Quoted $1,000 to run 10 feet of propane pipe to my generator (and I am digging the trench for…read morethem!). On the plus side, they have only let me run out of heating propane twice over the last couple of winters, so that's something I guess. They destroyed my Buderus boiler a few years back with improper settings (wrong orifice and pressure set wrong). The boiler sooted up so badly it couldn't be repaired. I guess $100 per foot for a simple copper tube was the last straw.

i cannot say enough bad things about Bantam Fuel. You can't make up some of the things they have…read moredone over the years, and it's on me that I have not (yet) ended things with them. Water in the basement . . ." you need a new hot water heater:" So they quote one that's an exact match for a $600 Home Depot product, for $1,300 for the heater alone. Well that didn't happen. And in fact the hot water heater wasn't even broken. When I asked the sales person whether his unit was the same as the Home Depot unit at half the price, he literally went missing. Hmmm, so now it's time for propane tanks for a generator. So in April they tell me one thing, a month ago it's something else. On the eve of the generator being dropped, it's two different things two hours apart because the building inspector set them straight. it comes down to two things: (1) their sales staff is incompetent (TONS of turnover, for sort of obvious reasons as I feel that these folks have to bait and switch as part of their job description) and (2) they are fairly shamelessly expensive. A $2,800 tank - at retail - for . . wait for it . . . $5,400. The reason? "We're a big company and we have to make money." That's a direct quote. Not to mention they decided that they will dictate terms to the customer. With no knowledge of any of this, when the electrician heard that Bantam Fuel was doing the tank . . his reaction. "Oh no, we do everything we can to avoid them." And, probably the least of it, 15 minutes on hold to speak to anyone. The CSR who finally answered - the only good interaction of the whole thing - apologized. "We're really short staffed". Yeap. And these guys want to do more around your house? Pest control? Plumbing? Most of this work, if what I have heard around is true, is just subbed out to others with a giant markup. You are now forewarned. Do as the pros do, like my electrician. Avoid this company at all costs.

We had intermittent backup in the plumbing in our 64 year old house. The Bee came and checked things out later in the same day. Using a camera, the plumbers found (and showed me the video) of a partially caved in Clay pipe that was the main out of our house. Two days later, fixed! Turns out when the house was switched from septic to city, the plumber, (mid 1990s) used the WRONG clamp! And the inspector? Where was he/she to point that out? Who knows! But the homeowner pays the price. They viewed the rest of the pipe to the main sewer and all is well!! Timely, knowledgeable, respectful of our property, friendly, answered all my questions, put the lawn back in good shape, sent pictures to the city of the old shoddy job and their repair. I know who to call if/when I need any work done!!! Thank you, Call The Bee.

Upon evaluation, the tech suggested a full replacement, which we understood and heard him out and appreciated all the information provided it all sounded great however, the quote was significantly higher than others in the area after looking it over further so we decided not to move forward. The tech was very nice at our house however, upon leaving with no commitment from us became very overwhelming with a text that night, the following morning insisting we keep them in the loop, and a very lengthy text upon letting them know we weren't moving forward. Having work done in your home is already overwhelming but having to manage people's personalities and passive aggression that you'd like to hire to do the job or at least a future job if not this one is a whole other ballpark that homeowners probably don't need to deal with. I understand its sales, but you have to imagine clients are going to shop around and potentially not choose you for the job and try to remember you catch more bees with honey. People work hard for their money and not all want to go for the most expensive quote especially when it was the only quote they've received for a problem they just discovered and we just moved in and were not expecting a $21k out of pocket outcome in that moment. Emailed for a refund on the annually plan we paid for and have not heard back.

They left and the unit still did not work. After I called them again, they decided that they should address the sensor for an additional 700 dollars. I called my local guy who said I needed refrigerant -so he added it twice. No help. I called another guy who said I needed a new motor which he replaced. No help. I was so frustrated because we were in a heat wave. I talked to a buddy at work who recommended C&G. They came out fast. Their technician didn't look outside the house like the other 2 yahoos did, he looked inside the house and found a clogged filter inside the air handler. Presto -that was all. I signed up for my HVAC service with C&G immediately. I had an appointment with them today for my annual service- the time window was between 10:30 and 12:30. Guess who pulled into the driveway at 10:35? Great service, a nice polite gent who was professional and thorough. Thank you C&G !

Steve and his company installed our mini-splits in my house over a year ago in December/January…read more24/25. We paid $20,000 for two units. They worked fabulously for the first 8 months- we live in a Cape Cod built in the 50s with no heating devices upstairs. The bedrooms were warm and cozy in the winter, and cool in the summer. And they were so quiet! However, since installation, Ash has been flaking and ghosting me on appointments! So the background is that our mini-splits started pumping out cold air in mid-November '25. So I called for a service request, they came out, fixed it, and it only worked for a few days. I called for another service request a few weeks before Christmas, and I was told that someone would be at my house on a Friday - and no one came out, or called me to let me know they weren't. The next day I called, and they said they would come out that day [Saturday]. Their van broke down and they weren't able to come out, so Steve said he would come to my house the following day. He basically ghosted me all day until 6pm; he was out of state, and he nonchalantly replies "I was going to [come out to you] but the boiler [at my in-laws' house] had other plans for me lol." So he tells me that he would be at my house the next day, and he was and he did temporarily fix the mini-splits. He also told me that he would text me every day for a couple of weeks to make sure it was still working - and he didn't. The mini-splits broke down again. So one of his techs comes out to service it, it doesn't get fixed, and they said they "made an appointment" for April 1st. April 1st comes by, and no one has called or texted me about my service appointment. I tried to be nice and patient and give them a little time, so I wait until April 7th to text Steve, and I get ghosted again. So I call the business last week. He sounded like he understood my frustration, and said after he hung up with me, that he'll text me an appointment date. He doesn't. So I call the next day, and then he tells me we would have an appointment today on the 21st at 930 - and he doesn't show, and he ghosts me through text, and when I call the business, I get an AI voice mail instead of speaking to an actual person. So I now I have $20,000 mini splits in my house that don't work and I need to find a new HVAC company. It takes a lot for me to even leave a 1 star review, let alone a 1 star and an actual written review. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt over and over again, but since they're ignoring me, I don't really have any other choice.

The technician suggested getting a new filter, which was definitely needed, but it didn't fix the issue, so I called again a few days later. Kim had a tech over within the hour. Turned out it was owner Joey Rogers and he zeroed right in on the problem: the water line to the fridge had been turned off for some reason! Duh!! An ice-making, water-dispensing refrigerator needs a running supply of water! (Now, to be totally fair, the first guy was still in training and not having yet had multiple on-the-job experiences, I could see how easy it would be to overlook the most obvious answer. It's like calling tech support with a computer problem: a newer guy might first look for a more complex solution. The seasoned pro simply asks: "Is it plugged in?") As Joey made sure the water/ice dispenser was working properly, I went into interview mode, learning more about his company's history, their service area, the number of staff, etc. -- and I tell you, if I didn't love my job, was 30 years younger, and wanted a secure future -- I'd seriously look into the plumbing profession! When he left (saying there was no further charge), I said: "Well, welcome back to the old days!" You know when your local plumbers, electricians and the like genuinely saw their work as more than just a job, taking the time and care needed to make you a loyal, longtime customer. Kudos to all at CP&H!
