After taking my first course from Mac I was blown away at how much I learned (as in how much I didn't know). Then I thought about how little I knew before I took that course and about how many other gun owners who haven't taken any training could benefit from this type of education. I am so much more comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable with regards to using and carrying my firearm than I was before I took any of Mac's courses. I have taken five courses from Mac. Don't be intimidated by that though. If you only decide to take one, one is better than none. Originally, I only intended to take one course. Then, after taking that course and being floored with how much I learned (again, how much I didn't know), I couldn't not take any more courses. (By the way, not one single time did Mac even hint that I should take any more courses - he is a no pressure kind of guy and is very easy to get along with.) I would have felt like I was missing out on so much more education and opportunity to become a better gun owner had I not taken any more courses. That's how effective I feel his courses are.
I am convinced that there is not another trainer in Georgia that cares more about his students' firearm training, understanding, and progress than Mac. I really like his approach to the use of firearms as a means of defense. He has a very practical, responsible, and smart approach to firearms and defense. He leaves his ego out of firearms and, instead, uses his brain.
Mac's biggest goals were to make sure that I was comfortable every step of the way; make sure he gave the very best, most accurate, most up-to-date, and most effective education; and to make sure that I understood it - if not, he was more than happy to answer any and all of my questions. He is a extremely generous trainer with both his time and his hospitality.
Before taking my first class, I searched quite a bit for which company would be the best at educating and training me with regards to firearm safety, use, and effectiveness. I decided to go with SMFTS and I am so glad I did.
The biggest takeaway I had with my impression of Mac was that he genuinely cares about helping other people become informed, responsible, and effective gun owners. read more
