But the decor is very charming and the tremendous bar is a beautiful reproduction of something out of a grand London ballroom. They have divided up seating areas to create some sense of intimacy and we sat in the little snuggery-type area up front. The food was great. I primarily came for the Scotch Egg which was nicely done and well presented, though I think I would have liked it better if the egg was not quite as hard cooked. It's a great appetizer for two at a reasonable price. My husband had the Mum's Pot Roast and absolutely loved it, meat so tender and shreddable, rich gravy, perfect vegetables. I chose the wee Fish and Chips which was plenty to eat. The haddock was firm and flaky, the batter delicious, the chips (or fries to you Yanks) were golden and lightly crispy. The coleslaw very cool creamy and tasty and balanced the dish perfectly. I asked for some curry on the side to dip the chips and glad I did. We both really enjoyed our meals. I had a Smithwick's ale. They've got a pretty extensive beer selection. Service was a little on the slow side but we could see it was due to limited number of waitstaff. We were there around 3 PM.
