Commons at Haynes Farm

Haynes Farm is awesome. We have lived here for just over 3 years and it's consistently great. So…read moremuch for families especially - well-behaved kids playing outside on the weekends - next to Bar-B-Que area with adults... oh, and did I say playground on the other side of the property for kids? Swimming pool? Basketball Court? Gym for adults? AND - the nicest management STAFF you can possibly imagine. Mail/package reception and super fast repair/maintenance. Never had a problem here - highly recommend :-) [Not sure why someone said the buildings were loud. It's not loud at all. I've lived in some apartment buildings where you could literally hear the upstairs cat's toenails clicking on hardwood floor or lapping water from a bowl. Nothing like that here - or loud, crazy neighbors. Everyone here is very nice.]

The apartment itself is nice and comfortable and full of light and my neighbors are nice and I love…read morethat there is such diversity and it makes me happy to see all the kids outside playing and all the people walking their dogs, but there are multiple things that do not work for me. This apartment complex is for you if you are fine with: - poisons being sprayed all over the common green space areas where children play and people and dogs walk; - "landscapers" mercilessly mutilating what could be beautiful trees and flowering shrubs into small lumps; - the super loud sound of leaf blowers; - alarms going off for months without maintenance doing anything about it and them acting like you are the problem for asking them to fix the alarm and make the horrendous noise stop; - maintenance not communicating about the work they did, nor seeking clarification with you about the work that needs to be done, nor when they will be in your apartment doing the work, and then maintenance accusing you of being disrespectful for requesting clear communication; - automatic toxic room "fresheners" in the fitness rooms (I had so been looking forward to using them but did not want to breathe the toxins); - crazy loud HVAC units constantly blasting noise making you feel like you are in a non-stop giant engine room in your own home; - ridiculously bright light pollution that is hard to block out at night and visually assaults you when you look out your windows or open your door; there is no reason for such a multitude of super bright, white lights and it is a waste of electricity. When I moved in, there were several things broken in my apartment and things that still needed to be cleaned. Over the first month, maintenance was responsive and did the repairs and cleaning (like the ceiling fan that I could not reach to clean was caked in thick dirt and dust and grease, and the bathroom fan did not work because the painters sprayed the bumpy ceiling paint spray all over it), but they left all the dirt and debris for me to clean up. I never had that experience before where maintenance workers expected me to clean up their mess. It would be useful for them to have a checklist to go through before a tenant moves in to make sure that everything is working and clean. Other than that, the location is good. Visually the aesthetics of the buildings are okay. There is plenty of parking. I like that there are many trees around and I can go for long walks in the neighborhood. I like that they plant flowers at different locations there. The price is expensive but bearable.

Sheridan Apartments - Dishwasher when it wasn't in use

Sheridan Apartments

I looked at a number of luxury apartment complexes in the Shrewsbury area before choosing Sheridan,…read morebut no other place felt "right." Sheridan management made me feel very welcome from the beginning. Dawn and Kerry in the management office immediately made me feel like family, and made the application process smooth and simple. The maintenance staff are incredibly responsive and considerate of your needs and your time. Sheridan lease prices are very competitive, and the property offers nicely sized apartments with a contemporary feel--all within well-kept grounds with nice amenities. Heat being included makes Sheridan a "no-brainer" in the winter months. The amount I have saved by not having to pay for heat has been extremely helpful in my savings for a house. More important than any of the above though is that the other residents are all polite and friendly people. I have never had a negative interaction with a neighbor. We all happily exchange smiles and "hellos," while also respecting each other's privacy. There are a lot of young professionals living here, so I have never had to deal with excessive noise or other nonsense. It has truly been a pleasure living here at Sheridan Apartments. I cannot say enough good things about this experience.

Plus our toilet backed up and took them 5 tries to fix it. Took the toilet leaking out. For them to take us serious. Than the dishwasher doesn't work. They said they fix but didn't. Madison Place - Here's a view of our apartment main space area

It is an apartment complex that does not have amenities such as a gym, pool, grills, etc. It is aimed at the working professional. The managers treat everyone like family which makes this place unique. They are courteous, professional, yet fun and VERY prompt with requests and suggestions. Note: because of the buildings being very new and privately owned, they are more expensive. However, you do get 9 foot ceilings, lots of room, in-house washers/dryers, central air, and the buildings are all energy efficient (our monthly electric bill hasn't passed $80 and we blast the AC almost all day everyday).

The alternative apartments were either: a) reasonable rent, generic with white walls, white carpeting, walled off Kitchenettes with old appliances b) high rent, well equipped with modern designs, fitness rooms (extra fees), tennis courts and outdoor pools Madison Place features apartments with a modern, open design. The kitchen faces out to the living area and has granite counter tops, new appliances and track lighting. Washer and dryer are tucked away nicely behind a sliding door. A bonus feature is the large storage closet directly across the hall from the apartment. It totally beats having to go to a storage cage in some creepy basement like most places. It's the kind of place where a successful professional would want to live. Madison purposefully lacks the outdoor amenities like a pool and tennis courts in favor of charging less for rent. I am always able to park close to my building with plenty of spots for company. In addition to the great design and reasonable rent, the office team, Jen and Mark, are incredibly good-natured, responsive and customer service oriented. I always leave the office with my questions answered and a smile on my face. Anytime I receive packages during the work day, I find them right outside the door of my second floor apartment. I could easily pick them up at the office, but having the staff bring them right to my place is a welcome luxury. Lastly, the couple times where I needed minor repairs, the maintenance guy, Eddie, completed the work the same day. Parking lots are well cleared during the snow. Essentially, if you want an upscale apartment for a generic apartment rent, with customer service oriented office / maintenance staff, I highly recommend MP in Shrewsbury.

Imperial Village Apartments - Clogged drain after maintenance said they fixed it

I am an easy to please person. I do not make issues. I've lived here for 3 years with my roommate…read moreand we tend to be fairly tidy. I could tolerate loud neighbors that would be up until 4AM, I could tolerate the shotty construction of the place, I could even tolerate the complete lack of lighting in 90% of the place. What I can't tolerate is the Roaches we've been getting CONSISTENTLY for the last 8 months. The worst day being 8 seen in a matter of a few hours, both in my complex and the shared laundry room and hallway. The front desk will be nice when talking about it but only send someone to spray your individual apartment, not the neighboring complexes, so it just pushes the issue down the line. They agreed to get the whole place sprayed eventually after MONTHS of asking them to do something and even then it was not enough. They've refused to break our lease because of the roaches. They've refused any sort of compensation. All this for a rent price that could get me somewhere of a similar size, if not bigger in somewhere like Chelsea or Framingham. They may have a polite front desk but do not let that fool you. It is not worth the price. I've read other reviews and it seems they also have issues with bed bugs and similarly didn't do anything about it. I will be looking into my legal options at this point, as I've had to deal with months of distress, spent so much on roach bait, and had to purchase so many containers to protect my belongings.

Everything went well until it was time for me to move out, because they increased the rent by $200 more per month (whatever happened to being grandfathered in?). So, I found another apartment. I made sure we left their apartment spotless. I even hired a cleaner, and they did a great job. After I moved out, the office demanded that I pay $1,000 for supposed damage to their "chrome" refrigerator. I have absolutely no recollection of ever damaging it. When I asked for a picture of the damage, it turned out to be nothing more than a tiny scratch--about the size of a quarter--and hardly noticeable. Yet they claimed they had to replace their 2 years old refrigerator with a brand-new one. Seriously? Over a quarter-sized scratch? Come on. Is that really the thanks I get from them? If you want to move in, make sure NOT to scratch their chrome appliances.
