I scheduled a shred event with this company in February, for June 14th. In March I received a Docusign document to solidify the event and promise to pay. The document was unclear and it made it sound like I was going to pay 2X as much as the original quote. So, I sent an email to my rep asking for clarification and I received another Docusign to sign. I again sent an email asking for clarification, and I followed it up with a call. I called again and left another message. Then I received an email stating that my event had been canceled because I did not sign the document. I called to see if I could reschedule, and I was told I would have to deal with Cory MacKenzie. I told them of the previous experience with Cory MacKenzie, I did not want to deal with him. This person tried to help me, but was unable to schedule it because he said the date was all scheduled. So, I told them I could not do that. Then about 2 weeks later another nice speaking sales person, asking why I canceled my event. I told them and they fiegned shock!! "Oh my we wouldn't want that to happen!!" Then they checked the date and said because it is on fathers day, (Not true, Fathers Day is on June 15th) they could not schedule the event, that I had scheduled in FEBRUARY!!!!! Since that time I have made 4 attempts to lodge a complaint against Cory over this issue and they will not get me to anyone who could address the complaint. I have spent countless hours on the phone trying to schedule a service (Since May 20th!) because the site says there are no services available. Not only can they never get ahold of the Denver office, there is not direct number to call for the Denver office, just the 877 number. When I was finally at my wits end and requested to cancel the contract they told be there would be a $550 early termination fee. $550!! Spring Cleaning 2012! This place is great, you can bring a box that's copy paper sized box and they'll shred it for you for $5 per box, tax included! If you have a file box, which is double the size of the regular copy paper box, guess what? It's $10 to shred. They shred 3.5" floppy (old schoolwork and pictures), CDs, old pictures, coiled binders...etc. The only thing they ask you to not keep in your box you bring is the 3 ring binders, since the shredders have a hard time shredding the 3-ring bone part of the binders. Other than that, shred your past away! They'll mail you your receipt once your items have gone through their shredder, usually the same day your stuff will get shredded and you'll receive your receipt in about 3-5 business days. About 8 shopping bags and I only paid 22.50, which was excellent considering UPS wanted nearly $150 and Office Max wanted $1.00 a pound and I had nearly 100 pounds, plus they would only take 50#. Was impressed with the company when we signed up for their services in 2011. Over the past year, quality of service, professionalism, and organization has deteriorated. I would not recommend! Examples: -After replying to sales email about electronic media destruction, the sales process was great. The follow up and organization was terrible. One request for additional pick up resulted in over 2 months of missed and changed pick up days. It was a mess and took more time to deal with daily/weekly customer service calls than it would have to recycle/dispose of the electronic media ourselves. -Driver asked a person on our staff for a $100 tip when picking up! This is not just unprofessional, it is outright despicable. -Fine print! Check your contract for the fine print. I started with shredit almost 2 years ago and at that time had no issues with them. I had a problem with a pick up and called in several times and still have not had a pick up. I run a small business and can not sit here in my office all day waiting for a pick up. I have had one customer service person very nice and the rest were not so helpful. The supervisor was horrible. When I signed up it was not a annual contract and I could cancel at any time and if I didn't need a pick up I could call in and cancel and not have to pay it. With this new system they put in place in August 2021 the service is not reliable and the customer service sucks!! I brought two 13gallon bags of paper, credit cards, and entire files. Within minutes an employee helped me shred the bags and it was done right in front of me. Total cost $10. It took me more than a year to accumulate that much sensitive paperwork. Definitely not buying another $100 shredder that breaks down after a year. I recommend walking in between 3:30 - 4:30, which is when most of their trucks are coming back to base. They'll be able to shred your stuff in front of you during those hours. They only show up on time half the time, and when they don't show up I get no phone call or email to let me know they have changed the date of my service. You have to check in at the front desk then get back into your car and drive around back to drop off the paper then drive back around to the front to get your ID back. From a business point, dealing with these people was the worst experience of my life. The sales people and dispatcher that I dealt with certainly give lying to the customer new meaning. I scheduled on site work to be done two weeks prior to my appointed day, only to find out that on my particular day they would arrive at my site from 4 - 6 pm for a 2 hour job, I was told I would have a 2-4 pm hour window. I choose to cancel for the day and work out a better time. Re-schduled for 2 days later, given a window of 2- 4 pm, but told by the sales person, it would probably be 2:30. Ok great, but not so great, I am at the site at 2:30 no Shred It truck, called my sales person, I was told everything was on schedule he should be there soon. I waited 1 hr. & 15 min. called and talked to the dispatcher, he promised me the guy was on his way. By now it's 4:20 he finally shows up 4:25. Only to hear about the problems he's had with his shredder all day and that it wasn't working properly, and may not be able to do the job, but would give it a try, both he and I were told by the dispatcher another truck would be by to help. Of course it was only lip service with no intent of sending another truck, another truck never did show up. So we limped along with what we could do, only the shredder finally broke and the job couldn't be finished, by job was only 2/3's done. The driver I was dealing with said almost all of the Shred-it trucks are in bad shape and that this was a regular occurance. If I would of been told by the dispatcher that they were having truck problems, I could of made a decision to cancel for the day or continue to wait, but instead I was held hostage with the waiting game and no explanation of the problems my driver has having. My driver assured me that dispatch knew of his problems. I can't even tell you how mad and upset I was. I will not use them to shred anything in the future. 2 hr. job ended up being 4 hours.
