On the wedding day, Saturday, February 17, driver called at 11:32am to confirm service and to say that service may be late because they had a pickup in Key West at the Airport and service may not start until 3:30pm or 4:00pm, which was unacceptable. Driver called back at 2:52pm and said he was still in Key west. He called a third time at 4:09pm to say he was one key (30 minutes away), by which time nearly all the guests had made their way to the wedding venue (changing travel plans and causing chaos). I disputed the charge through PayPal which has a fairly useless dispute process - although Florida Keys Shuttle offered to refund $450. Luckily, my PayPal is paid via an American Express card and I filed a dispute with AmEx and it was granted within a week and they reversed the charge. Don't waste your time with these unreliable fraudsters.

On the receipt it doesn't tell us it's non-refundable. When I reached out to Ron, he refused to answer calls and emails. Finally I reached him and he denied that he was the company I booked with. When I confronted him with evidence that he was indeed the man I booked with, he claimed he took a shuttle out of service to accommodate us, even though we cancelled 10 days before the trip. They showed up 20 minutes early to pick us up. I explained to the driver that we would not be ready until our pickup time and saw that he had passengers in the van. He was anxious to get to the airport so I told him he could go and I would drive to the airport. He asked if that would be too much trouble and I said we would be fine. He told me to call the office and explain what happened and he sped off. I called the office number and told them everything. The sound of dishes clinking and a baby crying got me thinking this wasn't as big a company as I thought. She thanked me and hung up. The day before our return to Florida, I got an email about our pickup at the airport. I replied that I did not get a ride to the airport, I drove. I had previously called the office and explained everything. Obviously, if I drove to the airport instead of taking the round trip ride, I would not need the second leg of the trip. A couple weeks later I noticed a charge on my credit card from them. I emailed to ask them for a refund. They said I refused service on the ride to the airport and cancelled too late for the return. They charged me for both rides! I guess it's my fault for not checking their Yelp reviews.

We travel with my toddler, and they always have had a car seat available for us. If you're being picked up from a cruise ship, I recommend calling the dispatcher as you are leaving your cabin or dining room, instead of waiting until you are off the ship like they recommend. The port has really sped up the disembarking process, so getting off the ship only takes a few minutes if you wait for the bulk of travelers to get off. (Pro Tip: Have breakfast and people watch. There's no sense trying to be the first people off the ship unless you have a flight to catch.) The traffic at Port Miami is awful and you will be waiting in the heat until your driver arrives.

We stayed in a Captain's Suite and requested both a room cleaning and balcony cleaning (bird droppings had accumulated on the balcony) around 10 AM. The front desk wrote down our room number and assured us it would be taken care of. When we returned around 3:30 PM, neither had been done. By after 4:30 PM, the room had finally been cleaned, but the balcony still hadn't been addressed. When you pay extra for a premium room and oceanfront balcony experience, this feels disappointing. There also seems to be a mild pigeon issue, and balcony maintenance should really be part of a regular checklist. Some simple bird deterrents or more proactive cleaning would go a long way. * Concierge/text support didn't materialize - We were told we'd receive a concierge-style welcome text shortly after check-in for support/questions. Unfortunately, we never received it. To make matters worse, the room phones didn't work, meaning concerns had to be addressed in person while waiting in the front desk line. * Food quality was inconsistent - Salt + Ash was phenomenal, but not every dining experience matched that standard. Tiki Grill: Great drinks and atmosphere, but the food was forgettable, under-seasoned, and not something we'd order again. Fine in a pinch. Angler & Ale: Beautiful waterfront views and exceptional staff, but the food leaned heavily fried and felt more like average bar food than resort dining. Fish and chips were disappointing. Oddly enough, the banana split ended up redeeming the meal. * Convenience store prices were shocking - Convenient? Yes. Affordable? Not even close. A few sodas and snacks escalated to $60+ surprisingly fast. I expected a slightly easier option versus restaurant pricing, but the markup felt extreme. * Parking costs add up - Valet runs about $40/day and self-parking is roughly half, but expect around a 10-minute walk with luggage, making valet feel almost mandatory. FINAL THOUGHTS Despite some communication breakdowns and uneven food experiences, we truly enjoyed our stay. The Captain's Suite, peaceful balcony views, fire pit at night, lagoon, beach access, pickleball, and pet-friendly atmosphere made for memorable moments. My advice: upgrade to the Captain's Suite, eat at Salt + Ash (seriously, get the beef tenderloin), enjoy the tiki drinks, walk the grounds, soak in the sun, and be selective about food choices elsewhere. Use the convenience store sparingly. Fix the housekeeping/communication gaps, improve how guests can raise concerns without standing in line, and clean those balconies consistently--and this place could easily become a 5-star destination.
