Just being able to hear the water waves, and seeing the sun glistening against the water is a tranquil vibe. On the some weekends there are people giving birthday parties or barbecuing at the Barbecue Grills. There is a Fishing Pier, Parking lot area, Pavilions (Small), Picnic Tables, a Playground where my kids play and swing, a Sand Volleyball Court, Trails for Hiking / Biking. I enjoy the peace and convenience of the view to walk around the lakeside in a calm setting.

The gazebo gives a great view of the lake and being able to walk the shore and skip rocks is always a very relaxing thing to do. There's actually a secret spot tucked off away from the lake that people don't know about. Good fishing in that part, but not so much in the lake itself from the human interaction on the edge of the water. Families come out and hang out and windsurf so it's pretty family friendly. Also a nice place to go on a date and star gaze. Lots of traffic here on the holidays like Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Juneteenth, and New Years. People from all over come out and celebrate and it can get a little hectic but there's plenty of space to do what you want. I'll always love this place

It's…read morejust 20 minutes west on I-30, a few circuitous turns down residential streets, and suddenly you're there, surrounded by a huge, beautiful expanse of water. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday afternoon looking for a peaceful place to enjoy a picnic, and we mostly found it. The spot by what might be described as a swimming hole (with easiest access to water) was pretty crowded, packed with happily squealing children and drunk people on jet skis, but up on the grassy hill we had the place to ourselves. We spread out our blanket, gazed out at the water and ate our packed sandwiches in perfect peace. We even wandered up the hill after lunch and explored the little playground, basketball court, and picnic tables that were there. My only complaint might be the "restroom"-- two dilapidated port-a-potties that looked pretty bad and smelled worse. But considering that it's free park, free to enjoy the lake and a pretty nice place to be in general, I can get by with mediocre toilets.

A few weeks ago, we arrived to launch our boat, and there was no one in the office to collect the launch fee. Rather than leaving without paying, we left a $20 bill with a note. The launch fee is $12, and when we called the next day, we were told we had an $8 credit. Today, we returned, paid our launch fee, and asked to use our $8 credit. Unfortunately, the lady manager was incredibly rude--not only to us, but also to the employee working in the office. The tone, attitude, and overall way the situation was handled were completely unnecessary. We always try to do the right thing, and that's exactly what we did by paying even when no one was there. It's disappointing to be treated with such disrespect after making the effort to be honest. I hope Harbor Bay Marina takes customer service more seriously because no customer--or employee--deserves to be treated that way.

It was $3.49 for a dozen live minnow and $6.49 for a bag of frozen shad. $8 per person. $1 per additional rod. Bathrooms are pretty clean. The fishing barge is located at the end of the pier. Enter through the main store. There's an inside fishing area in the barge with a rectangular hole where you drop your line in. I didn't go there because there are people in there smoking up a storm. We fished outside at the end of the barge facing the lake. Be careful if you choose this spot because you can get your line snagged very easily, especially on the right side. 3 stars for paying $8 and no fish and also for losing 3 lures from snags.

In my Scooby voice, "Ruh-Oh" It does seem like it's been here for awhile so not really sure if specifics get overseen by the city or whom exactly. Simple around the park clean up would go miles. For a park w/playing fields, it does its job and it's a great area for practice time. Also near Kids Kingdom and Rowlett Recreation. Convenience within 5 min.

Overall the river is clean but there were some spots where trash was deposited from previous washouts. I would try a run farther up river for a better experience next time. The staff was friendly and helpful but the rental equipment is definitely well worn and some in our group had problems with adjusting their seat backs and the seat cushions were quite hard after 1 hour on a 3 hour trip.
