I have been going to showdown for years, predominantly on the weekends. To preface my review, I will say i have come to have a close relationship with one of the bartenders who, in my opinion, make showdown one of the best bars to frequent in fort worth. Recently, I have noticed she has not been working the night shifts on the weekend, and it truly strikes me the wrong way. Showdown (and any bar general) in my opinion is a manifestation of the people who operate the bar, and although my review is a testament to my experience, I dont feel the same when I walk in the door and DONT see the bundle of joy that is Heather working on a friday/saturday night. Showdown is a staple of this great city. And I'm not sure what has taken my favorite bartender out of the lineup for the weekends, but I will say it is not the same on the weekends without her. read more

A spot I probably never would have came into or known was here except for one of my Fort Worth friends. So it's Cinco de Mayo and my girl text me and says she's at the showtime or The Showdown. What the heck is this? So this is definitely my idea of a dive bar. Kind of sketchy at the entrance. Folks were kind of looking at me funny because it's a "regular" type of place. And I was the only black person that I saw the whole time I was there. I told the bartender I wasn't sure what I wanted. I was kind of worn out on the cinco de mayo drinks. Sassy bartender says well there's a list on this pole of the beers and everything you order is cheap so don't worry about it. I happen to like sassy bartenders so I smiled n wished my sweetie was there because it felt like our dive bar at home. So I got a decent IPA and reluctantly gave over my card because I was out of cash. Went and found my girls out on the back patio. Cute small and people smoke out there so wouldn't be my usual place to hang out but the inside bar area is kind of small. Probably has maybe 10 seats at the actual bar. I had two ipas. One Community Mosaic IPA and one Green Flash IPA and my tab was $7.50. Thats damn good. My friends were a little tipsy n needed to leave so I came n sat at the bar next to a good looking muscle bound guy. Friendly folks there, sassy bartenders n decent clean bathroom. The curtain in the bathroom for the first stall cracked me up and reminded me so much of this dive bar at home. I wouldn't eat anything here because it looks like microwave ish but I think I may fall in love with this place. Come get some drinks read more

She can't "validate" it, I asked her what that means and she couldn't tell me. Her tone and demeanor made me feel like a criminal for even being there. Most disrespectful bar I have ever been to. We came in with 10 people (all out of town military men here for a funeral of a coworker) and walked into a nearly empty bar with MAYBE 4 other patrons. I'm no mathematician but it seems that adding our party might result in higher sales. We were immediately told that one of the members of our party would not be served. This bar yells at customers to put on mask just to order a beer then it is ok to take them off. No employee or manager had a mask on and were complete bitches. I really didn't have to worry about Covid in this place, cause there was no one in it. Thought that was odd on a Friday night in a cool place like Fort Worth. Then, Kick you out Karen spoke up from behind the bar, and then everything made sense. This chick is the female version of Gary Busey, completely off the handle. The bartender, Ashley, I believe her name was, who screamed at me, my friends, and everyone else we were with for looking young but being of age? She told all of them to leave, I showed up after them and got my drink after them. Once they left she turns around to me and the two i was with still, and starts SCREAMING about how we look young and we need to tell our friends not to give her attitude. I paid and didn't tip, she started screaming again, so I pushed her napkins off the bar, so she TACKLED ME as I was walking out. Wish there was an option for 0 stars. They don't accept out of state IDs and they will not accept your ID IF YOU ARE 21-24 because we are not legally required to get out pictures updated until we are 25 or even 30 now. Respectfully, don't go here and if you do, don't tip. The worst dive bar I have ever been to, and if that bitch Ashley starts screaming at you and even assaulting you, expect her scum regulars to push you against the wall and not give you your phone, wallet or keys so you can't even leave. One of Camp Bowie's neighborhood bar. It was a younger crowd that night, dingy look with great drink prices! They have this "regular mugs" for $1.50. You get to have your own mug when you drink there. It'll be numbered and if you want you can deign it with great old sharpie. My only comment about the regular mugs are, yes, I know they wash it before hanging it back up the ceiling after you had your fair share of beer for the night but I saw two regulars came in then the bartender grabbed their mugs from the hooks and never rinsed it. What if you didn't come back for a 2-3 weeks? Your mug will accumulate dust, dead cells, and maybe a roach walked on it. Kinda gross. If I would join this program, I would definitely ask the bartender to rinse my mug first before pouring me a great cold, golden beer. read more

Tonight I visited showdown II on Camp Bowie in Fort Worth Texas. I was verbally and mentally harassed by the older female bartender named Ashley. From reading prior reviews left on this establishment it seems like this is not Ashley's first offense harassing a customer. My friend who is Hispanic went to the bar and ordered one cocktail. About an hour later she went to the bar again and asked to order another drink. Ashley proceeded to say that she would not serve my friend Natalie and would not give a reason why she wouldn't. Natalie asked again why she couldn't orders and the bartender said, "I don't need a reason not to serve you". This is a classic example of discrimination happening right in front of you. Ashely the bartender had no problem serving anyone else in our group that was white and drinking much more. She only refused to serve Natalie. If you are looking to have a good time at a bar I do not recommend going here because you are at risk of being verbally harassed. On top of the horrible customer service this establishment is dirty, the bathrooms aren't up to code, and should be inspected to see if they pass the heath code. I seriously doubt anything about this place is clean. Do not go here I will be telling everyone in Fort Worth not to go here and posting on my wide reach social media accounts about my horrible experience and that my followers shouldn't go as well. read more

If you have out of town friends, this isn't the place to go. Brought my boyfriend who is 26 years old, yet he is from Oklahoma. Unbeknownst to us, Showdown doesn't accept out of state IDs. Asked the bartender to scan the ID, but the larger male bartender refused. Asked one of the female bartenders, and she said there was nothing she could do. My friends and I have been going to this bar for years and they kicked us out based on this. A little absurd if you ask me. Not a great example of Fort Worth hospitality. The post-6 p.m. bartenders...from my 4-5 experiences...are simply too unfriendly for me to embrace "regular" status. Its a bar bar type of a divey dive with a mix of regulars, down-and-outers, west side high brows, intellectuals, pool shooters, and chipless AA pros. One pleasant evening I left my auto at the "down" and went down twice walking home. My asphalted elbows and right palm were morning reminders of un-uncanny balance and testaments to BTW (behind the wheel) decision making skills. The name saloon fits few places, even in Cowtown. More stuffed animals than a lodge in Colorado. Bobcats, bucks, and bass adorn the wood paneled walls amongst the entertaining relics and signs of times past. Funky free computer use, it may be a Commodore and the down has a non-working phone booth. The drop ceiling above the bar is really just mugs for regulars at $1.50 each. Mine is #284. Its a more than fair priced buzz; $2.50 bloodys 12-2 on Sundays, "happy minute" specials everyday- $1.35 domestic drafts at 3:00-3:15 and $2.15 import drafts at 5:00-5:15. High balls are cheap too and four vintage colors of wine are $3.65 (all very good months-damn my satire). Free goobers if you know to ask, free darts some days, and they match cash for the kick ass jukebox. Fifteen things on the menu from a buck and a half to four all nuked or warmed in a magic oven right before your eyes. If you don't like corn dogs, I'd pass and get a burger next door or order get a pizza from across the street. It been here since 1972, and there is no place like it.... Showdown is a great laid back atmosphere with lots of friendly people and great prices. Several craft and import beers along with all of the popular domestics on tap and in bottle. The only down side is one bartender " Peter", he is always drunk behing the bar and cheats customers tabs by adding extra drinks and or money to them for him to pocket or drink himself. Lucky for all the regulars such as myself he has been let go. Now you can sit back and take trust in that Karen, Kevin and the rest of the bar staff will take excellent care of you and make sure you have an enjoyable experience everytime you are there! read more

Being in the service industry if I have a bad experience I try not to put a place on blast but I am baffled by how incredibly horrible the customer service was at this place. It was my first time visiting and the bartenders were so unfriendly and acted like we were a burden to have at the bar. At 1:40 she came up to the table and asked us if we would like another drink and told us it was last call...we were the only people in the place. She then proceeded to go behind the bar and yell at the top of her lungs that it was last call and we needed to close our tabs. We had also put $5 in the jukebox so around 1:45 when I played another song she made sure to let me know the jukebox shuts off at 2...at 1:56 while we are all singing and dancing to our last song she pushes pause on the jukebox and turns off the remaining lights that were on. When we were standing by our table finishing our drinks she tells us "y'all are going to have to leave." We were standing outside the bar at 1:58 and both the bartenders come out and peel out of the parking lot. I understand wanting to get off work on time but we weren't lingering after hours and we weren't being out of control...if you don't want to work until 2, then don't work at a bar.
