Dallasites who have grown up in this area attach more meaning than most because of proximity to their " part of Dallas". It's still a great place for a fall or spring picnic Go

They have this cool slide/rope climbing contraption that kids 5+ can enjoy. We broke the rules a bit and let both our kids (4&2) play on it before it got too rowdy with older kids. The slide can get busy so it's wise to be careful with the little ones. For the smaller kids there are some toy houses and another climbing contraption with ropes and other balancing items. Right off the playground is a nice hill so if the weather is good, I'm sure you could roll down it! This park was overall a pleasant experience and kept the kids entertained.

The gazebo gives a great view of the lake and being able to walk the shore and skip rocks is always a very relaxing thing to do. There's actually a secret spot tucked off away from the lake that people don't know about. Good fishing in that part, but not so much in the lake itself from the human interaction on the edge of the water. Families come out and hang out and windsurf so it's pretty family friendly. Also a nice place to go on a date and star gaze. Lots of traffic here on the holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Juneteenth, and New Years. People from all over come out and celebrate and it can get a little hectic but there's plenty of space to do what you want. I'll always love this place

My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a picnic, and we mostly found it. The spot by what might be described as a swimming hole (with easiest access to water) was pretty crowded, packed with happily squealing children and drunk people on jet skis, but up on the grassy hill we had the place to ourselves. We spread out our blanket, gazed out at the water and ate our packed sandwiches in perfect peace. We even wandered up the hill after lunch and explored the little playground, basketball court, and picnic tables that were there. My only complaint might be the "restroom"-- two dilapidated port-a-potties that looked pretty bad and smelled worse. But considering that it's free park, free to enjoy the lake and a pretty nice place to be in general, I can get by with mediocre toilets.

Here's why: Some maintenance work is needed as reflected in the photographs (especially the 1/2 basketball court) and when comparing it to some other City of Murphy Parks it just didn't seem fair to give it a 5 star rating. Wish I could have given it a 4.7 rating but Yelp doesn't permit fractional rating. This 2002 quaint park is located next to Boggess elementary school which helps contribute to the popularity and usage of the younger Murphy population I am sure. It has two shaded playgrounds (much needed during a Texas Summer), swings, a pavilion with BBQ grill (can reserve through City of Murphy Parks & Recreation @ 972-468-4444), electricity, a half basketball court, drinking fountain, backstop, open fields and a .34 mile cement walking loop trail. It is a well landscaped and maintained park. In short, this awesome resource is a must place to spend some time for the neighborhood, pet fur baby owners and dog walkers/pet sitters like me. Most of it is cement, but there are sections of it that are bridges made out of wood, so watch your step. It helps break up the monotony of running on you average sidewalk. The path goes up and down some nice hills, through heavily wooded areas, and right along the side of some residential streets. There is a opening where you run next to and cross over a creek, so I can imagine that the mosquito population here can be pretty heavy. Be careful and wear some DEET. Probably the crown jewel of this park (for some people, not for me), is this huge play ground. When I say huge, I mean HUGE!!! It's a pretty massive structure of wooden beams and planks to climb and play on. The path cuts right by it, so if you take it the whole 1.44 miles around, you'll pass by it! Cool place if you want a change of scenery and a nice trail to walk. If you're close by, take a walk and enjoy Mesquite!
