It's hard to rate an apartment complex, because there is so much variance between people's living experiences (e.g. noisy neighbors or things breaking); I'm guessing there are a lot of people like me who are very satisfied, but didn't bother to write a review. I am hoping to represent some of that crowd. For context, I stayed here from June 2013 to August 2018 in a 2 BR 2 BA unit. I've lived in 3 other apartments in the Bay Area, mostly in Berkeley. === Location === + Wonderful view of SF right across the street. The beach is very nice to walk on or lay out on. + 10-15 minute walk from South Shore Center, which has Trader Joes, Safeway, Walgreens, and some restaurants and stores. + Bus stop is right across the street to get you to SF or South Shore Center. + Very safe. In my 5 years here, only crimes I can remember are (1) there were some reports of mail theft about a year ago. Management upgraded our mailboxes in response. (2) A noise complaint at night maybe 2 years ago; police came and talked to neighbors. - You can hear airplanes flying overhead as well as BART at night. They aren't that close, though, so it's never bothered me. - No direct access to BART. However, the aforementioned bus stop can take you directly to 12th street Oakland BART which is pretty convenient if you can work out the schedules. === Facilities & Units === + Pool and gym are always clean and working. + Garbage is generally well-maintained and not overflowing (compared to other complexes I've stayed at, where it is routinely messy). + Halls, laundry room, etc. are generally well-maintained, because the maintenance men (Manuel and Rommel) are very diligent about cleaning up anything they see. + Water pressure is insanely good. - Things aren't as new as the exterior would suggest. Major renovations were done in the past year, but these were mostly exterior. The inside of the building is still pretty old. The staircases especially seem in poor condition. - Related to above, the whole complex has a faint smell. Probably due to being an old building. Everything else pretty much just matches expectations. Drawers/cabinets/carpets are a bit old, but you can discover that when you visit. === Staff === It's been the same managers for many years, so I feel comfortable commenting on staff in my 5 years of experience. + Everyone is helpful and friendly. Anything I requested either via the online ticket system or via paper notes was handled promptly and thoroughly. + The managers (Myrna and Ana) are remarkably well organized. Any time you pop into the office and request something, they magically reach into their desk or closet and pull out a color-coordinated binder with whatever you wanted. In general, I would definitely vouch for the character of the managers. It just feels like they are on your side when it comes to things like accidentally paying rent late one month, or accidentally locking myself out, or things like that. === Things to be aware of === * It gets warm especially at night on the third floor. 80-85F on warm days, even with the windows open and fan blowing. This is 10-15 degrees warmer than it is outside. * You are responsible for utilities, water, and garbage. For my 2 BR, 1 Bath, this adds up to about $160/month total. This is different from other apartments I've stayed at where I was only responsible for utilities, but not water and garbage. * You are pretty much locked into having Comcast if you want fast internet. My reason for moving out is I am moving to a different state where my wife is starting school. Otherwise I would probably have been happy living here for years to come. read more

We moved into Shoreline Apartments in January, 2021. We love it here. I couldn't recommend it more. Myrna, the manager does an amazing job. She is always so friendly and kind. My little dog, Daisy fell in love with Myrna and Ana. The complex is beautiful and the staff is nice and friendly. I give it a 10. I couldn't be happier. We are directly across the street from the beach with views of San Francisco. Do yourself a favorite and check it out for yourself. Tell them "Daisy" sent you. read more

If you are reading this review, please know that you are lucky and also you are about to save yourself from severe headache that will last for a whole year! Whatever you'd done in your life, don't make the same mistake I've done! I haven't looked at this place's reviews like you are doing now! I had an unpleasant, stressful, and worst experience ever with this place! First of all, let's start with home built-in furnitur. According to what I was paying which was $2,600 per month for two bed rooms; at least I was expecting decent windows and doors, but what I got is old and cheap drawers, old built-in closets, worn out slide doors. Whenever you call the maintenance guys "Myrna and Ana's husbands" it'll take them forever to come. And if they show up; they don't do right. They always leave us with total dissatisfaction! This apartment complex is totally terrible with every sense of the word. I lived there for a whole year. In terms of hygiene, I am sure you will be disappointed. We were living in unit 206 B second floor. When you walk through the corridor, you smell unpleasant and bad odor. Most of the times, a smell of cigarette sweep in your apartment. They rarely replace air refreshers. For a whole year, the corridor never smelled nice! Carpet needs attention, they vacuum the carpet only on weekends. We have had pest problem mice were climbing up our balcony, hiding under sofa and trying to get inside. After a long conversation on the phone, the office called pest control. And finally come and they set mouse traps in our balcony. Big rat and mice were caught, it was gross and disgusting! whenever you complain to the office. Their excuse was "we are remodeling the units" Myrna said she and went on and on with her crapy excuses. A funny one was, "these rats came from the beach, they don't live here!" Myrna said. "Have you not seen a beach rat before!" She added. "Honestly, I haven't seen one in my whole life but in shoreline apartments!" I whispered to myself. Thirdly, in terms of security, We've had the worst and unreliable security level ever! I had a beautiful and expensive bike locked with metal chain to the bike lots downstairs. One day I came downstairs to ride my (locked and secured) bike. I didn't find it anywhere and I looked everywhere possible for it but in vain. Eventually I found my metal chain and the lock thrown on the ground. I got mad and went to the office, trying to find some answers! "We don't know who took your bike, it wasn't clear on surveillance camera who took it!" Myrna simply said. "you can call the police if you want! We are sorry for your loss!" They added. "What a secured place!". Once a man with gun went inside the shoreline apartments. Alameda Police Department were camping in the complex for two days! They knocked at everyone's door, they knocked at ours at 2:30 am to ask us about some freaks' names! We witnessed another incident a guy got inside the complex and was caught on camera. He was trying to open the mail boxes! Since that day, we started to check our mail box everyday! Some residents lost mail and packages, we were lucky he didn't opened our mail box. When you complain to the office, their ready made answer to shut you up "it happens everywhere, even in Alameda!". The only thing was holding me from moving is my lease. Once you signed that lease, you will be locked up "screwed up" for the whole year! Once we had a problem in our sewage, I called the office and nobody picked up the phone I left them like three voice mails but nobody return my calls. Unlike Myrna and Ana, I tried calling the main office in San Leandro, they return my call and solve my problem so I give them the credits for that! At the same time I don't share the same feeling with Myrna and Ana; simply because of their lousy treatment and annoying attitude. To be frank with you, I haven't seen such poor communication and management skills! When it comes to rip you off, I am sure they are pretty good at it. When something wrong happened, their faces and behavior will change dramatically. The most uncomfortable thing I have experienced with these people at the office is when you have a problem and bring it up to them they will argue with you insult your intelligence like Myrna's usual statement "I don't think you understand your lease agreement" or "you signed a lease agreement, and this will breach your lease agreement". Oh my goodness a terrible experience in this place, I hope you will not be the next victim! "What a waste of money, totally not worth it!" P.S. If you ever wondered why there are a lot of nice reviews! Sorry to disappoint you but the rental office made an offer of $50 discount "off-rent" if you like Shoreline Apartments on yelp. My husband was living there fore around 4 years, the Staff is very impolite, inefficient and very racist. On the phone they don't care about your requests or questions. In person, they pretend they pay attention but it all fake. They wanted to change my husband for expenses that were not included I. The initial contract. The studio has mold and always smells humidity. Also you can smell the see weed from the shore. The pool is mor like a jacuzzi, the carpet on the hallways smells dirty since is very all. You'll be paying just for the location. Black mold and bad attitude from the managements office (Myrna & Ann) come free after you move in. We had black mold developing in our bathroom, every 5-6months management would come in spray a chemical, and paint over the mold. We had about 4 layers of paint over the mold by the time we moved out. Even the kitchen developed some black mold, right under the window. No amount of dehumidifiers help. We always "aired out" the apartment like the managers in the office suggests after you sign the lease. Pathetic way of handling complaints, zero hospitality. The place has a lot of potential, management needs to change. Myrna proudly says I've been here fifteen years, well you gotta update the way you work with changing times. Emerald properties owns shoreline, they need to seriously reevaluate who they want representing them. Ps- beware, do not give them your money, go down the street to the other apartment buildings and compare the facilities. laughinng at some of the "good" reviews bec they still havnt experieced the mold, constant stress and bad vibes. They do love dogs though, i'll give them that, most people do. they even allow large breeds even a few pitties. thats why they get a star! Myra and Ann are the most incompitent office "managers" ever. I do not understand how they let these women represent the company. They are FAKE and phony, dont let your first few interactions fool you. Ask them to help you with something they will do bare minimum. For isntance the laundry room machines, they break all the time. one of the times i had a load in the washing mashine and when i went to switch it out i had noticed the machine was leaking. i go to the office to ask Ann for help, and with a fake smile on her face she says "the machies are actually not our liability, you need to turn the water off from behind the machine. just go and trun the water off" I told her i was unncomfortble touching their equipment. she made me wait with my wet clothes in the washing machine(bec it wouldnt open) for quite a while before helping out. I drew her attention to my load being ruined and if she could help pay/start another machine. again she has sick smirk on her face ad said it was not her problem, and if i wanted my money i would need to call the washing machine company. when i asked for a number she gives me one that does not work. I know its not much money at all, its the principal of it. A smiliar situatuon arose in one of the sf buildings i used to live in where the machine ate my money and didnt start,when i called my building manager, they overrode and started it up for me. So i know it could be done. Initially, Myrna seems smart and like she had been there longer. Later you realize she is way worse.. she pretends like shes a little decision maker and helper but come time to show up she will beat aroud the bush and not help out either. i have heard so many people upset in the office and couldnt get why they were so frustrated. now I understand. THIS IS WHY THEY HAVE SO MANY VACANT APARTMENTS. why else would buildings i such a wonnderful location be so empty. Manuel (hes sweet but is trapped with being controlled by the office lady & MICHAEL are the two handy men the ONLY ones that actually work and get stuff done. I wish the bosses at emerald properties would invest their time in training Michael and promote him. he is a great man, hard working, honest and genuine. 1500 for an apartment for me means I might as well just live in the city and save myself the commute. Management seems focused on their numbers not your well being. Parking inside isn't impossible but on some days can be a pain. It's more modern than most of the complexes on the island but it's not really luxury. The gym is a bit mediocre and it's hard to enjoy the pool with so many other people also trying to enjoy it. read more

Shoreline Apartments are well situated right across Alameda's beautiful bay beach. When I called this place a home 7 years back, I looked at several other apartments on Shoreline Dr and found this community best maintained and satisfactory layout of rooms within the apartment. Apartment management is very responsive and makes sure to attend any issue reported to them just within couple of days. I trust them enough to fix any issue in my absence and have never regretted that. They also do a good job in keeping the premises clean. My hope is Emerald Properties, that owns these apartments, spends more to upgrade these apartments. Especially since they have increased rent significantly in recent times, they should have extra cash to spend on the facilities. read more

To start off, If you plan on being a long-term regular resident here, then also plan on having your rent raised every year by a couple hundred dollars. The new owner that took over a couple years ago decided to start raising the rent and throw utilities in from a sketchy company out in Utah, called Conservice. In addition, he decided to have the parking lot razed and install a AT&T cellular antenna right on top of one of the buildings, because parents of the children in the school next to the property did not want it there. Of course, all for the sake of $$$. So in that regard, the ownership claims they care about their residents, but as you can see from past actions, that's not the case, and it's just a business. The old owner was leaps and bounds better, and actually did care about the residents. Now for those of you reading this, and are moving away from the SF city area, you might think this is a good deal for your price range, and it might be, but keep in mind what's been put forth above, and also know you're getting charged hundreds more than what the original price was even this last year, since you'll be a new resident. Another important factor to keep in mind is that there is NO RENT CONTROL IN ALAMEDA. This is what is destroying any sense of community in the rental areas, and force long-term residents out of there homes, sad to say. Also, the walls and floors are thin, so yes, you will definitely be hearing your neighbors if they are somewhat loud. As for taking packages, management did used to do this about a year ago, and decided they didn't want to anymore. Besides this, I do think management is decent for the most part, and yes they do care about residents and the numbers, because this is their job, directly put. They have no say so over rent increases or any other structural changes to the complex, that's the owner; and the company that owns this complex and other properties is Emerald Properties, for reference. Regarding location, yes this is what you're mainly paying for, and the view is quite beautiful; however, you will have to put up with constant jet engine noise from airplanes flying into and from both regional airports (Oakland and SFO). Safety is great, and if there is any disturbance Alameda PD will be there to respond in a matter of a couple minutes. In conclusion, this is a decent place to live with pros and cons like anywhere else. Just don't expect some sort of "premier" experience by the beach, these apartment complexes are all renovated hotels from the 50's and 60's, in Alameda's naval hey day. Also, the laundry room did get renovated, and the "gym" has a new TV in it, so to be fair, there has been a couple minor upgrades, but just keep in mind, if there are any financial changes, you'll definitely be footing the bill. Hopefully this review helps in your prospective apartment hunting, and do keep in mind the bay area is WAY over-priced, and this housing bubble is only going to get bigger until it pops. Zero star rating. This was the worst apartment complex experience of my life. If you are interested in moving here do yourself a favor and DO NOT DO IT. I had a horrible experience with Myrna and Ana in the rental office for the past 4 years that I've lived here. They are very rude and don't have any understanding of how to provide quality service. The rent goes up by roughly 100 dollars every year but the apts are run down on the inside. There is a serious mold problem especially in the bathroom and the vintilation is outdated. The carpets in the hallway smell really bad and the paint job is very lousy. There is always cigarette smoke seeping into your apartment. The construction going on outside is extremely loud and they are only fixing the outside to attract people but the inside is horrible. There is a wierd lingering odor inside the apartment that makes vomit smell better. The appliances are actually not too bad but not that great either. You have to pay for laundry; which is open 24 hours but there are times that the machines do not funtion due to connection errors and they close the laundry room for a few days as a result. At my parking spot tree sap destroyed the paint on my car. I spoke with Dan and Laura from emerald properties management about the tree sap issue. All I could get was an apology and a new parking spot but they refused to pay for the damages. As if the place doesn't already sound like hell on earth the apartment is not very secure. Although it is gated, the side doors on the 1801 and 1777 are always left open for any Tom Dick and Harry to enter at any time. There is no kind on key system or badge or key fob to let you in. As a result people steal mail and packages that UPS FedEx or USPS leave outside your door when you're not home. I don't think they will ever listen to suggestions on home to improve the complex because Mryna once told me that I don't need to tell her how to do her job. Despite the fact that the place is always filthy, noisey during the day because it's located right next to a school, they still manage to find a few people to move in but they quickly realize that they have made a bad decision. People are moving out at record rates and we are talking about people who lived there for decades. To put the icing on the cake, when I moved out I had to dispose a sofa. I paid 25 dollars to aci who informed me to put it on the side of the street. ACI failed to pick up the sofa and Myra and Ana charged me 50 bucks. They were very rude about it. Ana lied to me saying that she left messages on my phone warning me that my sofa was still on the side of the street. I checked my call log and I had no messages from her. There was no way for me to know if this was true because I had already moved out. Oh there is also an extra water and garbage fee that comes up to 90 dollars a month. Everyone pays a flat fee. It is not based on each apartment's usage. I beg you if you love yourself DON'T MOVE IN HERE. This is the first review I have ever written in my life and I'm only doing it to help. New change in 2012, and 2013-there have been HUGE ANNUAL rent increases so even if you've lived here for 4 years, you are paying the same as a NEW TENANT moving in!! In 2013, the monthly increase has been a whopping 7% of last years rent! Watch out - your rent will increase AT LEAST $1200/year, or $100 a month. Even if you live here for 2-3 years, you will be paying close to what a new tenant will pay for the exact same unit!! OUTRAGEOUS!! A new person moved in across the hall (5 feet away) with the same floorplan and same view - and management gave me a notice demanding I pay close to the same as this new tenant who moved in last month! Rent increases only make sense if my rent is $300 less a month than a brand new unit - but these rent increases are intended to make sure all tenants are paying within $50 less OR MORE than what a new tenant would pay (until their rent goes up the next year). A new neighbor moved in 2013 who has the same unit, same view, but is paying less than we are being asked to pay after the rent increase. Rent increases doesn't make sense given that we get nothing for residing in an older unit. The bldg is old, and the water takes 1-2 minutes to become hot, making showers difficult. In the lease, the management does nothing about cleaning mold in the bathroom (which has no windows); it is up to the tenant to hire a mold remediation specialist. There have been many units that have mold problems because of the lack of ventilation. Also, I know of some units with BEDBUG infestation. Be sure you do not move in to those units!! 1801 Shoreline Apartments is NOT as upscale as South Shore Beach, so should not be commanding such high annual rent increases! No amenities, no reason why I should pay such high increase! Watch out if you live here for less than 3-5 years! Shoreline does not believe in "reasonable wear and tear," but instead will charge you upon move out if the paint does not look move in ready for the next tenant. Be prepared to hire someone to repaint all walls of the entire apartment! Ask Myrna/Anna and they will confirm this special clause in the lease. If the rent did not go up 7% a year, I would give this a higher rating. A lot of tenants have had it with the rent increases. They are living in a 4 year old apartment but being forced to pay the same for renovated apartments. I would beware of All EMERALD PROPERTIES! Is a beautiful and relaxing 2br for $1395 enough for you to leave your tiny apt in SF? Check this place out! After viewing 15 places in one day in Alameda, this was the very last place we saw, and the place we ended up renting immediately. We actually had appointments to see two other condos, but cancelled once we saw/applied for Shoreline. Please note we have only been living here for about 3 weeks. Pros: Beautiful location with bay view where you can see kiteboarders surfing. So relaxing. Seems quiet so far (of course there are three floors so it's expected that you can semi hear faint rustling of neighbors. The actual 2 bedroom apartment is among the largest (950 square feet), with new countertops and sinks. Neighbors seem professional. Management: Based on our 1 month experience, they have been quite nice! They gave us a move in package of dishwashing soap, cutting board, dish rag, toilet paper. Ana and Myrna are pretty helpful and nice thus far. Cons: Kitchen cabinets are a bit old, it's from the 60s so it has asbestos ceilings and lead paint as all bldgs built before 1979 do. Overall, if you are willing to rent apts older than 1980s, this is a great option. Cost: 2brs start at $1395, and are more depending on floor and garden, vs bay view. Great deal!! Say goodbye to the loud, cold, expensive SF and save $$ each month! There is a ferry for $160/month, or hi speed bus for $140 which is still a huge savings in rent! read more

I wish I looked at the review before signing my lease ! These are the WORSE apartments I have lived in! Completely disgusting, washers are always broken down ! The walls are extremely thin, you will never get quite due to being able to always hear your neighbors. Management is very biased. This is not a place we're you can feel comfortable or at home what so ever ! They only provide one parking spot even if you have more then one tenant. Forcing you to park on the street on the already crowded street and you can get a parking ticket even in the public parking. Your privacy or personal rights are of no concern to management, parking can be a bitch in the garage or on street, no laundry past 10 p.m. and while it's cool to be late with the rent in THE BIG LEBOWSKI, it ain't so with Shoreline apartments but the gym is okay if you're not hardcore and the jacuzzi is nice when it works. It's close to the nearby elementary and the beach is kinda ratty but peaceful. read more

I haven't had any issues with the management luckily they've been nothing but sweet and helpful to me :). The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because of the school behind me. Although it is very convenient the kids are very loud and rowdy all year long! And my apartment is facing the school. I can't close my windows because there is no ac so I'm stuck w the noise. The location is awesome and convenient. Walking distance to the beach and shops. I love that!!! The apartments are a bit old but they try hard to keep up with them. My husband and I been living in Shoreline Apartment since 2012, we love living in this apartment because of the location. You can't find anywhere else that close to the beach, close to bus station, close to Safeway, close to post office and close to shopping center. Shoreline apartment also provided the gym room, swimming pool and laundry room, which is a big benefit for every tenant. The management services here are very efficient. Myrna and Ana are always tried their best to help us. Also, I need to give credit of those 2 maintenance guys. Last time, I asked for replace my kitchen ceiling fan, it comes with the light bulb, however the maintenance guy got cut by glass and still helped us to replace the kitchen ceiling fan. You can see that how much they care about their work. My husband and I highly recommended Shoreline Apartment to everyone. read more

Definitely pass on this property. Over-priced, under-repaired and generally shabby. Not sure how someone got a 2br for 1395 there as the 1br costs more than that. Took a quick walk around the property and yuck! buildings in dis-repair, hallway carpets dirty and frankly a bit smelly. I spoke to a few residents as well - funny the management doesn't seem to mention that after your lease is up there is no renewal ever. I imagine this is so that your rent can be raised immediately. Absolutely not worth the price, which is a shame considering the location. Oh well there are other places in Alameda - just stay away from Shoreline Apartments! read more

I must say I'm completely disappointed. After having my place inspected a month before I moved out I received a bill 2 months later with management asking me to pay for a replacement of carpet and to re finish the 30 year old cabinets and repair the counters that were disgusting upon move in. I think I lived in and out of that plays for not even 20 months and was rarely there the carpets were still brand new all they needed was a shampoo around the entryway the front door you cannot distinguish these cabinets is being refinished their disgusting and outdated. The management has yet to return my call I've been trying to get a hold of them for five days as I will be disputing these charges. I don't recommend this complex and I'm disappointed with management to actions. I'm still waiting for a phone call. read more

Nice, quiet place to live. The amenities are decent. The view is spectacular. The management works with the tenants.

I must emphasize this..I try my best to always start with the good and if I can help it unless the review is critical to what i believe is for your utmost interest in making a decision not to post it if it is negative. The view is awesome!!!! Parking used to be the worse but was made a little bit more tolerable after the additional spots made available as the bike lanes were added. However, if you have your one inside space taken it can be very difficult at certain times to get an accessible spot. South Shore strip mall is very close by with moderately OK restaurants, Safeway, Trader Joes, and clothing stores. Public Transport is good and close by. Here are the problems and the one biggest one that should not be taken lightly if you do not want to have your life altered so much that you will want to leave or kill someone!!!! The apartment is 231-A second floor underneath an family with three kids that are so spoiled and so out of control. From 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. they cry, scream at the top of their lungs, run from one end of the the apartment to the other, jump off beds and whatever else they have up there. I hear almost everything because they keep the windows open and the patio. i have never once heard the parents attempts to settle it down no matter what the ages are. I understand young ones are tough but the Leasing managers said they would talk to them and attempt to have them keep the kids in one area at certain times but that never happened. It sounds exactly like a stampede and I am not exaggerating or being overly-dramatic!@!!!! A few other issues comprise the rent. It went up as of June 1, 2015 and it seems like every time the rent goes up so do flyers about what they will not do!!!! Just take a look when and if you even decide to take a look. They will not accept packages, if you are human and make an error by forgetting keys or losing them and getting locked out they will not help you. You must pay for a locksmith over and above the high rent that steal from you!!!! There was a new review posted and the comment was that it was quiet. My observation after living here for awhile is it is mostly because the people are unapproachable, unfriendly, and they are arrogant. They smoke where they want even though there are rules, they leave there supermarket wagons wherever they want, they drive as if no one else lives here. So if you do not mind these issues it is a beautiful beachfront area. But for the price I would ask around and get others opinions and consult with friends who may live in other beach apartments. My 1st floor Studio, at $1295, has been a bargain, considering the two pools, rec room, fitness center, private patio and assigned parking plus the fact that it's right on the water, moments from South Shore Center, and just a few minutes to a stress free ferry ride to the city. Now for the not so good things, assigned parking doesn't make sense, my spot was on the opposite side of the building from where my unit was and wasn't changeable even when I had short term disability, the pools are only 'heated' by sunlight and I'm not talking about solar panels...just sunlight, and the washers/dryers have ruined quite a few pieces of my clothing due to them not being clean or from careless bleach users. But the management has been responsive, polite, and I don't hold anything against them, since they aren't responsible for the rules nor the irresponsible laundry users. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet place to live where a few minutes bike ride will get you anywhere on the island safely and stress free, a wonderfully ornate, old school movie theater and versatile shopping center are centrally located, and multiple coffee houses and a variety of restaurants within easy access. I found the management of this property quite horrible they chased my check then told me they never got it charged me twice for one months rent. If take a tour you will find the gym outdated they will say its going to be updated ( I have lived here 3 years due to the cheap cost allows me to spend money else where). They shut down the parking lot with little to no notice. This left my Neighbors both elderly having to walk 3 blocks after their chemo treatments. I would think a 30 min drive to get your body filled with radiation was bad then to come back and have to walk 3-6 blocks in the summer sun back to your apt with a walker I'm sure made it worse. Its not a bad place as long as you can get past the people. The rooms are nice and big for the price. Over all a bad choice due to the people. read more

This is a great apartment complex and it's only going to be better when the construction is finished. Ana and Myrna and the maintenance staff are always friendly and helpful. I have to move soon because my company is moving and I don't want a long commute, but if it weren't for that, I would definitely stay. read more

The location is wonderful right across the shore. And it is safe to be here. Lots of diversity in the units, I have been here for almost 10 years and not ready to move out. Whenever there is an issue with technical problems or neighbors (rarely), I can talk to staff and they resolve it right away. Although the place is oldish, it is well maintained and kept clean and being renovated. Onsite management is staying on top of things regularly. These are hard working people who are always ready to help. Really. No rent control, that's a big minus, but this has nothing to do with how the place in managed on site. read more

Never make the mistake of moving here if you are planning on staying over one year (or the term of your lease). Rent is raised as soon as your lease is up with no chance of renewal. Rent increases are based on the new move in rate and not based upon any property improvements, which there have been none in at least a decade. Nothing is repaired either, just slap a coat of paint on it and hope no one notices. The "re-glazed" counter surfaces are just wood with paint to look like stone. Oh and by the way if the new move in rate is ever lower than your rent, your rent will NOT decrease. They like to compare their apartments to Shoreline Beach and Tennis Club and state that they are cheaper. Only in terms of the state and condition of the apartments are they cheaper. I bet they have not been inspected for electrical, mold, bugs, structural, etc in quite some time. They are definitely not up to code. There is not even any GFI in bathroom or kitchen. Only plan to stay here until you can find some place else if you have too, but otherwise stay away. read more

This place is probably the worst place I will every live. I haven't lived in very many places and thank god i'm not staying here for very long but the short amount of time I have spent here is the worst experience of my life (so far). First problem here is security, in the first or second week of myself living here, there was 5 cop cars here at once, and when I tried to ask what was happening as a residence of the complex they told me to just move a long. It's not safe here and I don't recommend this residence at all for families or any single individuals. Second problem is how noisy this place is. I get there needs to be work done in the mornings but throughout the day there is constant screaming, yelling and talking till the dark of night. In the mornings there are machines such as leaf blowers, weed cutters, even tree cutting machines! I can deal with screaming and yelling for the most part seeing that I live in a situation now in school where there are children constantly screaming and yelling. But constant noises throughout the day is UNBEARABLE! As I speak, there are people who are cutting a whole pine tree right outside my window and without any warning they do this. And a few weeks before they had noisy and disruptive workers that were painting the whole apartment. There is also a serious plumbing issue, I'm not sure this problem is throughout but it is something worth noting. Point is this place is awful. The only slight positive thing I can say about this place is that it's cheap rent, but seeing how my experience is here is would much rather pay a couple hundred dollars more to live comfortably with out all the pain-staking crap here. read more
