Place is legit, some of the best drinks I've had since moving here. The Kentucky is probably my favorite, and I'm not a fan of drinks with grapefruit in them. The two bartenders know their drinks, and the cocktails are priced decently. Highly recommend if you all you want is an amazing cocktail and possibly some pizza at the pizza place at the corner. read more

This place has a few hiccups. I ordered off menu and asked for a Bees Knees to which the bartender had no idea what it was... mind you, a Bees Knees is a classic prohibition type mixology drink.. Gin, lemon juice and honey. He didn't make it right and did try his best to correct it (without diluting it with sugar) when I sent it back... but it still did not taste close. It was tasty and he gets points for really caring and trying, but it still at the end, was not the classic Bees Knees. They didn't have lemon syrup and not even Honey! Other minor flaw- they served it in a high ball glass and not a low ball glass or champagne saucer glass. I wish they had an iPad or a book to reference for drinks. I like this place's vibe so I'll frequent it again and try more drinks. Definitely have their cardamom rye on the list as well as a few mezcal's they offer. It's by far better than Scott & Co in my opinion but still not as good or experienced as the big SF/TX/LA/NY mixology bars with their selection and knowledge. read more

We went for late-afternoon, post-movie cocktails and snacks. Both cocktails (W had the "Bowed and Tied, forget my daughter's) were reported as great. My "softtail" (NA for the designated driver) was great too. They're light on the snack selection, it's just not that type of place. But, soft-cheese, crackers and multi-variety of olives actually worked out just fine. The design, the decor and especially the windows make this a nice place. We recommend it and we'll be back. If you like the trend to creative mixes, herbs and fruit juice in cocktails made with small batch liquors, you'll enjoy it too. Love coming here! Cool little spot just far enough from downtown. Very chill atmosphere & quaint. Mixologist are great which is what you pay for as far as drinks. Interesting selection if you're up for trying unusual combinations. Check this place out if douchey college kid bars aren't your scene. read more

I LOVE the new Sidecar bar. Since it was my first time here, I figured, why not order a sidecar (beer with a shot on the side). They have about 6 beers on draft and maybe 15 more in bottles. As a beer snob, I thought they had a good selection. The ambiance is great. While I thought it would be small, it actually felt quite spacious. They have a long bar with seating in addition to both indoor and outdoor seating. It has a very trendy feel, yet at reasonable prices. Very clean and well decorated. All the bartenders were very nice and attentive. I plan to come back to try some of the fancy cocktails!!! read more

The Classic Cocktails should be called Classically Inspired Cocktails. Drinks were overly complicated with too many flavors and there's nothing complicated about Classic Cocktails. I truly didn't care that the person who designed the drink menus at Wilko and Penca did this drink menu. Why is that a good thing? Prices were in line with other establishments with similar quality. I really wanted to like this place, but we were disappointed with the drinks. We stopped in here for a cocktail on a whim after dinner at Sushi Garden around the corner. We have been big fans of Scott & Co. and were excited to see another upscale cocktail bar pop up. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed sitting on the patio. The service was attentive but there seemed to be some confusion with orders, possibly because they had only recently opened and wrinkles were still being ironed out. The problem came when we opened the menu. The cocktail menu was not very long, and we both struggled to find something that really got us excited. We ordered a gin drink and a whiskey drink, and were both disappointed. Mine was called the "Kentucky," and it seemed like there was just an incredible amount of bitters in it, so much so that I could hardly taste any of the other components of the drink. Because it's such a nice spot we'll probably give it another try, but I'll be hoping for better cocktails the next time. read more

Very cool, swanky little place. Small menu with a smattering of creative choices. We went for a Negroni, Kentucky, Cosmonaut and a draft beer with a sidecar of bourbon. Alright, alright, it turned into a little more than that but no one was keeping track after the first round. All the drinks were nicely put together and were served with not the friendliest smile but still attentive. Just found out about this place, and I was really impressed on my first visit. Décor was chic/hip without being annoyingly so. The space is small, but airy and well-lit with large windows facing the sunset. The drinks were excellent. I tried the Oaxaca Dry Sour and the Cosmonaut. Both were not merely good, but new and interesting to my palate. I enjoyed a good conversation with Bo the bartender, who told me a lot about the drinks I'd ordered, and mixology in general. Drinks are in the more expensive range for Tucson (8, 9, 10 dollars) but they are extremely well-made and use top-quality ingredients. So not cheap, but IMO worth the money. You could compare Sidecar to Scott & Co at 47 Scott in this way. I'm glad we are getting more bars that take mixology seriously, and I'm willing to pay more for a really good drink. However at Sidecar the bartenders are nice, not dicks. And the tables aren't piled up with the glassware of previous customers, and coated in sticky drink-stains that you always have to clean up yourself (Scott & Co's major weakness). Will definitely be going back here. Great place to take a date for one or two high-quality warm-up drinks. read more

I am happy to report back that I gave Sidecar another try. I sat at the bar this time which may have made the difference. The bar tender was friendly yet not overly so. The wait person handling the tables seemed cool and composed. It was a little dark to read the menus but the atmosphere was intimate because of the dim light. Had two Bowed and Tied and the snacks. Both were successful. The dink was complex and delicious. I will return for sure, sooner rather than later. The only draw back was the uppity pretentious bar tender (manager maybe?) who came in later in the evening and brow beat and chided our bar keep in an openly condescending way that made us want to defend such a likable guy. Seems like the owner is working through some of the staffing issues. Hope they continue to do so. Would love to make this my new regular. read more

You walk in to a sophisticatedly designed space including a wall made of leather, a backlit subway tile bar backsplash, and a funky color accent from the key-lime colored booths. Even when busy, I've had the acknowledgement of staff and attentive service. The menu doesn't disappoint with many riffs on classics including the bar's namesake interpretation of the side car. It doesn't stop there however, interpretations of the mint julep and the dark & stormy not only give respect to their roots but also take a step forward into modern mixology. The menu itself has some more adventurous options from the Rye Hanky Panky which is unapologetically bold with notes of cardamom, chocolate, and smoke to the Garden Song which is nothing less than a botanical adventure. The bartenders are incredibly talented and are accommodating to certain cocktail requests. One visit we brought an out of town friend who wanted a "kick ass margarita" and Sidecar followed through with just that. Serving local beers and small plates, there's something for everyone here. Oh, I get it now! The craft cocktail scene is a rip off. Took me a minute there. The 'tender has all these tinctures, fragrances, elixirs, renderings etc and he/she uses an eye dropper, grater, chopper, muddler or smasher to put together 5-6 ingredients with 1.50 oz's of unique booze to make a tiny cocktail for 10 bucks. Sidecar is excellent at this so after about 8 minutes to make a cocktail, it's gone in 2. And your money was gone in several seconds. Voila! The craft cocktail scene is explained. read more

I really like what this place has to offer. The look of it is really cool. It has this modern feel and I feel like I'm in New York or some place industrial. Which I'm really into that taste and feel. The bartender was really friendly and educated me on the wine tasting (which he did an amazing job in getting it done). Aside from the wine they make their own house bourbon which they add to their cocktails. There were some pretty neat style drinks they made, one had the fire added to help caramelize the sugar on top of the drink and another required special lemon spray mist. You can actually see how they put work into making these ingredients in the back without using pre-made. The atmosphere can be romantic with the dimming of the lights. I could see it being a great spot to bring a date to drink and socialize at. I will definitely return! read more

I'm more of a wine gal, but this place is all about the cocktails. Prices are reasonable for craft cocktails, with many in the $9-10 range. The menu is extensive, but luckily, my bartender knew his stuff and made me a WISCONSIN OLD FASHIONED, BRANDY SWEET. This is a big deal, people. He muddled up some fancy cherries and an orange with a sugar cube, threw in the bitters, mixed in a heaping shot of brandy brandy, and a good splash of soda on top; even topping it off with an orange and a gorgeous cherry garnish. It was definitely the closest I've had to a perfect Wisco drink since moving here last Spring, and now I know where I can go to get my fix. It was popping on a weeknight after work, and the place it small, so definitely arrive early if you have a group! read more

To start, the drinks are amazing. Individually made with care and such interesting mixology that it keeps bringing you back for more. Ari has been around for years and has had a great success with his startups, and I am always more down to go to a local place than a chain bar. The price: a little high for what you get. The glasses are small, and I'm always left wanting more (though I suppose that's the point). The ingredients are top notch, so that helps a little with my justifying it. The service: leaves a lot to be desired. Bars get busy, I get it. But having only one person making drinks, one person taking orders and bar backing, and over 10 people waiting for drinks, all comes out to a poor situation. Drinks also take a lot of time and care to make, not a problem in general, except when you have ten people waiting for drinks. I was asked four times what I wanted to order, I responded the same way, four times. Even after all that, I still got the wrong drink. Got remade without so much as a second glance (again, super busy, no time to sit around on their part) and all was well. Consider adding another person behind the bar, especially on busy nights. All in all, for little tiny bar, they put out a great product. Fix the service issue and I would be there weekly. read more

In one of my favorite drinks, the Oaxaca Dry Sour, you will be treated to desiccated lime, habanero shrub, and absinthe...how's that for an interesting beverage!? Love this place! We tried it for the first time yesterday. I love their unique and extensive drink menu. All of the drinks that we tried were SO good. I hate drinks made with a mix or where everything tastes the same - but here the drinks are all handcrafted with real ingredients and you can really taste the difference. Sidecar does it right! A classy and fun cocktail bar (with a few wine and beer options) with a cool atmosphere. There is lounge, high top, and bar seating in a relatively small spot. It's a "order at the bar" kind of place and I've never seen a true line form for a drink. Watching the bartenders make the cocktails is half the fun and they can make just about anything! Anyone who enjoys fancy liquor will be very pleased. (The only thing that I don't get about this place is their tiny tiny high top seats at some tables. No one over 100lbs would feel safe or even slightly comfortable perched up on one of those seats. They look cool but omg nobody's booty can feel good on those. Couch seating is coveted.) But I digress, this is the perfect spot for a drink after work with friends, a first date spot, or a nice end to date-night. Especially if you can snag a couch spot! read more

Wonderful addition to the plaza. Had drinks here before headed next door for pizza. Had the Kentucky, which was strong and lovely without being too booze-forward. The leather wall is an amazing feature and unlike I've seen before - and with the single pane windows gives the place a real old Tucson feel. I imagine Joesler himself would be quite happy having a drink here. It's a bit loud - the sound bounces all over the place in here and even though there were only about 20 people in here it sounded like 70 - but some are into that vibe. Pull up a stool and watch the bartenders at work! It's quite a treat to see masters at their craft. read more

The Rattler is one of, if not the, best drink I've had. The guys that run the place are cool, not too self righteous but they also know their stuff. The vibe is always energetic but not chaotic and the music is always great. It's dark which often bothers me but because of the big windows and openness of the space, it feels just right. We love this place and its our go to when we want a good cocktail, mellow but happening atmosphere and no bullshit. read more
