WOW WOW WOW You could sense the love and care that went into this treat immediately. It had top notch packaging including instructions on how to cut and store (for up to 6 month in the freezer). Although I'm surprised how quickly I'm working through this 2 pound (you read that right) treat - I did share 1/3 of the pan with friends, including a Scottish lass! Not only was the packaging visually stunning, but eating the shortbread with my eyes was also satisfying. From the beautiful colored layers with a raspberry and apricot jelly layer (it's the best when a rainbow treat has both) to the decadent dark chocolate topped with some playful rainbow sprinkles. The flavor was amazing, the buttery shortbread note is the star - as it should be. But the jelly and chocolate notes were perfect. The almond note is subtle, but it's definitely present - the packaging listed the almond ingredient as "almond essence" which is accurate. It really reminded me of a Linzertorte cookie - in a good way! Which makes sense because there are a number of shared elements between the two: buttery crumbly pastry, nutty flavor, fruit jam, and I've had chocolate dipped Linzertorte too which further aligns them. This was a really fun and satisfying take on a Rainbow Cookie. They do have pre-scheduled in person pick up in Jersey City, but they ship nationally through goldbelly.

I've been following Shortbread Society on Instagram for a few months now and have been curious to place an order from them to try out some of their shortbread. If you follow them on social media, you will see how they transform something so simple, like shortbread, into an intricate delicacy. I was lucky enough to win a free shortbread from them through a social media giveaway. The prize consisted of a free tray of the Birthday Baby Buttercream Shortbread. It is a shortbread that has a cake flavor to it and filled with rainbow sprinkles. It's topped with pink buttercream frosting, more sprinkles, and edible glitter for a little more razzle dazzle. The owner/manager was very communicative during the shipping process, providing me with the shipping information and later checking to see if I received it. They also provided guidance on how to serve the shortbread. Since it arrives in a tray and is usually cold, you want to take it out of the tray and let it come down to room temperature before slicing. As for the shortbread, I thought it was delicious! Personally, I could've done without the frosting or without so much of it, but that's just my personal preference. I'm typically the one who wipes half the frosting off cupcakes if I think it's too much. Overall, I'm grateful for the chance to try out Shortbread Society and look forward to placing an order in the future when I get the chance to go to Jersey City.

I've ordered from them twice now and their shortbread is legit!! I've tried the millionaires and the billionaires, if you like salted caramel, GET THE BILLIONAIRES!! IT'S SO GOOD!!! Also, I really love the whole secret society concept even though it's not that much of a secret anymore!! Their shortbread is good but their presentation blew me away!! You'll see!! I'll definitely be ordering again!!!

Okay wow where do I begin with this product? So I ordered this off goldbelly to celebrate going through financial licensing with my firm. I love anything birthday cake flavored and loved the look of this companies products on the site. I did not pay extra for the absolutely GORGEOUS box they shipped my treat in. That is an option though so I can only imagine what the packing would have looked like if I did pick that. The product itself is melt in your mouth delicious and I love the edible glitter on top. I cannot wait to visit Shortbread Society in person and would love to do so soon as I live on the east coast. Anyway, I hope this company stays in business forever or as long as they're willing to run it! I will be a returning customer in the future for sure!

The pics of this shortbread are gorgeous and so is the actual taste of the shortbread! I'm not usually a fan of it because it's typically dry and bland. But this shortbread tastes like a moist cookie or blondie. It is pricey but worth the splurge. Plus, the bakers/owners are the nicest people. The flavors are inventive and always delicious. Highly recommend. BTW they are a ghost kitchen, so you have to DM them on Instagram to place an order.

Update: ordered through gold belly again. This time tried the blueberry crumble, OG, and millionaire. Crumble was divine and you need to order it asap. Omg, drooling thinking of my afternoon tea tomorrow. Get it, thank me later. Can't wait to try a lemon rotation on gold belly...until then.

It's a secret. But not really. DM @shortbreadsociety on Instagram for the address. Set up a Venmo exchange with Chef Scottish Francis's wife, stop by the spot in Astoria, and pick up some of the best shortbread you've ever had. Of Masterchef fame, and then more recently locally first at Gossip Coffee and then Sugar & Water as the man behind the doughnuts, Scottish Francis's newest creations are his best yet. They are making exciting new flavors every week, including a gorgeous Independence Day sampler last weekend for July 4th, and for this week a Banana Nutella flavor that looks to be one of the best yet. But definitely try the classic Millionaires flavor for your first time. It will get you hooked and make you keep coming back. Follow them on Instagram for all the details, including some possible changes to location soon and popups in the city for easier access to these must try desserts.

Honestly can't say enough about this company or their products! This is the 2nd time I've ordered them from gold belly (I am not local to them) and they DO NOT DISAPPOINT! The product you receive is exactly as they show it! The owners are so helpful and so sweet! I can't even describe how delicious their shortbread is. I ordered their new Pistachio Millionaires shortbread. Wow. That's all I can say! Quality, presentation, and customer service is spot on. Thank you Chef and Christine!

I first experienced the glorious gift of Shortbread Society through Goldbelly. My friends sent me the peanut butter cup shortbread for my birthday, and I do not exaggerate when I say this was a life changing dessert. The gorgeous layers and flavors in this shortbread were unlike anything I've ever experienced before in a dessert. I recently visited one of their weekly pop ups to try their new Tiramisu shortbread. It was absolutely delightful to correspond with Christine on IG to place my order and I got to pick up my order from Chef Scottish Francis himself! These two are so passionate about their creation, and I'm just happy to share more love for it!

Been seeing this stuff all over Instagram for ages and finally got to try it when my friend got me the peppermint shortbread as a Christmas present. It was amazing!! (Picked up in the west village.)

I came across this place after they did a collaboration with my favorite ice cream shop, Caffe Panna. I love shortbread and was intrigued by the variety of flavors offered by Shortbread Society. As the other reviews indicate, this shop has a secret pop-up theme and you have to order the shortbread in advance through their instagram. After ordering, you are then told where to pick the shortbread up. My friend and I decided to order the lemon shortbread with yuzu chocolate topping and the birthday cake shortbreads to share. I loved the lemon shortbread and think it is one of the best desserts I've eaten this year. The birthday cake shortbread was good, but very sweet with a lot of frosting and not something I could eat a lot of unfortunately. I would highly recommend the lemon one to anyone who loves shortbread and lemon desserts. This place is by no means affordable (nearly 35-40 dollars per a tray of shortbread depending on which one), but definitely a must-try for shortbread fans. I hope that if they eventually go brick and mortar they make the price point a bit more reasonable or consider perhaps doing individual sized portion... I think between 20-30 is probably a more reasonable price for the size of the shortbread tray.

Holding it or tasting it gives a substantial, high-quality feel. Green Tea: The highest praise Chinese people can give for desserts--not sweet--and it truly tastes like green tea, not matcha. The refreshing bitterness was incredibly pure, even bordering on slightly bitter, which is extremely rare in the US. Vanilla Peanut Butter: Very milky, but extremely salty, like eating peanut butter spread on bread. The vanilla flavor was almost completely masked. Coconut & Cream: I've always trusted American coconut ice cream, but this time it was a bit of a disappointment. The cream completely overshadowed the coconut, so much so that it took me a long time to recall what flavor I actually ordered. Ube: One bite brought back childhood memories, exactly the same as the ube flavor Wuyang五羊 ice cream cone. It was so touching I didn't order this in the end since I want to try more flavors as possible. I don't know why, but ube flavor seems to be gradually fading in China... Blueberry Cheesecake: The initial taste was a rich, sweet cream, with a refreshing hint of blueberry tartness in the aftertaste. It's pretty good, but honestly, it's not particularly outstanding. Banana Peanut Butter Chunk: The staff recommended this signature dish, and it once again made me realize how subjective taste can be... It's on the sweeter and saltier side, with a very strong flavor, but more importantly, it has a noticeable artificial banana flavor.
