This is my top pizza joint in Delaware of the three that are even worth considering. Pizza is top notch. The pepperoni they use is the best I have had on or off a pizza. The calzones are outstanding and their subs are as good as they come. Staff is always super friendly to me and my 5 and 7 year old kids. The kid part is an automatic +1 in my book. Fairly small spot but that is half the charm. Ideally for a group of 2 or 4 you can get 6 but it would be crowded. By the way address is right marker on map is pretty far off. read more

I'm a big fan of Shorty's pizza! The price is a little higher than chains but the quality is amazing. Be aware, if you get a lot of toppings on a large, you may end up with a soggy crust...I don't think their oven is hot enough. Stick with medium and you'll be golden, the crust is absolutely amazing so it's a shame to get one that is soggy. The pasta is average...salad ok. Stick to pizza. The bar is small and full of regulars most of the time, not my cup of tea really. read more

My wife and I were going to have a date night and go there tonight, but, as always, got lazy and just got takeout. We have lived in Delaware for about a year or so, moving from Powell. We frequented the Powell's Shortys, often just sitting at the bar and getting a pie. I want to try all the pizzas in Delaware. Love Cheshire Market; got Delco last week - just ok (but staffing might be an issue). Lazy delivery option is always Jets (always good). Love Mohios and Amatos. But tonight, Shorty's at home was..PHENOMENAL. Just got one pizza; all bacon, half onion, half banana pepper. Crust was deliciously crispy. Sauce was tangy and delicious (a little sweet, no complaints). Cheese tasted delicious - not sure what kind of blend they use. Gonna be hard to try something else after this gem.. read more

This was my first trip here after a friend from work told me to try it. The crust is homemade and has a great flavor. I tried the pacer which is double pepperoni and cheese, which was lots of cheese. The wife had the chil spaghetti with a salad and garlic bread. I will be back to try other items on the menu, wings, burgers and subs. read more

On our quest to try Ohio's best wings. Shorty's was our 4th stop of 11. So far I'd say these were the best. Breaded wings of about 7 sauces. One of my pet peeves of wings is when they come out with very little sauce. If this is a concern of yours rest assured these wings are sloppy wet. We tried a variety of sauces. My favorite was the garlic and the very hot sauces. The very hot will make your lips tingle. They are hot. We weren't able to try to mango habenero because they were out of the sauce for the day. Too bad. The service was great. The girl that waited on us was attentive and very nice. I hear their pizza is very good. But since we were on a wing tour we stuck with just the wings. We eat shorty's whenever we feel like "splurging" on pizza because they're much more expensive than the surrounding chain pizza joints. We ordered an extra large bbq chicken pizza for take out. When it got home, I couldn't believe they let it leave their restaurant.. it was so overcooked that we could barely chew it, there was maybe one handful of chicken on it (an extra large), no sauce, and no cheese. It wasn't hot either, it felt like it had been sitting out for an hour and we picked it up at the time they told us. Now I'm left unsatisfied and my jaw hurts from gnawing through cardboard like crust. AND, we spent $35! Won't be coming back. read more

This was the worst service ever! We walked in and it was busy so we expected it to take a little more time than usual. With that said we made a decision that we would be patient. We ordered the fried pickles and fried mushrooms for an appetizer, 2 pizzas, lasagna, and the Chili Mac. Thirty minutes in and still no food or appetizers. When we asked our waitress about our appetizers she told us it would be 5-10 minutes. Twenty minutes later and still no appetizers or food. We were really starting to get frustrated at this point, but didn't want to leave because we had invested so much time. Ten more minutes and we STILL hadn't gotten appetizers or food. At this point we spotted a couple who came in at least 20 minutes after us getting fried pickles, fried mushrooms and a meat pizza (which I had ordered). Now we were REALLY MAD! We had spent more than an hour waiting for food not to mention 30 minutes driving there and still hadn't gotten our food but the couple next to us was getting the exact same food we had ordered. We made an assumption that they had been given our food! We were so upset that we stormed out. (I would give this less than one star if I could.) I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone! read more

We tried to do some takeout on Thursday 3/26 around noon during the restrictions...says they are open for carryout but after 4 calls where call went straight to a recording saying to leave a message...we went elsewhere. This is not so much a complaint as it is a heads up...know these are trying times...if it's a phone issue...hope you fix it. read more

Avoid this restaurant! This was the very first time in my 45 years that I've walked out of a restaurant, but the worst experience of my restaurant life was redeemed by Taranto's in Lewis Center. Here's the review we left for them: TARANTO'S: This was an amazing place! We just had a terrible time at a restaurant and walked out because we had waited an hour and a half without even getting so much as an appetizer. We were in a crabby mood when we came in and the manager took our drink order while we were telling him our experience at this restaurant. He said that he was so sorry about what had happened and how we must have been starving, so he was going to make sure to get our food out quickly. Not only was he an incredible waiter with a great personality, but he gave us a free appetizer and fixed a mistake that wasn't even his or Taranto's. He was quick when we ordered our pizza's and drinks and appetizers and the food was fantastic! I would definitely recommend Taranto's! I would not recommend eating anything here unless it is pizza. I've tried their cheeseburger before and drank a whole 32oz gatorade trying to get the dried beef patty down my throat. The flavor was similar to cardboard and the fries were soggy and salt free as well. read more

We went in for lunch and split a sub and pizza, both were great but the pizza was just awesome! You can tell the dough & sauce were made from scratch. Delish! Good selection of draft beer. Food was decent. Not the greatest not the worst in Delaware. Sat outside. Server did not know what beers they had on tap aside from domestics. Saw a sign that listed craft breweries. Asked what beers they had. She had to get a list. Perhaps they should have a beer list for their customers. Ordered 2 beers that she said they had. Brought one out that was not ordered. Said they didn't have the other. Said they didn't have any ipa's. Still charged us for it. So if you are into domestic beer and decent (not great) food you will like this place. WOW What a disappointment. Ordered a large all pepperoni and half mushroom, my half which was pepperoni had 6 pieces of pepperoni on the whole half. This place has horrible service. We've been here twice and had the same experience both times. You can easily get a seat but after that you become invisible. The wait staff is non existent and you wait forever to just get a menu. After an hour, we had yet to get our food while we watched table after table be served and leave. The only reason this place gets two stars is for the garlic cheesy bread. Poor service easily outweighs good food. read more

Great little neighborhood restaurant/bar. Stopped in for our first time tonight, the place was busy. There were only a few tables available. Service was quick with our soft drinks & to take our order - a 16" pepperoni pizza. They were slammed with carry out orders, a good sign I figured! It was about 20 min. On our order, no problem as there are plenty of TV's and the Cleveland Indians were winning! Our pizza arrived and looked great - a thin crust pie with a nice crust around it. About $17 for a 16 inch pepperoni + bacon on one half, sausage on the other half. They forgot the sausage! Pizza started off pretty good as for the edge pieces, however, the center pieces, which were about 1/2 of the pizza were soggy and pretty disgusting! Also bought a chef salad for $8, which was really worth about $4 elsewhere, although was good -- just way overpriced. Won't go back for pizza, but may try something else. read more

Service was very very slow. After waiting for 40 minutes for our food to arrive, only half was brought out and was told the rest was coming right up. That was not the case, asked where the rest was, and was told it would be out within 3 mins. After 15 mins, it finally arrived. I mentioned to the waitress about my displeasure abut it taking so long but was never offered to speak to anyone. Was told that it was because of a large pizza order that went to the university that took up all the space in the ovens. I didn't know that they cooked hamburgers, fish, and mac n cheese in the oven. Even though a couple came in and sat at the bar, and received a pizza within 10 minutes. This was my first time and will be my last. After posting on their site, owner told me to call him which I did. The women who took my call was rude and told me he was busy in the kitchen. I mentioned to her that he told me to call and that I was calling to speak with him. She asked me, "can't you just leave a message". I told her to have John call me, which he hasn't.
