This place by far is better than any shrimp or wing place I've ever been to. The owners there (Nicky & Jane) are so warm and welcoming. They treat you just like family. They take pride in their business, it's so clean, so quaint and the food is impeccable. I don't mind taking the 40 minute drive to just enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and delicious shwings! With a name like shwings and it's location next to errrr, adult establishments, we decided to check this place, and only this place, out for lunch. We got bored of the typical places we go to. So leave the Yelp to guide us here. You can make all the jokes you want about the name of the place, but the food here speaks for itself. Yes everything is fried. Fried chicken wings fried cod fried onion rings fried fries Fried shrimp fried everything. They also have a frog legs and pulled pork as well. I want with the chicken wings. Shocking. Had them dipped in their signature buffalo sauce in these wings were damn good. We waited about seven minutes after we order to get our food. This meant quality and freshness. I also nibbled on the cod and onion rings as well. And they were also awesome. The fries are fresh cut potato fries but they are not limping greasy. Definitely is a place where we will be coming back. A seven piece chicken wing meal which includes fries and a drink is only around $8. And believe me it was a lot of food. I did not even make a dent in the fries. I can see how this place can get a lot eight 2 AM business if they were open that late. Just saying. Love me some chicken wings and things. read more

Growing up on the far southeast side of Chicago I was lucky enough to live within walking distance from the iconic Calumet Fisheries. IMO they have the best fried shrimp in the Chicago land area. Since moving from my old stomping grounds many years ago, I have tried fried shrimp from many establishments but they have all fell short compared to Cal Fish. I just moved to the Elmhurst area and had a taste for you guessed it, fried shrimp. So on to yelp I went and did a quick search of the area and up popped Shwings. I took the 10 minute drive and boy am I glad I did. Shwing's fried shrimp is as good as it gets. Fresh, perfectly breaded and full of flavor. The staff there are very friendly and personable and they really take pride in giving their customers a excellent product. read more

Another over priced wing store but at least this one doesn't appear to be a major corporation. This is a small place where wings taste about the same as where you can get anywhere else. The fries are bad and service is really sow. It takes them forever t cook the wings. They have plenty of wing styles to choose from so if your into variety of wings the this is the place. I am a Johnsons Door County and Fish loyalist. Having said that, Shwings is WAY closer to me. Jumbo Shrimp out of this world, love love love. I've had the coleslaw it's ok. Despite being a self -professed "foodie" KFC is still the gold standard. Yeah I know....... I also tried the banana cake last time, fantastic! Anyway fast friendly service, the woman working the front is a doll. The guy sometimes at the front seems to be crabby, and gruff. I have been here several times and have "run" into sketch sitting at tables inside. Have not tried wings nor do I think I ever will. I don't get them?? Only option i have is 1 star for this joint. I tried it because it was close and convenient and it had 4 stars. I don't know why. There wings are BAD. I bought a 20 piece and YUCK. The meat is hard. Had many veins and the skin is tough thick and had many unplucked feathers. I would never go here and waste my money nor would i recommend it to ANYONE. 0 STARS if it was possible!!!! read more

If you are looking for delicious, huge jumbo shrimp, get over to SCHWINGS right now! I have not had such succulent, juicy fried shrimp in ages. The shrimp are lightly breaded, none of this tons of breading on teeny-tiny shrimp business. My grandson had the popcorn shrimp, we shared an order of fries, fried oysters and calamari. Next time, I'm getting an order of the fried oysters for each of us, none of this sharing stuff - that's how delicious they were! I have tried other menu items like their stuffed artichokes - also amazing! I must also mention how really nice the owners, Jayne and Nicki are - they definitely train their staff to take care of the customer. Shwings has the best shrimp, fish, wings, fries and cheesecake I have ever had!!! The menu is outstanding! They have something for everyone and trust me, you won't be disappointed. The prices are extremely reasonable. Don't waste your money at Buffalo Wild Wings or wing stop. Nothing is frozen here- everything is fresh. It tastes homemade and I've learned because it is! I was told to try this restaurant and when i got there the first thing i craved for is the catfish. Looks like i found the right place for some yummy catfish. in spite that the price doesn't even cost much. I may have used "diamond in the rough" one too many times but this is the true diamond in the rough! At no time do you think, in Melrose Park on Manheim Rd, that there could be an outstanding place with fabulous food and a clean restaurant with 5 star service but this gem is it. Best wings I have ever had...without question!!!! Even better, the staff was outstanding...like the ownership took pride in taking care of their employees because THEY truly cared. Clean. Swift. And just plain awesome. I will go out of my, and have done so, to get the chicken wing magnificence this golden heaven of Chicken wing glory has to offer. if you read this yelp in Nebraska and come to Chicago, go the extra few miles to find Schwings and marinate yourself in the wonderfullness of their fare. My husband loves fried shrimp, but his favorite is in the city on the south side which we are not in that area often living in the burbs. So on the way home from the Hawks game we exited on Mannheim to try Shwings....oh my, my, we have found our new shrimp stop! First let me say the place is immaculate, I can see the kitchen gleaming from behind the counter...ahh that is always refreshing! There are plenty of tables to stay and enjoy your meal at. So we started with the shrimp with buffalo dipping sauce and hand cut fries...D'Lish!!! The sauce has a good kick to it and seasoned well. The shrimp was plump and fresh with perfect breading. Not too dense and it had a slight crisp when you bite into it and I can tell the oil used for frying was clean and of good quality. I consider myself a "fry whore" and with that self proclaimed title I can tell you these fries were worth every calorie! So we had to try the wings which we got the buffalo sauced ones and also the Parmesan garlic wings, there are several sauces to choose from, which I will be back to try the others, for sure! Once again worth the calories! You must end your visit with a slice of homemade banana cake, probably the best banana cake ever! The owner, Nicki, was there and she was so welcoming and friendly even at 10:30 pm. I can tell she is very passionate about her food and she knows her stuff. Shwings is a combination of a wing stop and seafood restaurant. I have yet to try any of the seafood but I definitely do recommend the wings. They are Very cheap but Very good. The owners are really nice people and so are the customers. The restaurant is quite small, so keep in mind that there isn't alto of space. They do have 1 TV for sports and the decor is fairly simple. Overall I give this review a 5/5 because it is Cheap, Good, Fast, and Friendly. read more

Excellent chicken tenders. Very large servings. Best jumbo shrimp I've ever had. Good selection of sauces. Very nice eating area if you want to dine in. I have ordered ahead for parties and my guests are always complimentary about the food and serving size. They delivered the food hot and on time. This is it! If you've been looking for one of those places that bread their shrimp as you order it.... This is your place. Fresh seafood is the motto here....light golden batter compliments the fish. Did I forget to mention the great calamari? WOW!! Lightly battered done right! The owners are great and every time I've been there.....it's been a joy.
