I was admitted with a kidney stone that left me literally kneeling by the hospital bed in agony when he first came in to see me. From the moment he walked in, his kind and calm demeanor made a huge difference. He didn't just rush through -- he took the time to explain what was happening, what my options were, and how we could relieve the pain and get me on the path to healing. He treated me like a person, not just a patient in crisis. His expertise was clear, but what stood out most was his compassion. He reassured me in a moment when I felt completely overwhelmed, and he guided me through the procedure with such steady confidence that I felt safe placing my trust in him. Thanks to his care, I am able to move from a place of unbearable pain to healing and stability. I'm deeply grateful to Dr. Barme and would highly recommend him to anyone facing urological issues -- not only for his medical skill, but for the humanity he brings into the room.

Late last year, I learned I needed prostate surgery…read more One of my other physicians recommended Golden Gate Urology to perform the surgery. I selected Dr. Daniel Oberlin, of the practice. I can not recommend Dr. Oberlin highly enough. He is very considerate, kind, and very sensitive to the specific needs of his patients. Dr. Oberlin took as much time as necessary to thoroughly discuss available surgery options and provide valuable insight regarding the appropriate procedure for each of his patients. Dr. Oberlin recognized my anxiety and did everything possible to minimize it, both before and after the surgery. Because the need for surgery occurred late in 2023, I was unable to get an appointment for the procedure until this year. Crystal, one of the staff who is truly an angel sent to Earth, saw to it that my catheter was changed frequently for cleanliness and to minimize the risk of infection. Everyone in the practice, from Dr. Oberlin, his assistant Danielle Shanahan, Crystal, the wonderful front office, and the scheduling team actually made me look forward to appointments. This includes post-surgery follow-up appointments. Huge mega kudos to the entire staff of Golden Gate Urology, Inc. Should you require the services of a urological practice, I can not conceive of a finer team who work as well together as Golden Gate Urology Inc.

However the patient himself only states that he gets up once or twice at night. In addition, the patient is not terribly bothered by his nocturia. (I showed my hand count 6 times on 10/8/2025 to Dr Barme, I stayed up to 3am, and count the rest with baby monitor alarm.) What's is the definition of bothersome? If it doesn't bother my dad, he doesn't need to get up. This is totally ridiculous to me. If my 92 years dad need my help to got to bathroom every single time at night, he should use diapers instead. He's still good mobility that's why he should seek for help. Finally, I paid for the subscription with video recordings and daily counts. I changed to SutterHealth Urology at Fremont (an hour drive). I showed the recording to new office and explained the situation. I only see PA. They trusted me. I felt so good in fact, that I had to be careful because I did not feel like I had surgery. I'm 73. Did I have doubts? Absolutely. Who in their right mind doesn't? But, I knew I had to make a decision. And, with the help of my daughter, Dr. Ross's nurse, Ki, and Dr. Ross, I did. Before my surgery, I had a prostate exam and cystoscopy. Neither experience is exactly what I call fun. I also had a catheter tube inserted in my penis for a month. I'll let you figure out how much fun that was. As you may be aware, when your prostate really starts to act up, the bigger danger is it can cause great injury to your kidneys. Which can lead you down a road of no return. That helped me put all the discomfort and pain into perspective. Your experience will be different from mine, of course. But I have to say that Dr. Ross is an excellent surgeon! and I hope this message makes it easier for you to take action on your behalf and feel confident about the decision you make.

I finally stopped going to the office due to the ineptness of the staff, but was coaxed back in by the doctor. Unfortunately, the same issue has occurred on my first visit back- not yet a full hour, but I was the first person in the office and they still took the person who arrived after me first. I'll address the issue with the group and appropriate licensing boards, but you should be aware of their lack of professionalism, timeliness and standards. I've done all my due diligence in relation to arriving early, checking in and following directions- and I have no issues with interpersonal relationships or behavior- so this is egregious.

Apologized for the no heat, quickly got through the appointment with my apologies for getting upset. And I guess it's unusual for her to explain lab results in my chart or for any follow up survey from me like my Stanford appointments always do. They could have warned me the building heat was broken and had been for some time. Edited after thinking about this: it seems intentional to have no heat in her office. Why?

If you are looking for a warm and caring doctor-urology practice with impeccable bedside manner,…read morethis place is probably not for you. If you want an accurate "no-nonsense" diagnosis and care, this may be the place to go. I have been to the Oakland and Danville locations which are clean, pleasant and easy to find. Both have ample parking: parking garage structure for Oakland and large lot for Danville. My family member had an emergency and needed to be seen quickly. I appreciate they took the time to squeeze us in the very next day. However, the office staff is curt, impatient and one of the receptionist (at the Oakland office) had a bit of an attitude. I don't know if they were having a bad day but it was unpleasant to be around. I was also placed on hold for a good 15 minutes one time. As for Dr. Welty, he is fairly nice, doesn't sugarcoat things and straight to the point. You can tell he is very busy as he doesn't take the time to chat or get to know the patient. That's completely fine as we are there to get answers quickly. You can tell they are fully booked as the waiting room is always crowded. We probably will return in the future to see this doctor if needed.

We need to redo it - not a problem, we went to redo it. 2) We went in and provided a second sample. Over a month and no communication about the results. We followed up and then told that the lab did not receive the sample - no explanation given. We pushed for explanation and finally they told us they accidentally toss out the sample because the sample had no label. 3) At our visit, we informed the front desk staff multiple times that the sample has no label and he stated he will let someone know to go in and pick up the urine sample immediately. 4) I've never been to an office where they don't have a system to label their samples. In addition, at the visit we informed them multiple times about it because we were worried that it will get mixed up with another patient. 5) The office visit was rushed, the Dr. was in and out quick, less than 10 minutes and didn't give us time to ask any questions. 6) I contacted the office regarding this and they place the blame on us/the patient and lied about leaving a voicemail when they didn't. 7) Unethical, lies and disorganized - disastrous medical office. Sharing so that other patients are aware of what they are getting into when they visit this office. If you have other options, I would suggest you go elsewhere.

I was very happy with my experience at his office. The staff was friendly and efficient and parking is available in the same building, which is a plus because I hate driving around looking for street parking. The office also validates parking so you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. I was parked from 2:20pm to 4pm for about $4. Minus one star because of the wait. I'm a new patient and my appointment was at 2:45pm. I arrived 20 minutes early to fill out necessary paperwork, but wasn't seen until sometime after 3:30pm. The staff and the doctor were very apologetic and explained that they had some emergency cases that backed them up. Sh** happens, I guess. There's really nothing I could do about that in such a situation. I'm just against waiting more than 30 minutes for any appointment I've arrived on time for. I'd say he was worth the wait, though.
