I was pleasantly surprised to discover their professional workmanship and vast knowledge of most things automotive and mechanical. My last visit (today) was to get tires on my vintage Toyota Pickup. Again I was very pleased that Jeff took extra time to be particularly careful with everything involved to not scratch the rims, get a perfect balance and generally just treat my vehicle like it was solid gold! My Ford Expedition died while on the way there and had to be towed. I called them just after 8am and spoke to the owner Dillon, he looked up the needed parts and said they'd be happy to help. I was towed there and by 9:30 they were working on my vehicle. Before noon Jeff the mechanic changed the alternator, belt and battery and I was on the road before NOON!!! Today, 11/17/2014, I went back to the shop to tell the owner, Robert, that I would like to come to…read moresome kind of resolve. Since I last talked to Robert I opened the door and examined what was going on. The regulator was installed incorrectly! There are three posts that mount the regulator to the motor for the power window. When it was installed, one of the screws was overtightened and it broke one of the posts. Therefore, the regulator was allowed movement, in relation to the motor, and then came unwound. So ultimately, it failed too. On top of that, as I stated in the previous review, more hardware was missing. I'm not just talking about finishing hardware, but the were two major component "structural" bolts missing! Now we are looking at a total disregard for the customer's safety. Also, a T25 bolt that is part of the disassembly was stripped and ground to accommodate a flathead screwdriver. What a botch job this shop did! I explained to Robert my findings. I then asked for my money back, just for the parts. Robert refused. He told me that he would take a look at it if I would leave it with him. No way! I do not trust this shop's ability. I told him I do not want anyone in his shop working on my car. I offered to remove the door panel and bring it in for him to look at it so that he can give me money back just for the parts. He refused again. I told him that he "sucks" and that I just want my money back so we can go our separate ways. He not only ordered me off his property, he also told me "F**k you Brad, f**k you." I guess at Portola Automotive Repair Robert is always right, not the customer. I may not be an auto mechanic by trade, but I am no dummy. My inspection of the extremely amateur work done by this shop is ridiculous. I think Robert is used to pulling the wool over unsuspecting peoples eyes. Sorry Robert, you have been exposed for the shyster you are. Your lot is also looking a little bare these days. Imagine that! Looks like we might have to go to court. PLEASE, do yourself and your family a favor and take your cars and trucks else where.

They could have easily sold me on replacing my timing chain, gears and all the parts that it takes to rebuild that area but instead I was advised that it would be best to have the transmission checked out first before spending $2500 to $3000 with them. The car is only worth about $5000 so it wouldn't be worth spending all that money on it to then have the transmission break down on me and I would have to spend another 4-5K. Thank you for honesty!
