Sheridan management made me feel very welcome from the beginning. Dawn and Kerry in the management office immediately made me feel like family, and made the application process smooth and simple. The maintenance staff are incredibly responsive and considerate of your needs and your time. Sheridan lease prices are very competitive, and the property offers nicely sized apartments with a contemporary feel--all within well-kept grounds with nice amenities. Heat being included makes Sheridan a "no-brainer" in the winter months. The amount I have saved by not having to pay for heat has been extremely helpful in my savings for a house. More important than any of the above though is that the other residents are all polite and friendly people. I have never had a negative interaction with a neighbor. We all happily exchange smiles and "hellos," while also respecting each other's privacy. There are a lot of young professionals living here, so I have never had to deal with excessive noise or other nonsense. It has truly been a pleasure living here at Sheridan Apartments. However, you do get 9 foot ceilings, lots of room, in-house washers/dryers, central air, and the buildings are all energy efficient (our monthly electric bill hasn't passed $80 and we blast the AC almost all day everyday).

The kitchen faces out to the living area and has granite counter tops, new appliances and track lighting. Washer and dryer are tucked away nicely behind a sliding door. A bonus feature is the large storage closet directly across the hall from the apartment. It totally beats having to go to a storage cage in some creepy basement like most places. It's the kind of place where a successful professional would want to live. Madison purposefully lacks the outdoor amenities like a pool and tennis courts in favor of charging less for rent. I am always able to park close to my building with plenty of spots for company. In addition to the great design and reasonable rent, the office team, Jen and Mark, are incredibly good-natured, responsive and customer service oriented. I always leave the office with my questions answered and a smile on my face. Anytime I receive packages during the work day, I find them right outside the door of my second floor apartment. I could easily pick them up at the office, but having the staff bring them right to my place is a welcome luxury. Lastly, the couple times where I needed minor repairs, the maintenance guy, Eddie, completed the work the same day. Parking lots are well cleared during the snow. When I asked for a picture of the damage, it turned out to be nothing more than a tiny scratch--about the size of a quarter--and hardly noticeable. Yet they claimed they had to replace their 2 years old refrigerator with a brand-new one. Seriously? Over a quarter-sized scratch? Come on. Is that really the thanks I get from them? If you want to move in, make sure NOT to scratch their chrome appliances.

This place is INFESTED with bed bugs. So after moving almost all of my things in, I report the issue and ask for a resolution. They sent a rep from their preferred pest control company who clearly wants to keep costs low for his business partner, he was rude and incompetent. He kept insisting on inspecting items that had been here for a day or two, and ignored me when I tried pointing out where I had seen live bugs crawling around. I noticed feces in a small Crack in a bedroom closet, and asked of they could at least use silicone or caulk to prevent any further bugs from spreading in here while I wait for them to actually treat the space this Friday and they refused. As far as I know, they are also not treating any other units, which is obviously the source of the infestation. I have never dealt with anything like this, it's been one of the worst weeks of my life, and I literally have never even gotten an apology. I'm sick to my stomach with this place. Find somewhere else to live, don't make the same mistake I did.

Our experience moving out was nothing short of frustrating, unprofessional, and, frankly, illegal under Massachusetts tenant law. When we vacated the apartment, we were told on September 24, 2025, that we would receive a refund of $633.98 from our $3,320 security deposit. I even provided receipts for professional carpet cleaning and general cleaning of the apartment, as requested. Then, weeks later, I received a letter dated October 6, 2025, stating that our refund had been reduced to $383.98 -- with no explanation or itemized list of deductions. According to Massachusetts General Law c. 186, §15B, landlords are legally required to provide a detailed, itemized list of damages and receipts for any deductions within 30 days of the lease ending. Failure to do so means they forfeit the right to withhold any portion of the deposit. To make matters worse, the deductions they appear to be taking are not even allowed under state law. In Massachusetts, a landlord cannot legally charge for "routine cleaning" or carpet cleaning unless there is actual damage beyond normal wear and tear. Even if your lease states you must have the carpets professionally cleaned or the unit cleaned before moving out, that clause is unenforceable -- state law overrides lease language. Our security deposit was $3,320, and after $2,480.80 was deducted for September rent and trash (which we agreed upon), that left $839.20 due back to us. Instead, we were told two different refund amounts -- $633.98 and then $383.98 -- with no receipts or explanation for why the amount was reduced. When I reached out for clarification, I received no transparent response or breakdown of charges. At this point, not only is the handling of the security deposit a clear violation of Massachusetts law, but it also reflects extremely poor management practices. Tenants deserve to be treated fairly and with transparency -- not left guessing where hundreds of dollars of their own money went. If you're considering renting here, be cautious and document everything. Take photos before and after moving out, save every email, and know your rights under Massachusetts law. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone who expects honesty or professionalism in how their security deposit is handled.

The neighbors quickly became friends as did the staff. I was always happy to show off my apartment to friends, many of whom said, "this building is a jewel!" I never asked for anything that was not accommodated quickly. the staff always exceeded my expectations. Even locking myself out of the car in a snow storm at the grocery was not a problem. I called Joe, the manager who quickly sent a staff member to help me. I retrieved my extra set of keys and was back on the road. That is better service that AAA. I hated that my job moved to a different part of New England and I had to leave the Highland House. I would happily move back there next week if it were possible, I highly recommend The Highland House in Worcester to anyone looking for new Home and commend Joseph, Jerry and the entire staff who were an important part of my life for four too short years..
