The room exactly as advertised, long and narrow with bed, couch, mini kitchen with sink and fridge, fairly spacious bathroom and shower, hutch for suitcase/hanging clothes, mirror by the door. Only minor annoyance: I saw in some other reviews people mentioning loud noises at night which I think I figured out was from the climate control, because after the first night of struggling to sleep through the banging noise, I turned off the the air at night and heard no further noises. The common areas were great and the shared kitchen was useful. They hot tub was big enough for several groups of strangers to have space and the towels were easily available. There was an ice scraper available to use after the storm. Receptionist was taking what sounded like a personal call on speakerphone while checking me in, not super professional, otherwise staff were helpful especially after we forgot something in the lobby after checkout. Behind the hotel was the most LOVELY walking path along a river, highly recommend strolling along for some beautiful views. It's close to a solid grocery store (City Market), gas station, and shops, easy access to Rte 70 to head into the city or out to the mountains. Parking was filled up late but next door is a little overflow lot and had plenty of space left (no signage but just to the left of the hotel building).

The room was comfortable, with a coffee machine and a fridge, not huge but spacious enough for two. We didn't get to see the dorms (you need a key to access those sections of the building), which is reassuring from a safety perspective. I especially loved the atmosphere with plenty of seating areas, a large bar (live music during our visit), beautiful views, a great location by the Blue River, outdoor spaces, and very friendly staff. There is no restaurant on-site but guests can use the communal kitchen, which we did for breakfast. I really appreciated the sense of community they created. It's definitely not your typical hostel, more of a boutique hotel/hostel. We'll certainly return next time we are in the area!

Even though the host said the place was all booked, I had the room to myself. The beds were okay, but the comforters were really thin. The place is a little outdated, but still cozy. The bottom floor has a spacious living room with tv and there are two kitchens with plenty of space to cook. The shared bathrooms were decent. I never had to wait to use the bathroom. The check-in process consisted of having to call/text a number on the white board when you walk in and that person will tell you how to get your key to your room. There is a parking lot, but parking spots are limited especially if it snows and they don't plow the spaces. The person I texted didn't have another parking option when the spaces were filled. The Rec center across the street has signs that say no parking after 10pm. You can risk that, if desperate.

Mitch, the host, is delightful, genuinely kind, and a fantastic conversationalist who makes you feel at home the moment you arrive. The lodge itself is a wonderfully quirky historic cabin full of charm and character. Every detail feels thoughtfully designed for weary hikers, from the hot tub, luxury rain showers, bidet, and incredibly cushy carpets to the complimentary toiletries, towels, and laundry service. The bunk beds are comfortable and equipped with privacy curtains, and the beautiful stained glass, local artwork, cozy patio, and three sweet resident dogs make it a place you'll want to linger. Breakfast was complimentary and even included fresh fruit and dairy-free options, and there was an honor-system bar stocked for the evening. My group of four practically had the whole place to ourselves, and we took full advantage of everything it had to offer. At only $60 a night, it felt like an incredible value. There are also private rooms available for those looking for a little more privacy. This was one of the most hiker-friendly hostels I've ever stayed in. I'd happily return in a heartbeat.

If you're there to ski or snowboard, the bus picks you up right outside, so you don't need to worry about parking in Breckenridge. The Bunkhouse is funky and eclectic, with old-world warmth and charm. You'll also want to love fur babies because if you're lucky, they'll take a liking to you and you can cuddle up on the sofa with a glass of wine. Mitch is the hostess with the mostest! His laugh is contagious, and his generosity and kindness set the bar for hospitality. This is a true lodge experience, so be open to meeting new people and sharing space. Bring your beer, wine, or whiskey, and relax in the bar while enjoying a drink. It's a great place to reconnect with the space around you and be present in the moment. The worst part about staying at Mitch's place is having to leave.

My friend brought me here, saying, if I'm going to try any hostel, anywhere in the world, it should be here or his other favorite - in Wales. It is a gorgeous autumn in Colorado, so Breckinridge it is. How incredibly fortunate for me that my first hostel was here. I'm constantly reminded that not every hostel is so nice. What a lovely place. Well appointed, so clean - which is all important in this pandemic time. Everyone is friendly. We stayed in a 6-bunk room with a total 4 ppl in it. The less agile (that'd be me) was lucky to get a lower bunk (not sure how that works, we lucked out that not all the berths were full!) The other two ppl were solo travelers, one from South America, the other from Russia. They were friendly and polite. We all did our own thing; I crashed out early, so I wasn't bothered at all that another guest had to pack luggage for an early flight out the next day. There are outlets at each bunk, even USB chargers And a lamp which was a necessity when hvg to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I thought the room was comfortable; temps got down into the 30's overnight but I was comfortably cozy in my bed with its duvet; there were extra blankets in the closet if needed. My friend thought it too warm but he runs that way, but he slept thru the night fine too. A word about the bedding: mine was fine, clean, smelled clean. But one of the other bunks had yellowed bedding - with stains. I presume it was washed and cleaned just looked used, and if you got there in daylight or with all the lights on, one would hv seen it, but I didn't till the next morning when we were getting ready to leave and that might've bn off putting. I came down early, just before sunrise The general areas were at a comfortable temp. Wasn't time yet for breakfast, but some kind soul had already started the coffee. I went for a walk, took some pix, came back once guests had started to straggle in. What a friendly, informative bunch! My friend tells me that's most hostel-goers. And the food was pretty good, pancakes, eggs, cereal; I got the oatmeal and an English muffin. The coffee smelled really good. And I was so happy they had powdered hot chocolate too! Special mention must be made of Belage (sorry, may hv misspelled) but he is a welcoming, knowledgeable host and made us feel at home. If you come here, please contribute positively. I worry that the wrong sort would detract from such a lovely accommodation and experience. And yeah, I'll hv to keep in mind that almost certainly other hostels aren't like this, but it is now my gold standard.

I found fireside online and it was by far the most affordable option in Breckenridge for a single night so I went for it in a two person dorm, and luckily I happened to be the only one in that room that night! The room was definitely snug but it was cozy and very comfortable and I slept very well. Finding the place was also very easy, they provide very clear instructions and there is plenty of parking at the church across the street (just mind their specific parking instructions and you won't have any trouble). Re: the interior: it's actually a very large place with two full baths and one half bath. I never even saw/heard another guest when I came but again it was late. The vibe was that it was a very comfy, chill place - they have soothing music playing over by the office door where the coffee/tea machines are, and there is a small kitchen and living room area. They had a real fire going in the living room area and there were games and books and lots of "things to do" brochures around, so truly it felt like being in a cozy cabin. I genuinely really loved that vibe. Not to mention it's quite close to the main road - you could easily walk but because it was raining heavily the night I came, I did drive all of 3 minutes to avoid walking 15 in the rain to the bar on Main Street I wanted to go to. They also sent me a text when i came in case i had questions, so they are available to help you. Overall - if you're coming and staying here for just a night or two and all you need is a bed/shower/safe space, this place is GREAT. Sturdy, grated outside steps lead to this suite, for safe access and for privacy. The location is unbeatable, just a 3-block walk to town and to all of the shops and restaurants. The "Free Ride" city bus stops in front of the Fireside Inn, and can take you to the Gondola and Breck Station, if you don't feel like making the 7-minute walk. [Tip: Epic Mountain Express shuttle vans from the airport can drop you directly at the Fireside Inn!] Our host Madi communicated beautifully before and during our visit. She and her family have put a lot of love and thought into making this a warm refuge from the cold and excitement that is Breckenridge.

The common areas are great: ski gear lockers (2 per pod), ski/board storage, kitchen with plenty of fridge and freezer space, and a decent sized lounge room. Those amenities definitely bumped their review up a star. You do have to pay $10 for parking per day (uncovered). Good place to stay if you're not planning to hangout in the hotel much or need a kitchen with a large gathering space.

I…read moreloved the common area with plenty of comfortable places to sit, and the kitchen was very well stocked. I didn't really partake in the social atmosphere as I was very tired, and the people there seemed older. It is certainly not a young person party hostel. However, my friend I came with previously came a year ago and made good friends. The main issue that my friend and I felt made our stay uncomfortable was the restrooms. They don't have stall doors for the toilets. They just have a flimsy curtain that you can't secure in place, which was super awkward and made me feel on edge every time I was in there. Their showers also don't have doors, but that is more acceptable. We stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm, and it was comfortable. I really liked how they have full-size vertical lockers with keys that you can use for storage. When we checked in, they said one of us had to be on the bottom bunk and one on the top. It worked out for us, but if there are other beds available it doesn't seem fair if both people have a preference for a bottom bunk just because you are friends. People in hostels are usually solo travelers anyways and need to share a bunk bed combo with a stranger.

It has a big kitchen, big living room, big lawn, and big den downstairs with TV/couches and a ping pong table. It's clean-ish, pretty much your standard hostel. The showers were a pleasant surprise - quite clean actually on the ladies' side so that was a huge relief! The beds were simple bunks in the room I was in, and I was top bunk. Low ceiling so I couldn't sit all the way up but I could most way; i was also right by a water pipe so I could hear water running every time someone showered etc, but I stilled crashed from exhaustion/Im a heavy-ish sleeper. The room was a bit warm; with the window open it was way too cold so it was a wee bit stuffy but again nothing too bad. I slept fine overall, it was pretty decent as far as a hostel experience goes. Overall - if you're coming in late and leaving early for like 1 night (which I was), this hostel will serve your needs fine! But it is restrictive in how much you can move around/put your stuff in shared rooms so bear that in mind. Parking also interesting -- you can park along the south-west fences surrounding the place but when I came at 9p on a sat, there were no spots. I briefly parking across the street on Alder (to the west), but the folks who own the home came out and informed me i couldn't stay but COULD park by the stop sign across the street on 7th (to the south). The hostel said it was fine too, and I parked there overnight and nothing bad happened (ie towing). Overall: this place is fine for a short stay as far as I'm concerned! But you get what you pay for.
