Hate to say it but was really disappointed with my order here. On the positive the emperor chicken was pretty ok, didn't travel great, can imagine it would be better in the restaurant. Not remarkable though, have had better versions of the similar thing at other Thai places. Also ordered the Thai dumplings and the moo ping. The dumplings were weird? Super dried out. Just not tasty. The moo ping (grilled pork on a stick) was terrible. I've had this dish all over, in big cities and small towns. Never have I had it so...dry and flavorless. Moo ping usually utilizes milk, normally coconut, in the marinade and a variety of other sauces and spices. There was maybe a dab of fish sauce going on but nothing else. Tucked away by Whole Foods, Siam offers authentic Thai food with a wide selection of dishes. My hot boyfriend and I tried their duck rolls to start off our meal and oh boy, we could've ordered three more plates and called it a night. Those rolls were so delicious. Wrapped in a thin naan, each roll included crunchy carrots, fresh cucumbers, a sample of ginger, and a juicy yet crispy piece of duck. The hoisin sauce really cements the flavors and it was a symphony of flavors when it hit my mouth. I would return just for those rolls! Our entrees came out shortly later and we were pretty content with our meals as well. I do wish my curry was a bit more hotter, both in temperature and spice, but I was so blown away by the duck rolls that it didn't matter. My boyfriend tried a soup dish and was surprised to enjoy that as well. We washed everything down with some classic Thai tea and left full and happy. read more

Dining at Siam is like eating at your mom's house. It doesn't feel commercial. It feels like your mom made it for you. Everything tastes good. Portions are modest, not gargantuan. We love Thai food and have eaten thai all over the world; including in Thailand. This is great thai food with good service in a low key casual place that is good for groups. We get upset that too many restaurants are calling themselves "Thai" because it sells better than other cuisines, and still include dishes in their menu that have nothing to do with Thailand & we have found plenty of these type of so called "Fake Thai" places in the Tri-State area, but this place is not. True Thai cuisine is very different than Chinese or Japanese cuisine. This restaurant as of today seems true to its roots with a menu of simple thai dishes, and spices. At the same time, we have found people who don't know true Thai food but only what they have grown up with and/or eaten at these other "Fake Thai" restaurants looking for those fake thai dishes here, and if you are in that group - you should probably go somewhere else; maybe local chinese restaurants would work better for "Fake Thai" aficionados. The pineapple and mango rice dishes got high marks in our group along with their coconut milk soup. Their steamed vegetable dumplings were great, and only suggestion was that they need to add a few more of these to the appetizer. Always go past this place. Not sure what to expect, but figured we could try something new. Went full tapas style. Got a bunch of appetizers and had a lot of little tastes. Opted for the curry puffs, pork jerky, duck roll, chicken satay, and these spinach triangle things. Food came out promptly, server was a little surly but not off-putting. We dug into our meal and overall it was good. The stand out dish would be the pork jerky. Had a good amount of flavor and crispyness. Wasn't dry, and the dipping sauce was a nice thick barbecue. The curry puffs were slightly sweet and kind of reminded us of veggie samosas, just without the spices. The satay and spinach triangles were cooked properly but lacked any real flavor. The duck roll was a little heavy handed on the mint, which overpowered the duck and other veggies. Overall, it was a decent meal at a decent price. The only real problem with this restaurant is location. There's a lot of great places in that area, with the only saving grace is that there's no other Thai place around there. I would like to see them get a bit bolder in their flavors. If they could punch up their spices and keep the price the same, they could end up a very solid contender. For now, I would recommend them if you're specifically in the mood for Thai. For more general tastes though, there's a lot of options available. read more

These were the worst drunken noodles I've ever had. It tasted bland and I had asked for it to be spicy but it was not at all. The provided chili sauce on the side was also not spicy. The Tom Kha gai soup was okay but it had literally one piece of chicken in it, as well as the noodles having very little chicken. The soup also was also way more vinegary than I've ever had. One day I was out and it was cold and wanted something warm and filling, we were in the area and decided to eat here. They promptly sat us down and the serve was great. Ordered crab Rangoon, the filling was sooo good! It was popping hot and fresh! Totally would order it again! The cucumber salad was divine. It was a good size portion. This place caters to the local demographic. Food is bland and they are afraid to use fish sauce to offend the patrons. Don't listen to the reviews stating this is authentic Thai food. We've traveled extensively throughout SE ASIA and all over Thailand so this is not for those seeking spice and robust flavors. We saw they had Chiang Mai noodle soup (our favorite region), so I asked if it's similar to khao soi and the waiter said kinda. Our soup was basically coconut milk with little red curry, broth was white. A telltale sign of an Americanized restaurant is when there aren't condiments on the table. We took a few bites and asked for the check. On a positive note, the service was quick and efficient but we will stick to Thai restaurants in the hood. read more

Few days back, I decided to get pick up. I called and order Pad Thai and Wonton Soup. The guy on the phone said 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, I go on a work break and picked it up. Except if that happened that quick, it wouldn't be 1 star. I went inside and was told to wait. It took an extra 30 minutes for my food to come out. No explanation was ever given and I wasted an entire break and an extra 10 minutes because they were late on the meal. Worse, others who ordered after me got their meals before me. It was ridiculous. Siam of Glastonbury is located right next to Whole Foods. So a quick tip to start off for those in a hurry, in need of pricey groceries and craving Thai: Order ahead, do your groceries, pick up your meal, be on your way. It just works being right next to each other. Back to my review, Siam of Glastonbury is another comfortable Thai restaurant. I see similar faces picking up food and even recognized a family that I saw here the last time I came. Siam seems to have some very loyal customers like many restaurants do. But I've never had an occasion where I saw familiar strangers in the same restaurant, months apart. Pretty loyal if you asked me. The staff was super friendly, greeted immediately, said goodbye when we walked out, always smiling. I also noticed that there were a couple tables that knew some of the staff by name, and they were happy to see each other again, asked about each other's well being (etc.). Again, I feel like Siam's following is tight. Everyone is treated like family. One time I ordered some Beef Drunken Noodles and it was great. Noodles were mixed nicely (no white spots indicating it was not mixed into the sauce well), beef was tender, vegetables weren't overcooked and the cherry tomato explodes in your mouth in both ways. Today I had Chicken Pad See Eew. I never usually have chicken in Pad see Eew but Siam made me consider getting it again. The chicken had a nice char on it, broccoli was alright and the noodles were chewy in a good way. Some of the appetizers I've had consisted of Cocconut Shrimp, Chicken Wings and Dumplings. I've also been able to try their Tom Yum and Vegetable soup. Nothing special, everything is litterally as expected. I've been able to get a taste of a couple other meals, more like half of each one haha. These ones were actually really good. Chicken Pad Woon Sen and Tofu Pad Thai. Both are quality, I really liked the Pad Woon Sen especially. It was done right, that's all I have to say. Again, another family oriented Thai restaurant. I visited on a Wednesday evening with 4 other co-workers. It was a very short drive from our hotel and located in a strip mall. Plenty of booths and tables. Our table began with the Thai Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings, and the Crab Rangoon. The appetizers weren't greasy or oily. Very tasty and temperature hot. Enough for the table. I ordered the Thai Fried Rice with Chicken. The rest of the table ordered Chicken Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles with Chicken, and Shrimp Pad Thai. Portions were very generous. My Thai Fried Rice was excellent. Plenty of chicken. The noodle dishes were offered with a spice level from 1 to 5. Everyone who ordered with a spice level all agreed the level they had ordered was cooked to order. Nobody complained about their dishes and most of the plates went back empty. My husband's go-to is the drunken noodles extra spicy, and I get the vegetable pad Thai each time, and we split the egg rolls. Siam is my go-to place for Thai. All the classic Thai dishes are done extremely well and prices are more than reasonable. Apps: The wonton shells on their crab rangoons are super crispy and filled with a rich cream cheese + imitation crab meat mixture that is oh so indulgent. When bitten into, their soft shelled crab yields the sweetest of crab juices. Noodles: The pad Thai has just the right balance of tangy and sweet while the pad see ew bears a darker and bolder sauce without being overly salty. Both are made with rice noodles that have been cooked for the optimal amount of time and retain a bouncy, springy texture. My one complaint here are that the shrimp pad Thai is only served with two shrimp. Curries: Both the green and red curries I've tried are very fragrant thanks to the coconut and abundance of herbs thrown into the mix. Both variants also boast a wide variety of veggies, including onions, bell peppers, green beans and my personal favorite, bamboo shoots. Whenever I order curry, I am always in need of more rice because the two pair so well together! Other: The basil red snapper is fried and served whole. I love the sweetness of the basil that permeates throughout the sauce atop which the fish sits. The batter on the fish is light but very crispy. We were visiting from out of state and went to Siam in Glastonbury on a Saturday afternoon for a birthday celebration. The birthday girl is a local to Glastonbury and chose Siam. It was an excellent choice; every detail was tended to promptly and professionally. I should add we are not an easy party to please. (See below). We were a party of 6 with no reservation, we were seated immediately, received menus, and our drink orders were taken. The staff was attentive and friendly, particularly a gentleman named Nelson. I am vegetarian, another member of the party is vegan. Nelson was patient and made several recommendations on how menu items could be prepared to meet our needs. Every bite of the food was absolutely perfect! I had the Thai iced tea as did my vegan teen (they made the vegan one with coconut milk). We shared an order of summer rolls which were fresh and delicious. However, the sauce was too spicy for me, so we requested peanut sauce and it was delivered quickly. I had the drunken noodles and my teenager had the pad Thai. We agreed it was the best Thai food we've had. I should add that we also arrived with a cake(!) Nelson not only stored it, cut it, and served it to us complete with candles without missing a beat but also brought some complimentary fresh mango sticky rice. Having lunch at Siam Glastonbury was a very pleasant experience. First of all, I was surprised at how large the dining room was, I was expecting a smallish interior but the storefront view is very deceptive. Siam is quite large. I went for one of the lunch specials -for between $8-12, I had a choice of soup or salad and 28 entrees. I went for the Tom Yum Soup and Drunken Noodles with chicken ($9). The soup was very good, with a mildly spicy and tasty broth and lots of mushrooms and chicken. The Noodles were the wide Ho Fun type with basil, chilis, tomatoes, peppers, and onions. The menu gave it three hotness stars and I'd say that was pretty much on the money. It was a tremendous dish. Decor is very nice, service as attentive and friendly, the value was very good. The venue was spacious with plenty of seating for small and large groups. Modern, clean, and a positive vibe. The service was quick and friendly. They had just opened their doors but was glad to start serving. Prices were reasonable and the lunch specials can't be beat. Entree + soup/salad for under $10. I ordered the pad see ew and tom Kha, as well as the calamari. The tom Kha has got to be the best soup Of it's kind that I've had. It was flavorful, but could do with a bit more protein. It had plenty of mushrooms and onions but could do with more chicken. The calamari was surprisingly well cooked. Usually the squid is over cooked and becomes very chewy but this dish didn't disappoint. The batter was crunchy and not overly oily. I enjoyed this dish a lot too. Finally the pad see ew was slightly underwhelming. The size/portion was a little on the small side. The ingredients looked fresh but there was an odd flavor to it that I couldn't explain. I get pad see ew a lot and this was different. Might just be my palette but again noodles and meat were tender and cooked well. Overall, enjoyed my lunch and will be back to try more dishes.
