But, on Friday's and Saturday's from 4:30pm-8:30pm it transforms into something magical. A self serve of catfish(whole & fillets), butterfly shrimp, french fries, hushpuppies, baked potatoes, fried okra, mac n cheese, beans, and more! No fluff, just good people, serving up good food! The staff are kind and welcoming, and the other patrons are your neighbors holding friendly conversations while everyone fixes their plates. It's one of the few places where folks of various backgrounds, ethnicities, and demographics, break bread together and respect each other. For that reason alone, it's worth venturing out. Ran into a snag when one of my Christmas tins came out of the box "dented", not the fault of the Pecan House staff. It was mishandled by USPS. These folks are extremely conscientious and their products are of the finest quality. I love everything that I have received. I am glad my TV was on the right channel to see their ad. It had been over an hour since we were seated and had only 2 salads and 2 kids meals and we decided we were done. (We also noticed black specks in the salt shaker that was not pepper!) Manager came out looking bothered and said "I want to hear what the issue is"...we explained and she was very defensive and said they would remake the salads and the food was ready to come out. We explained it had been over an hour and the restaurant was pretty empty and we were unhappy. She was still acting bothered and telling us they had already made the food and didn't offer anything to make it right until we brought up the salad and said "well I can refund two salads if you want". After noting it was a birthday on the reservation and having family there who had previously also had a bad experience, it is safe to say we will not be back again. Place looks very nice but management needs to learn how to handle unhappy customers and the ridiculous 1 hour wait with no food (or food with bugs!) much better.

One of the female owners said that someone left the job. I'm not sure if they got fired or they walked out. My steak was very dry although they did redo it again. It was dry again. I understand her husband's not a professional cook. I'd say get a professional cook for such a premium steak that we're ordering and paying . It took them more than half an hour to bring me the 2nd overcooked steak. By that time, I was not hungry anymore, despite the restaurant being empty. Maybe 2 more tables being served. My husband called to make reservations was told that they would make it a nice anniversary dessert for us. When we asked about it he anniversary dessert. The waiter told us next time call ahead of time and let us know, when we did! I'm sorry to say I don't recommend this place at all. It may be premium steak but when you ruin it by overcooking it the way we ordered then it's not premium steak at that point. It's leather . Everything's ruined by then.
