiful, service is excellent and the food was sooo wonderful! I loved my grilled cheese and the tenderloin chili was...well you loved every bite! We started with the beef fat fries and house-made catsup...it's not to be missed! The servings are generous...everything was marvelous! After lunch, when my car wouldn't start, their facilities manager gave my battery a jump to get me going! We WILL be back and can't wait! read more

Stopped in for a meal after a job in town. I asked our server Adriana what was good and she was very helpful and suggested her favorite along with a good seller. Our food came out hot and tasty. Everything was delightful. The restaurant is very nice inside and stands apart from most. I look forward to coming back to try dinner. Thanks again Adriana. read more

Love the high quality farm to table experience. The service is top notch and the menu is constantly changing. It is a gem in the small town of Versailles! Our experiences have ranged from drinks at the bar, to breakfast, lunch and dinner, to the phenomenal buffets on special occasions. The private dining space is also unique for a party of 8 to 12 people. read more

The food here is incredible. The service is excellent and the ambience is something not expected in a small Midwest town. The hotel is also a superb place to stay and enjoy your spectacular meal at Silas. read more

Went here for lunch...nice place with clean atmosphere and great service. But... the meals were disappointing. Prime rib sandwich consisted of one very thin slice (think cold cut) that was shredded. It was easy to chew, but no beef content to add any beef flavor. It was served on a chibatta, some sloppy mayo stuff and a large piece of cheese, all of which overpowered the palette. Salmon poke bowl was nicely presented in a deconstructed manner, but the rice was undercooked/ crunchy, and the salmon was not sushi grade- it eas laden with fat strands, making it spit-out non chewable. The salad with grilled salmon was tasty, but fairly generic, and only 3oz of fish for $26. The fish and chips was generic too, with a ton of batter, overpowering any chance of tasting to cod. The Reuben was the winner at the table, nicely done. The small plates/appetizers were okay, with the French fries being winners. The fried mushrooms came out crisp, and the batter was tasty- the mushrooms seemed to be pounded flat before frying, and so there was no mushroom taste, just batter. Likely won't be back, was a 45 minute drive/ an hour and a half round trip... for pricey sub-par food... that should have been easy to make well. read more

The dried tempura oyster mushrooms were the CLEAR winner of the night. Can I smuggle some back to Texas?! George (the opera-man) could not have been any more wonderful!! read more

Excellent but overly complicated food, but service was lacking. Slow to greet, slow food, slow to clear dirty app dishes, never wiped up droppings. 2 hr dinner. Great bar with wonderful live music. read more

Yeah - wow. Everything was stunning. Truly. I get how it's farm-to-table and the menu will change, but items we had/shared tonight included: * Sycamore Bridge Salad - wins the award for the least dressed salad I've seen in my life, but the chive vinaigrette was stunningly perfect in both taste and amount * Pimento Cheese Gougeres w/ hot honey and pistachio - really amazing * Lamb Bolognese - wow * Beef Fat Fries - w/ date (and BBQ) ketchup * Wagyu Skewers * Roasted / Grilled Lamb * Bread Service Everything was so incredibly well executed. The place is beautiful, but the service was the biggest surprise to me. Sarah our server was amazing, but everyone was operating at a top notch level. At a lot of high end kitchens in smaller markets, there seems to be a tendency to dumb the training / service down, but it truly was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Can't wait to return. read more

This restaurant is ELITE. The chef behind these incredible dishes is putting out Michelin Star level food. We got a reservation on a Tuesday night and we had an incredible experience. The decor is beautiful and whoever designed this restaurant put in a lot of thought and attention to detail. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. The food here is amazing. We ordered the fried mushrooms, corn fritters, bacon wrapped cod, salmon, fire roasted vegetables, gnocchi, peach gallette, fried doughnuts, and the Elvis cheesecake. My wife and I have been to a lot of restaurants around the country and this one is Top 5. Make it a point to have dinner at this restaurant. You won't be disappointed. read more

My wife and I had drinks and dinner at Silas recently and were blown away by the food and service. It was our first time there, and it deserves every bit of the acclaim it receives. Love the food, love the service, love the drinks, but they are SLOW. Our 4th visit to Silas this year--every visit, the bar was slow getting our drinks out. It doesn't matter if we are sitting at the bar or ordering drinks from our table, it takes a very long time to get drinks. Even wine-- we ordered wine between our starters and main course. Wine arrived after our entrees. Bar staff is hustling, I don't understand what the problem could be--communication? number of bartenders? computer ordering system? read more

The atmosphere is great . The food is top notch and the staff for the most part is excellent. In this area not anything better .

It was a tremendous evening. Great great choices. The states were done superbly and topped with crab and holiday sauce that was out of this world. The base scallops were fantastic and the bread is baked fresh. You have to come to this place. read more

Make a reservation now! My experience was perfect. I just kept saying- "I can't believe this," over and over again. I was so impressed from beginning to end. Our meal was executed impeccably. I couldn't believe the quality of ingredients, skill in execution of the dishes, robust flavors, and the attention to detail paid both in the dishes and also in the aesthetic of the restaurant. We took our time to enjoy our meal and even wandered outside and sat by a peaceful fireplace before diving into our desert. I was also pleasantly surprised by our bill. I expected to pay much more for the quality execution and ingredients. If you are near this restaurant take the time to visit. You will not be disappointed. If you don't want to make the drive back home, stay in the gorgeous attached hotel! read more

Meh. Kind of overpriced for just ok food, this place doesn't really fit in a small town.

Food is amazing! Silas is a gem! The menu bar to dessert is truly a creative sensation! The staff is well trained and responded to all questions. Sara took excellent care of us and would suggest you ask for her. They are truly a destination restaurant located in the heart of Versailles, Ohio in the Hotel. The attention to detail, fixture, tableware, lighting and artwork shows the care that went into this concept. Menu changes often. They are a farm to table concept with the majority of items being sourced local. The bar staff and selection of mixed drinks and special spirits and wines top drawer. Enjoy a Pappy's and some outstanding food I do not think you will be disappointed. read more

This is a fantastic restaurant set inside an impeccable hotel (Hotel Versailles). Every detail is thoughtful and welcoming yet high-end and exquisitely appointed. From the moment we walked in the door the staff made us feel valued and so welcomed! Though only open for two weeks service ran smoothly and if there were any hiccups they certainly weren't apparent to the guests. The menu offerings are really varied with items that will please both those with very refined tastes as well as those who prefer more mainstream choices. The ingredients were of the highest quality and perfectly cooked. We were a large party and everyone raved about their meals from appetizers through dessert. Despite the quality and opulent surroundings we also felt the prices were not out of line for such an excellent dining experience. And to add to our delight. Every plate was beautiful to look at. Many pics were taken! There just aren't many restaurants of this quality outside of major cities. We're very fortunate to live close enough to return again and again! read more
