I love this place. Eat there often. Never disappointed. I love their tuna fish sandwich on toast and the broccoli salad.

The start of my first official day in Kentucky kicked off at Eastgate Family Restaurant. My friend…read morewho's from here advised that Eastgate Family Restaurant has the best breakfast in the city. Based on what he said I had to go. As Eastgate Family Restaurant sits in a parking plaza there is ample parking. Upon walking it you are met with a sign to seat yourself. The restaurant is huge but has the feel of a small down home diner. The decor is very simple and dominated by gray tones. Once seated we were greeted by Lisa who was all smiles and midwest charm. The menu has an abundance of options but the breakfast section was calling my name. LoL! As I watched the servers bring out some other dishes I had to think long and hard about what I wanted. Being that my tastebuds we're all over the place I decided to go A-La-Carte, don't judge me. Food: Grits - The grits were plain. There was nothing special about them overall but they satisfied my desire for some grits. The serving size was very generous and after adding 6 packs of butter I was happier. LoL! Bacon (well done) - The bacon was the bomb. It was thick and well done just how I like it. Even with being well done it still had the robust flavor profile of smoked pork. Truth be told, I would come back for the bacon alone. Home Fries (well done and add onions) - The home fries were thinly sliced which made the crispyness even better. Though they were thin they still had the softness in the middle. They hit the spot. Overall, Eastgate Family Restaurant was a good meal with great service at a great price. It's worth a visit if you're in the area and looking for home cooked flavor without having to cook it.

My husband loved the eggs. The biscuit tasted like it was made from scratch. We ordered the pecan pie because it was the special. It was so good! The coffee was okay and hot in its yeti mug. I thought they could use someone to bus tables, cause when we walked in there were quite a few dirty tables and flies on the left over food. That almost turned me around, but I'm glad we stayed! If I was a local, I'd be a regular!

We stumbled across this restaurant on our trip to Evansville to visit the LST, and the Cross Eyed…read moreCricket was nearby. Trusting their website advice to overlook the appearance of their restaurant, which is located in an older house in a more industrial area, we decided to have dinner in a non traditional restaurant, and we were very glad that we did. The service was excellent, so friendly and efficient that we could have been in a 5 star restaurant. But you wouldn't find food that good in most fancy restaurants. We started with a plate of fried green tomatoes, and while no one is ever going to fix them as well as Daddy did in his iron skillet, they provided a dip to join them that was quite good... certainly, not one that Daddy ever thought of! Auntie had the pulled pork dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy & apple sauce. She ordered the appetizer brussell sprouts, and they were amazing! Hubby went with one of his favorite meals: fried catfish; yes, he almost inhaled it! As always, his German fried potatoes were great, and what can you really say about cottage cheese? It was there, and he ate it I went for the kubuki steak with fried cabbage & onions & mushrooms. The fried rice was delicious, but the ribeye took "delicious" to a whole new level! Oh! My goodness! It practically melted in my mouth! And the cabbage!! Wonderful! The "50's" down-home furnishings were likely family hand-me-downs & yard-sale finds, not particularly pretty but serviceable and authentic. Everything was very clean, even the too-small restroom, which reminded me of the first one my grandmother ever had in her house. Again, it was clean, but there was a leak on the restroom floor, something that can easily be repaired. If you are looking for upscale decor, don't come here. But if you want terrific food, friendly service, and a delightful experience, be sure to visit the Cross Eyed Cricket; it's wonderful! I understand there's a sister Cross Eyed Cricket in a three-story building right in the middle of the charming downtown. Their food might be almost as good as we had, but I think the lost atmosphere will detract from the visit. It's your call!

Funnel cakes are made with a funnel. What you have is fried toast. 2nd my breakfast came cold, Not even the butter on the top of the potatoes would melt. I sent it back. Instead of preparing an entirely new plate as should have happened it was microwaved and returned to me. So my over medium eggs became hard eggs. The sausage was not freshly prepared but have been sitting on the grill, kept slightly warm and dried out , in other words it had been precooked and it was awful.. It was clear that I was very displeased. Consequently,, the restaurant comped my bill without my asking. Not sure what I would recommend except that the basics of the food hot and not cold making sure that it is perfect - over medium means over medium, not hard. Advertise something as a funnel cake then Google how to make funnel cakes otherwise advertise it as fried bread. Morr and more restaurants are going to having the bacon and the sausage sitting on the side of the grill and that is just gross. Certainly staff were very nice and prompt for the exception of letting my meal get cold before they gave it to me. And I fell that they were trying hard. Would I recommend them to someone else? No. Would I return? No
