    MP5 full auto was a blast :)
    Stephen W.

My brother and I took our Dad here for Father's Day because it was supposed to be a higher end range. Despite my proclivity for not venturing this far OTP due to the increasingly frequent encounters with people that proudly display an outdated state flag. The groupon helped assuage me. The interior is attractive, albeit laid out a bit like a maze. If you are bringing female shooters for the first time, this environment, at least aesthetically, is much more relaxing than most gun ranges. The customer service is indifferent, bordering on rude. I don't know if this is true for all employees or just the young, black man with a tapered fade and glasses. The terms of my Groupon were not respected, i.e. he would only allow 2 lanes when I paid for 3 and was perfectly content to not provide the MP5 that came with the purchase. (They leave out the part that you have to purchase their rounds to use their rentals) I asked him if he knew if they had a particular handgun in stock I was interested in seeing, to which he 'replied' "uh-uh". Was this uh-uh to if he knew or uh-uh to carrying it. He clarified after my asking, "no, no body likes them." It was a Springfield XD variant I was asking about...a widely popular gun. Sh*tty customer service Unethical marketing practices The range is actually 10 lanes split into 2 rooms. Rifle, shotgun and pistol on each of the rooms (why? Who knows). Again, going back to the novice shooter. How jarring it would be to shoot your first or second time with a .380 or .22 (small and quiet, relatively) and then the person right next to you is shooting a 12 gauge or 7.62 x 39mm(very loud). There are no tables behind the lanes for you to put gear or reloads if sharing a lane. It is a clean environment with good lighting and electronic target tracks that increase or decrease in increments of 0.5 yards. However, what is widely advertised on all of their social channels and website is the ventilation and climate controlled atmosphere. It was non existent, particularly the ventilation! The AC you could feel slightly if you stood at the back of the room. There was no respite from the choking powder and smoke discharged from the ammunition. Also, one lane in our room was broken. We were there for roughly 1.5 hours; by the end we all had sweated through our short sleeve shirts. An interesting and hypocritical rule about rapid fire is posted on each lane, curious as they rent fully automatic weapons. There is one 'broom' that is shared between rooms and no trash receptacle for empty ammo boxes or discarded targets. Bad environment Blatant false advertising We did have a great time shooting the MP5 and dialing in your targets was nice. Nearly $200 later we returned our rentals and 1 pair of ears (ear muffs). The gentleman that had set us up was still working the counter. He was assisting another customer, who was also renting a 9mm gun, however his price per box was $14.95, not the $16.95 I was charged. It is certainly possible that it was the result of benign factors but interesting none the less. This customer was having issues with his payment method and literally all this young man has to do is provide me with my license back so that I may leave, (you pay before entering the lanes, not after). Instead he continues his sole attention to this customer, unwilling or unable to provide even the most simple multitasking. It was when the conversation between them shifted to the employee's banking habits that I became extremely annoyed. Also worth noting that there is a room sized window with a waiting area behind each of the two shooting rooms. Again, curious, as each time you turn around you meet the gaze of strangers that are watching you. I was planning on browsing their selection to purchase my father a new gun to complete his father's day gift. But after the unpleasant and unwelcoming experience, decided my business would be appreciated in another establishment, as it clearly was not there. I could have tolerated a bad environment if the customer service had been good, even adequate. I could have tolerated the bad customer service if the product offering was as advertised but both together, nope. I would recommend going elsewhere.

1st time here and definitely will be back! This is a above board, safe, and knowledge saturated location to practice and perfect your shooting skills! The owner and staff are friendly and don't mind sharing their knowledge! I'm serious about gun safety and I don't hand out recommendations like candy on Halloween, so it says a lot that I am willing to recommend them as a safe, clean, and great environment.

They seem ok. Just really small and don't seem to have a nice gun collection. The staff doesn't seem as helpful as id like.

Value for money: This place is inexpensive (even free in some circumstances) gun / rifle / shotgun ranges. Be aware: you'll need your GA hunting license to shoot here -- you present it to the range officer on duty at either the rifle/pistol lanes or the shotgun/skeet house. Location: This place is a bit out of the way for most folks coming from Atlanta -- it's a good 1 to 2 hour drive, depending on what part of the city you're coming from. If you were planning on getting just a quick 30 minutes of range time in, I'm not sure this place is cost effective. On the plus side, it's also not close to any neighborhoods, etc. -- so you can feel pretty safe discharging a firearm at the ranges here. Customer service: This place has friendly range officers (just let them know it's your first time there) - they're very willing to show you different parts of the facilities. Protips: Bring your own weapons, ammo, cases, and hearing protection. They have a limited supply of targets at the welcome area, but it's best if you bring your own targets (and tape) too. In summer, there is no shade connecting the ranges - the sun will beat down on you. They have restrooms on site, but no vending machines or nearby restaurants - be sure to pack in necessities like food and water. Summary: Even though it's out of the way, and you'll need to bring (and possibly first GET) your GA hunting license, I highly recommend this park. It's worth the drive -- especially in the fall or spring.

The site of the US Open of Sporting clays and other major events this place is by far one of the finest ranges I have seen. The Meadows allows for shotgun sports challenges for shooters of all skill levels and abilities. It boasts a phenomenal trap range, which posses launching positions for all levels of shooter. They have a five stand course that will challenge even the best shooters, they shooting positions are mostly covered, therefore weather is not always a problem. The monumental pinnacle of the club is the world class sporting clays course. 100 targets, walking to different shooting positions, rabbits, gophers, side, back, flying toward the shooter, crossing, report pairs and true pairs. The course is absolutely amazing! The club is affordable even for those who don't have a membership, although, if you dont, you cannot shoot on certain weekends without a member. They rent guns if you want to try or don't own a shotgun as well as teach clinics on safety and shooting. They sell limited beverages and small snacks, ammo, hearing protection and even merchandise including shirts, hats, vests, etc. The Meadows National Gun Club is an jewel in middle Georgia and is truly a must shoot for shooting sports enthusiasts and event those who simply want to try. The staff is friendly and care very much about the shooters using their facility. I used them in college for a couple of events, and they are cordial, professional and very willing to work with groups. They get a huge high five from me and five stars as a review.

I've shot in various bays on the backside of the property. I've always felt as safe as a person can feel at a gun range, and I appreciate how well kept the grounds are. I think an outside range feels safer than an indoor range in general. Also, having a variety of set ups available for shooting is fantastic. As long as you adhere to the rules, you can set up almost any course of fire you want. I've always had a positive shooting experience at South River but I wouldn't become a member for many reasons. It's really far from my house. Also, I'm not sure how comfortable they are with Black people. I've visited many times since that first time and sometimes it's uncomfortable the way they watch us. And it's an expensive membership for my level of usage. But if all of the above weren't present, I'd be a regular at South River. Yelp #24 2022
