    Unable to effectively troubleshoot an issue with our DIY Mr Cool mini-split system and misdiagnosed…read morethe cause. This cost me around $350 with no results. Since my unit was under warranty, it also caused Mr Cool to send out $2,500 worth of equipment that they probably didn't need to replace. After I called another HVAC company out, we determined it was a straightforward leak after pressure test, and the other company fixed the problem. DETAILS: When I put the board into diagnostic mode it gave us a low pressure code. I told this to the Handsome Brothers tech, but turnaround time to troubleshoot was a full day due to slow response from Mr Cool. He said he got a board to equipment comms error when he followed their procedures, so he wrote up that the board was bad. This didn't make a lot of sense to me, so I went back and checked. The board/comms error code is the secondary error you get after the initial pressure error. (Low pressure causes the system to stop due to safety, then goes into board/comms error mode.) Tech probably did not actually start diagnostic mode after system reset, but I wasn't there to see what he tried. I called him over the phone and asked if he did a pressure check. He did not. I asked him to come back. He said he would later, but never called back. Based on this misdiagnosis, Mr Cool sent an entire outdoor replacement unit; however, I called another company out since I don't have a license to handle R-410a refrigerant recharge. They have worked on mini-splits before and were familiar with the Mr Cool brand. The other company's tech ran the same on-board diagnostics, verified that it was a low pressure code, and verified that the board comms error happens later as a side effect. To verify the root cause of the low pressure code symptom, he ran a pressure check and found that the leak was on the bottom fitting. Rain had gotten trapped in the covering, pulled down the copper fitting. He repaired the leak, secured/sealed/mounted the lines to prevent that problem from happening again, and recharged the system. The only reason this is a 2-star review rather than 1 is because Mr Cool's tech support is indeed hard to get hold of, not responsive unless you are a squeaky wheel (presumably due to pandemic and other things). But he should not have dismissed the problem as "bad board" after I told him about the low pressure error. I'm not an HVAC tech but I can look things up online, especially when it comes to basic things such as putting equipment into diagnostic mode. I mentioned the low pressure error 3 times and he never followed up when I asked for a pressure check. Had he done so he may have found and fixed the leak, I would have spent less money and time on this problem, and he would have been able to avoid a 2-star review.

Every year, we had to have it serviced, Freon recharged, compressor replaced etc. we just couldn't afford to have it replaced, especially knowing we would have to replace all the ductwork as well. We probably had 6 different HVAC companies out here over the five years, but Mitchell from Handsome Brothers stuck out. When we were finally ready to pull the trigger on a new system, we got quotes from five companies. We kept trying to remember the name of Mitchell's company because he really seemed the most straight forward and trustworthy of anyone else we had dealt with. Finally, my Wife started looking through two years of checkbooks and found the check we made out to Handsome Brothers for a service call. I called, and Mitchell came out the same day. Unlike the other companies who sent techs and salespeople out with a flashlight to inspect our ductwork configuration, Mitchell, unafraid to get dirty, dove under the house to personally inspect everything. His quote was just over HALF of the most expensive quote! Of course, there were unforeseen problems and the job took longer than expected. Unlike any other contractor we've dealt with, (been remodeling for five years) we were not charged any extra! Handsome Brothers is the most respectful, accommodating and hardworking group of gentlemen we have EVER experienced. I wish there were more like them. I would HIGHLY recommend them to EVERYONE. I'd say don't even go through the hassle and time waste of "auditioning" other companies. Call Handsome Brothers with confidence and be done!

    Long overdue review. JBG replaced our entire HVAC system last September and cannot recommend them…read moreenough. At a time where we are seeing Private Equity buy up many home service providers and overcharge their clients, it was a pleasure working with this family-owned business. Not only did they come in under other quotes received for comparable systems, they offered flexible financing and great customer service. Installation was quick and smooth and have had zero issues.I recommend these guys to anyone I know needing HVAC service.

I sent out a bunch of Yelp requests for HVAC…read morerepair when my a/c stopped blowing cold air and another company came to diagnose a failed compressor, with a quote for almost 4k. I sent out some additional requests for quotes on this part but almost everyone either wanted to come do another $75-95 diagnostic to say the same thing or told me the unit was too old/parts were too difficult to find so I should just replace the whole unit. Bladimir got back to me with zero hassle about just wanting a quote and had the best one out of all the people I spoke with that day, probably 15+ companies. He even had a model-specific rep for my out of date HVAC that had the parts in stock. They were able to come out to replace the compressor early afternoon the next day and were extremely responsive over text. However, when they left there was still no cold air. He came first thing the next morning and was able to diagnose that wires were also touching and causing the system to blow HOT AIR every time the a/c came on, and fixed it immediately! The compressor was still damaged and needed to be replaced, not just the wiring issue and we're not sure why they happened together, but I feel like another company would have charged for more expensive parts or just force a whole system replacement without trying to find this simple fix. He also repaired the thermostat housing which had never attached to the wall properly at no charge. 100/10. I hope I never have a/c issues again but he's the only one I would call and would a billion percent recommend him and his team to anyone needing to get cool again.
