This park is workable but without grass it's a little less than fantastic. I know, we're in a drought and I should just be happy with their cedar chip, hamster habitat, over there... but I'm not. Arriving here can be a challenge too. Apple Maps guides you right into shoreline amphitheater which means you pass the dog park on the right. It's hidden. Make sure you TURN RIGHT on NORTH RD. That's where the entrance is. It is the case this park has more Corgi per square inch than there are wooks at Burning Man. MV dog park is chock-a-block with Shiba Inu Doge too. I hope that helps. That is all.

Lame dog park with no grass, no trees, no nothin! My dog likes to play with the ball but all these rocks stick to everything and she could end up swallowing them or choking on them. I've always hated dog parks with no grass for this very reason. We stopped here so she could stretch her legs but no ball time ): Also, it's called "Shoreline Dog Park" but it should be called "Next To Giant Hill Blocking Entire View Of Shoreline, Dog Park"

Loved it. Small and big dog side and super nice owners. I've gone in the morning and very few people use it. Lots of people and pups after 5 in the afternoon. Well maintained, I've seen someone cleaning every morning.

Great spot! Today was a shiba inu party which was awesome! 12+ shiba Inu around to play with "9Pretty convenient location. Separated small dog and big dog to two different areas.

This review is for the *Shoreline Park* and NOT the Dog Park, which is located on North Road just OUTSIDE the main entrance to Shoreline. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is No Domesticated Animals Policy in use on all the Shoreline Park grounds. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Shoreline Park @Mountain View is the 750-acre wildlife and recreation area, wetlands, and wildlife refuge and habitat. Shoreline Park offers wide variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, kite flying, bird watching, biking, sailing, windsurfing, boating, and golfing. The park is situated along the wetlands by the San Francisco Bay and provides for a beautiful setting and gorgeous views of the mountains to the west and east across the bay. It is centrally located in the heart of Silicon Valley. There are miles of trails available for jogging, hiking and biking. There is abundance of wildlife along unpaved paths, paved roads, and hiking trials. On the western edge of the park, the trails connect to the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve. The park itself is comprised of irrigated meadowlands, wildlife and habitat areas with self-guided interpretive signage, and also offers environmental tours along the eight miles of paved trails. Extensive wetlands include two tidal marshes, two sloughs, a seasonal marsh and storm retention basin, two creeks and five irrigation reservoirs on the golf course. Shoreline Park first opened to the public in 1983. It is open everyday, from sunrise to sunset. The City of Mountain View operates a Shoreline Division, which is responsible for operation, protection and enhancement of environmental areas within Shoreline. Shoreline Park amenities include a small man made boat sailing lake (about 50 acres) operated by Silicon Shores, with a boathouse and a lakeside cafe, a golf course with Michael's restaurant, clubhouse and banquet facilities, and the historic Rengstorff House and gardens, all of which are perfect for leisure time and recreational activities. Shoreline has unique history in that it stands on 20 million cubic yards of refuse. The lowlands were raised 20 feet to a usable height with landfill, accepting garbage from San Francisco from 1965 until 1983 (park opening), while also creating a barrier to prevent flooding in Mountain View and surrounding areas. What used to be over 600 acres of old landfills, wrecking yards and hog farms were transformed into one of the San Francisco Bay most popular regional recreation areas. Shoreline's landfill methane, generated by decomposing refuse, is captured through the management system to generate power. I should also note that next to the golf course there is a Shoreline Amphitheatre, an outdoor concert venue, also built on a landfill in 1985-86 as part of the Shoreline Park project. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To protect the wildlife habitat (mainly birds), THERE ARE NO DOGS ALLOWED on the Shoreline Park grounds anywhere, including at the lake (even if the dog is inside the vehicle when entering to pick up your kid from the summer camp). This is called the "no domesticated animals" policy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This Sunday, me and my friend Todd went here with his gorgeous german shepard. We both live in Redwood City but chose this place instead because it was raining, and there's no mud. This place is great. Dog parks are better than playgrounds. It cracks me up to hear all the doggie parents conglomerating in a circle, telling tales of how Gracie did this the other day and Barker did that.... But I just wish people could be a little more careful about keeping an eye on their dogs. As we were getting off one of the benches, getting ready to leave, it became difficult for me to just pack it up and leave knowing I'd seen some dog take a majorly diahrreatic crap and leave the puddle there, unbeknownst to the owner. My friend's dog, Parker, ended up gleefully digging next to it and covering it with sand. Which made me keep thinking... someone's going to step right in that pile 'o sh*t and be mighty pissed. So I scooped it up (one of those moments where you're going... please god do not let there be some hole in this bag...). I may have a few cats but... you know you're a dog person at heart when you don't think twice about picking up someone else's dog sh*t. UPDATE: For anyone who wants to know how to get here, it's easy. Just take the shorline East exit and keep going all the way straight till you're almost at the gate for the golf course. You'll see a green sign for it on the right.

If you want a dog park during the week that's not slammed pack with other dogs then this is the place. I just moved in the area and I love that I can have one on one with my dog.

Great place for taking photos! Lots of beautiful backgrounds. Big parking lot is a huge plus. There are many walking and running pathways. Dogs are not allowed in this park. I'd definitely recommend coming here on a sunny weekend if you're looking for a park to hit up!

We've come to this dog park off and on for 10+ years and have always found it to be clean and safe for our small dogs. Our newest pup, a rescue, much prefers this park to others we've visited like Los Gatos Creek park and Del Monte park. He's shy and not super trusting of new humans or dogs so he always seems to shut down when we take him to other dog parks...but not this one. I think it's because the vibe is a bit more relaxed and the setting itself is more calming for him because it's surrounded by open space and there's no road noise. It's great that there are separate areas for small dogs and big dogs but he even feels safe visiting the big dogs because that side is so large that he still can be "socially distant" if he wants (and so can we). Four paws up for Shoreline!

We wanted to find a park that is relatively new/in good condition and not too crowded to let the little ones safely play. I'm honestly surprised that this isn't a more popular place to bring your kids. I suppose a part of it is because it is a neighborhood park without dedicated parking, although there is plenty of street parking. With that being said, the play area is gated so it is safe to let your children roam with supervision, the play structures are all in very good condition and the padded flooring is intact across the park. Very suitable for toddlers and older children, they even have a baby changing station inside of the bathroom, as well as adequate drinking fountains and drinking fountains for dogs. We were there on a Saturday morning, from 9 to 10am and were the only family there the entire time. This is completely different compared to some of the other parks in Sunnyvale or San Jose, where it can become a zoo by that time. We will definitely be setting up future play dates here.

Definitely meant for the surrounding neighborhoods. There are multiple entrances but are basically towards the end of each street. It seems dog friendly enough with a dog enclosure and easy to stroll around and walk your dog. There's a nice grassy area in the center and I noticed a few instances of owners playing catch with their dogs off-leash. There are picnic tables by the playground and public bathrooms all in the same area. The only water fountain I found was by the picnic/playground/bathroom area and it had a lower fountain for dogs. **Dog park: The dog area was really small, all dirt with one bench. Big dog and small dog are separated but the size is pretty similar to each other with the big dog having just a LITTLE bit more space. It was empty for me except for 1 dog owner but I wonder if there would be more dogs after-work hours for some socialization :-) you would have to walk a little but further down to the main area for water fountain.

The park is divided in two: big dog and small dogs. Its mostly just dry dirt with some tanbark along the edges. No poop bags are provided however, there is a spot for some tennis balls and a water fountain along with a big bowl. Theres 4 benches mostly parked under the shade of big trees so you can expect a bit of seating. Parking right next to the dog park is pretty limited as it's mostly just street parking along Piedmont Road. No food or drinks are allowed and people, for the most part, follow the rules. Sometimes people bring their medium/large dogs into the small dog park so do keep an eye on your dog. The park is pretty well kept and clean throughout despite no bags being provided. Most of the people who frequent this park seem very kind and warm. If you have a social pup, I would come here and check it out.

I briefly visited from out of town for a breed specific meet up so my experience is not that of a regular. Pros include the spaciousness, real grass, bench seating, mature trees providing shade, trash bins inside the park area including poop scoopers, and a water fountain/bowl. When I went the water fountain wasn't working. I did some research beforehand. (Google Maps calls this the Piedmont Road Dog Park. I don't know if that's the official name.) They don't have poop bags either. I think these drawbacks will likely be remedied in the future. I've seen at other dog parks the community members step up and install back up poop bags or bring in stainless steel troughs for the water. In the meantime, bring your own bags and water! The one thing I really did not like was the parking situation. Piedmont seems very busy. There isn't a parking lot to pull into. I drove past the park initially. It's street parking on Piedmont with some areas of the curb being red or green. The solution would be for someone to park in a lot inside the park (another entrance) and to walk to the dog parks. There's also a shopping plaza across the street and residential streets nearby if you don't mind crossing the street. The real grass and mature trees/shade are really rare for a dog park! I could see this place being five stars for someone that lives in the area and is more experienced with the parking situation than me.
