Felt shady, like collusion between regulars and dealers. Probably won't ever be back.

There are good people I like who work here so it's unfortunate that I have to share this review. I have Wilson's disease which is a disability that affects my central nervous system. My hands shake, when it gets colder, it shakes worse. I used to wear cut off gloves to this game because they kept my hands warm and decreased my shaking and a dealer said he wanted to give me a cup of soup , implying that I guess I look like a homeless person, which is probably true. I wasn't insulted by the comment. It was just insensitive, and I knew he meant no harm by it it. When possible, I sit in the 1 or the 9 seat which is closest to the dealer. I sat in the ninth seat most recently, and I would say fold instead of pushing my cards and the cards are literally next to the dealer and I guess she didn't like that too much because she said something smart about it along the lines of " I guess I'll fold your hand for you. "I said I have a condition that makes my hand shake. It's easier if I just say fold To which she replied, you're not getting any sympathy from me. Nobody wants sympathy. A little empathy would be considerate. It sucks having a disability. It sucks even more that you have to explain yourself. Some of the staff can use some disability sensitivity training. On a good note, All the managers here are really cool and professional. When I asked to exchange my chips to lessen my stack, they help me put it together and of course I always tip. I know my condition can sometimes slow the game down so I tip generously and I am considerate at making fast decisions. read more

Avoid at all costs. Dealers help certain regulars by "faulting" cards to get a rerun. All players at table agreed with me that there is something shady going on in this poker house. SHADY DEALERS AND MANAGEMENT. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! read more

I have only been living in Austin for ten months. There are certain things I miss from back East in NYC. Pizza, gyros, great Chinese food, Super Bowl Pools and yes; Poker. I had a weekly poker tournament every Friday at a local bar that I played for years. So, when I moved to this part of Austin and found Shuffle 512. I became a happy camper. Shuffle 512 offers a variety of card games and tournaments. While I am not a cash game player anymore. They have some nice tournaments. My favorite is a monthly $240 plus + plus. That is $200 for tournament play; $40 house; $10 dealer appreciation; free on time bonus and your membership fee $10 daily or $30 monthly. Payout last ten standing. Shuffle 512 has plenty of room for play. I believe about a dozen or so tables. Each table has now been updated. Very nice. Comfortable chairs. Clean restrooms. This is a must for me. Service is awesome across the board. The front desk staff is nice and friendly. Easy check-in. Dealers are also all nice and friendly. While some are better in skill than others; they do a good job moving the game along. No issues with dealers or tournament directors. Would I go back; ABSOLUTELY. Would I recommend; ABSOLUTELY. This is an awesome place for my poker needs. Plenty of parking. Can bring in outside beer. Yeah. Free pizza on Thursdays and Saturdays. Plenty of AC. Just a great all around poker room. Oh yes. Met the owner's dad my last two tournaments. Sat next to him both times. Nice fellow and very proud of his kid. read more

This place is full of regulars that are all friends....every single person i saw win a pot $500+ cashed out within 5 min. One of the regs got in my face after some words, i put my arms up and yelled for security who did nothing, after he was inches from my face i pushed him away and then security came running to grab me and throw me out. Security is obviously friends with all the regulars there so don't expect any kind of unbiased enforcement. Place is a joke and should be avoided by any one who's new. read more

I found Shuffle 512 a few weeks ago and it's one of my favorite poker rooms to play in Austin. When you walk in, it has this bright, open feel to it and you are immediately welcomed by the front staff in the main lobby. *Tip: Look to the right as you walk in and be in awe by this gorgeous hand-made mosaic. I'm still trying to figure out how to reproduce this for my home. No lie. They explain the membership, the games offered (both cash and tournaments). They run 5 nights a week and have tournaments each night, with a couple being GTD $1,500 or $2,000 freerolls, but they tend to get higher prize pools since they offer optional rebuys or add-ons. The front of the house staff must be cyborgs. They remember everyone's name when you return. I always love when people greet you by your name and they are so wonderful at doing that. They have complimentary coffee and water, plus a couple of vending machines if you want a snack or beverage. You can bring your own beverages in as well and store them in the poker room's refrigerator. One thing unique that the dealers do at Shuffle is greet the table when they rotate in, say their name and wish everyone luck. Love that! The staff will also come around periodically and offer to bring you complimentary water or coffee. You do not even need to get up from your seat - total win. The staff, owner and poker room managers are very welcoming. They make you feel like family and it makes you want to keep going back. This is one of the most beautiful poker rooms with the color palette of the tables, chairs, carpet and lighting. I really like the members that play there too. Very respectful players and never seen anyone get out of line - that shows that it's a well run poker room. If you are looking for a spot to play in south Austin, come check them out. There's tons of parking, a great pizza/salad/calzone spot next door called Aviator that makes food pretty quickly. Just be warned - if you walk into Shuffle with a pizza, eyes are going to be on you. Their pizza always smells so good and is delicious. The poker room manager and owner said this is their 8th week open and it runs well for being so new. I'm giving them a 5-star review, because I know it's super hard to actually do this business and try to do it within the weird laws TX has about poker. For all the "freedom" Texans claim to have, they can't play poker openly but Los Angeles has a ton of poker rooms. So the trick here is to get an annual pass. You have to be a "member" of the "club" for this to be legal in TX, and they don't take a rake so instead they charge you by the hour. Unlike their competition, Shuffle allows you to pause your timer if you leave the table for a break, and they give you free hours with the bigger memberships. However, to offset that, they are $12/hr while that same competition is $10/hr. The staff and dealers are friendly and polite. The pretty young girl who works the front (Chelsea??) is super friendly and really nice. The others are more friendly but level. She's super personable. So they should give her more money for being an immediate mood booster when you walk in. No, I am not friends with her or know her. Hahaha. It's a legit review. The play here in Texas is pretty much the same at all Texas Card rooms. It's a little loose but not crazy, and a little weak. You'll see a lot of call downs with second pair and weak c-bets which almost immediately give up on the turn when a brick comes out. If you're a disciplined tight-aggressive poker player, you should do well in Texas poker rooms. Just don't tilt when you can't bluff three people off their hands. Lol. Just play solid poker and you'll be fine. read more

Did you know you can play live poker for real money in Texas?!? I discovered this place last night and I'm happy to report that it's awesome and you don't have to travel out of state to play poker. This is a revelation to me. Here's how it works: 1- This place is technically a club so when you play, you pay membership dues ($10 daily, $20 monthly, $250 annually) and for time at the table ($10 per hour). 2 - The dealers do not take a tip at the table, but you can (and should) tip the group gratuity jar at the end of the night. 3 - It's BYOB. Take your beverage of choice and enjoy! They also have free water and coffee. You can bring in food and I'm told Aviator Pizza next door is excellent. 4 - The players are very friendly and know their way around the table. I need to brush up on my game! 5 - They have cash games and tournaments - right now all Texas Hold'em If you love poker, check it out!! I was a little hesitant to go by myself not know if I was walking into some seedy, smoke-filled establishment with dim lighting and odd characters. Played here for the first time tonight. Great tables and room with large TVs to watch the game on. The staff is professional and the manager/owner greets you as soon as you walk in and explains how everything works. Free coffee and water. I played cash but they seem to have tournaments regularly going on. The chairs are super comfortable--I hate casinos/rooms that don't spend money on good seating, and this was one of the best I've been to. Overall it's just a very well-run room and the environment is fun and friendly. I was visiting Austin so I can't be a reg here, but I'm definitely coming back to play next time I'm in town. read more

I popped into this South Austin poker room on a tip from a fellow player who checked it out a week prior. I was impressed with how nice the layout was, the friendly staff, (even gave me free bottled water) and had the WSOP on. The games were decent, I won some cash in a cash game. There was a tournament going on that I didn't get into, but I want to go back when I have more time. Also I loved there is a nice pizzeria next store for a bite. Definitely worth checking out if you're in South Austin and looking for a good poker game! read more

A great place to play poker. Staff was very friendly and so were the players. A real laid-back, relaxed enviroment to play some cards. They have daily tournaments, if that's your thing. The cash games are really fun too, and just a great place to go hang out and socialize. For someone just looking to check out a poker club in Austin, this is my recommendation for sure. read more

This was my first time visiting this location. It happened to be on their Friday freeroll. Too be expected your going to face players to go all in on several hands to help set them up for the possibility. Overall, the dealers did a great job until all rebuys were cut off. A guy named Jamie came to our table and dealt his first hand and was pretty sloppy. I of course called him for his sloppy dealing and he replied by saying that I'm a sloppy player only because I called him out. He continued his jabs, which is to be expected by someone who just got called out. I followed up by saying that I hate fucking losing money to sloppy dealers because I have lost before because of that. He then called the house and tried to say that I was being disruptive because of my foul language. Keep in mind I was in the middle of my own hand. I even asked him to wait until our hand was over but he continued to run his mouth. When Matt came over I asked him to wait. At this point I was completely off my game. I lost the hand but that was my fault. I finished the game and then decided to meet with the manager named Matt. His excuse was that Jamie is normally pretty accurate with his dealing and is know to be sassy but that he would talk to him. What kind of bs is that. A dealer should always be on his game and if he screws up, own it and move on. This place is a joke. read more

This poker room was very disappointing I've played at multiple clubs and have been playing piker for 9 years. I was excited to join a club near my new home. The staff was extremely dulling and uninterested in helping the players at all. Upon arriving and getting a seat at the only game running was low stakes 1-2 I asked if there was a table available to put a drink on. The staff scoffed and barely looked up from her phone saying "I doubt it" then went right back to looking at her phone. No one was available to get chips for you while sitting at the table I had to use my tip chips to give a player big blind money. Also sitting at a table a dealer failed to muck a mans hand when there was action behind him. He frantically looked for him and after finding him the player sat down and went all in and was awarded the pot. I love that Austin is trying to bring poker to life however if your going to start a club then do it right and take care of your customers. The customers are the ones keeping the lights on... Very disappointed in this club seeing I'll have to find somewhere else to play where they appreciate business. read more
