After Hurricane Ian we decided to upgrade our metal hurricane panels. This was a pain and involves too much labor putting up then taking down. Angela showed up gave me a quote and military discount. I was told it would be several weeks before installation. The new county permit accordian shutters were installed in less than 1.5 hours. Now it takes 5 minutes to close and lock all of these new shutters. The old metal panels takes an hour just to get them out and ready to screw into the exterior wall. I did not get hurricane shutters for the patio sliding glass door because repairs may be needed. read more

I am a "real" customer and also a former general contractor and hard to please. We purchased a very wide (145") electric roll-down shutter for our 3-panel patio/lanai sliding door area from 239. We had hurricane rated windows elsewhere so that was all we needed. Prior to selecting 239, I got bids from eight, yes eight vendors. 239 was not only the most cost effective, but Frank the sales manager was awesome - just a great guy and truly knowledgeable. He's been in the business for quite some time. Also, Victoria, who seems like she runs the place :-) is fantastic - she is organized, super sweet, and accommodating! Armando and Nos the installers, were meticulous. They did an excellent job, obviously knew what they were doing, were super friendly, explained a lot of things, laughed and cleaned up completely after themselves. Jarod (J-rod?) the electrician is a super young, very smart and very chill guy. Another guy that did meticulous work - he did the electric install exactly the way I asked (and of course within code). So, in summary, in going with 239, we definitely did not sacrifice quality or customer service for price! I couldn't recommend Shutters239 any stronger! I'd like to start this review by saying we are not from the area, therefore, are very cautious when hiring unknown contractors. After getting prices we hired Shutters 239 to install 3 mesh shutters on the lanai. The salesperson/owner seemed to be congenial and fair. They required a down payment to order the special made shutters which is understandable but still a bit unnerving. We put it on a credit card which would have given some recourse in case the company did not show up to complete the job. The installers showed up as promised and were very friendly and professional. At the end of the day the project was almost complete with the exception of the city inspection and trim covers that still needed installed. The installers asked for the balance due which we were willing to pay minus a retainer until the job was complete. When the installer called the owner to see what they should do, the owner got irate and rude and said he wouldn't accept anything but full payment. If we didn't pay in full they would uninstall the shutters. Wow!! Five minutes later the owner called back and said to hold $500 until the job was entirely complete. Two work days later everything was done and the $500 was paid. Too bad the project had to end that way. Up until that point we had a positive feel for the company. There is another review with the same experience so it wasn't just a "bad day" reaction. We are the owner of a service company in PA and would never ask for payment until the job is complete read more

Before considering Shutters239, consider the cost of their labor for maintenance and/or repairs. I had this company install shutters three years ago. The product and installation were very good. That being said, wasps sometimes build nests in the shutters, which causes some shutters to freeze up. This, course, is no fault of Shutters239. However, a call for service is billed out at just under $189 an hour, which seems excessive. Yet, I did agreed to the rate. What I wasn't told is this: any labor over an hour and ten minutes gets billed for another hour, which is most definitely excessive. Consequently, a crew was here for 1.5 hours, but Shutters239 billed for 2 hours of labor. Why should I be forced to pay for labor that was never applied? At a minimum it, this seems unfair. So when you shop around, before dropping a chunk of change on storm shutters, make a point to inquire about the labor rates and billing practices. read more

I saw a news clip of Shutters239 helping those of us caught up by the scam artist company and reached out. Tried to coordinate getting an estimate. Good not even get past first base. This is not a good company if you are a snow bird.. I tried to get an estimate and they said I had to physically be there in order to get an estimate. I had 3 other companies do estimates without me there, as all they needed to do is measure the outside of the windows for accordion shutters. Requiring me to fly to Florida just to get an estimate is poor business practice. read more
