    EL Paseo Roll
    Rhiannon H.

Food was great. Service in the lounge was pretty terrible. I had the deviled eggs, el paseo roll & green chili pork soup. Everything was fantastic, good flavors and portion size. The service just sucked so bad. Initially the bartender came to take our drink order and appetizer order. They were out of the beer my husband wanted. The bartender brought us over a beer that was overflowing & spilling down the sides of the glass. After about 30 minutes passed, someone else came by to see if we "needed anything" but it wasn't clear if our waiters had swapped or what happened - but we still hadn't place our main food order because the bartender never came back after getting our drink order. Our appetizer was nigiri & they brought it out without chopsticks or soy sauce and disappeared for 15 minutes so we couldn't eat it. Overall it was such a weird service experience... But the food was good.

Went here on Christmas Eve and really enjoyed our meal. We came early and started off with happy hour downstairs. The sushi was actually really good, for being a non Japanese place. We went upstairs for dinner and everything was solid. Our favorite of the meal was the chocolate cake. It was warm, gooey and everything you want in a chocolate cake!

Shorebird was everything I wanted it to be and then some. Beautiful decor, stiff drinks, and a stellar menu with some many amazing looking appetizers, raw bar, and mains to choose from. The menu at Shorebird has always been calling to me - I'm a sucker for the classics like deviled eggs and wedge salads but also anything raw like oysters or a solid sushi menu will have me running in. Their mains are also note worthy, from ribeyes, to scallops and risotto - I don't know how you don't come in here and order one of everything. It takes a stellar chef and team to execute such a variety of options and after eating here tonight I can assure you they definitely hit the mark and every bite was fabulous. In true sugar hook fashion, we ordered a lot... I will always start with a Crisp, extra dirty, grey goose martini with blue cheese stuffed olives when it's on the menu. For starters had the: - Loaded Devil Eggs - Wedge Salad with Rotisserie Chicken - Lido Sushi Roll For a main I had to go with their Scallop Dish. * The Lido Roll was one of the best sushi rolls I've had this year. I need this roll on my death bed. Simple in some ways, crab on the inside fresh salmon on the outside, but the heavenly sauce on the outside and the unique seven spiced pineapple on the inside was a game changer * The Butter Based Scallops with mussels, bacon, and a potato chowder sauce was phenomenal. Decadent and awe worthy. I don't get to order scallops often but these made the wait well worth it. When you find yourself in the desert and wanting something elevated but a change from the usual steakhouse and pasta options, Shorebird is a solid choice and I'll definitely be back soon.

This spot is a favorite of mine for a night out with the girls. The food is delicious, the ambiance is inviting, and the service is always top-notch. Cindy, the host is absolutely amazing. She's warm, enthusiastic, and consistently goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Her energy truly adds to the experience. I highly recommend the Jay Bird's Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Balboa Roll, both are packed with flavor. The drinks here are fantastic too, Rolando the bartender is the best, his drink recommendations are always spot-on, and everything he makes is absolutely delicious. Honestly, it's the best I've had on El Paseo. Definitely a go to spot for great food, great vibes, and an all around good time!!

My family and I came here on a Saturday night. We sat downstairs and it can be a bit loud, but it was a fun environment. The food is delicious and the servers are friendly. As a vegetarian, I do wish there were a few more options, but the taco platter is tasty. A good place to bring vacationing friends!

Shorebird offers a comfortable, upscale ambiance and very tasty food with menu options likely to satisfy any type of appetite or craving. We enjoyed crab cakes (done nice and crispy on the outside, as requested) and truly delicious Carne Adovado tacos with guacamole and pico de gallo. Also an excellent house Old Fashioned, AND we got to see the Bears win! This was our third visit and Shorebird has earned its place in our regular restaurant rotation.

Shorebird is a very upscale restaurant with a luxury feel. We got a window seat on the ground floor. We didn't go upstairs, where we were offered. The skirt steaks were done medium rare, as requested. The potatoes are baked, smashed, and quick fried to perfection. Oh, so good. We split the salad, a wedge salad they chopped and split for us. Delicious. I don't get steaks at restaurants often, so I was delighted that it was done as I requested, medium rare. The bread is served on request only, which my mate overheard at the other table. It was very delicious as well. The waiter was super, recommending items off the menu. I asked "this or that" type questions and listened to the responses. He highly recommended the skirt steak.

We decided last minute to come in for happy hour and had one of everything (almost). We had the deviled eggs, the egg rolls, spicy shrimp and one of each roll and carrot cake for dessert. It was all amazing, Nelson was a great bar tender (margarita night). Great service, great food, nice and cool inside and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

We noticed this restaurant whenever we drove by El Paseo and we were excited to try it out. I've seen the restaurant out in the OC and excited to try this location close by. The restaurant had lots of seating. It's two stories and we were seated on the second floor. There were two other rooms we passed that had lots of seating as well. It's nice to know they can accommodate larger parties if they needed to. I do think they need to put some felt pads on the bottom of the chairs. When the guests would pull the chairs out to sit or stand up, it would rub against the floor and cause a high pitch sound that is very unpleasant. Food wise, they had plenty of options to choose from. We got the items listed below: Appetizers: -Hokkaido Scallops: the scallops themselves were cooked really good and the mirin butter glaze added to the flavor. -Kurobuta Pork Belly: the actual pork belly was dry and tough. However the picked apple and yuzu marmalade were a good addition. I think if the pork belly was crispy and not dry it would have tasted better. Main Dish: -Faroe Islands Salmon Mignon: The salmon was so delicious. It was flaky and had so much flavor. I loved the cauliflower rosemary sauce. It really brought the dish together. -Filet Mignon: The steak itself was average. The sauce on top was the real show stopper. Dessert: -Valrhona Chocolate Brownie: It's your typical sundae brownie but I did appreciate the salted caramel sauce and walnuts with it. I would recommend it. All in all, I would go again and try the other dishes they have since they do have a good plethora of different dishes.

Best meal we had in a long time. Went there for an early lunch and noticed the Crab Eggs Benedict on the menu. Decided to give it a try. It was fantastic! The sauces were wonderful, a lot of crab, rosemary potatoes were fantastic! My wife had sushi and it was fresh and flavorful. Can't wait to go back!

    Insane prices.

This place is incredibly expensive, and aggressively mediocre. Rock shrimp appetizer wasn't bad, but $23 for 4 scallops the size of nickels? Scallops were underwhelming, served skewered with wood. The kind of thing you expect at a buffet. My skirt steak was overcooked, my wife's Chilean sea bass was $58 for what looks like a 5oz portion. It was unseasoned. We asked for salt, an empty salt grinder was brought. Had to ask the hostess for another. Fries also unseasoned. Price for 2 apps, 2 enteees and a mock tail - $175. $210 with tip. As a true PD local, I highly doubt this place will be around long. On the positive side, it's nice in there and service is good. $10 for a double Espresso might be the absolute highest price I've ever seen in my life. It's $6 at the Ritz Carlton. Good luck, I will certainly not return.

As any good Yelper would do, after being invited to dinner at Shorebird by a friend I checked out the Yelp reviews. I took the reviews with a grain of salt and went to dinner with ZERO expectations... this way I wouldn't be disappointed. Although some of the reviews complained about service, atmosphere, and food... Shorebird showed-OUT! Literally EXCEEDED my expectations in all areas! Our dinner reservations were for 6:30 PM. We arrived promptly and we're warmly greeted at the door. Our friend who invited us to dinner here was already waiting for us at the bar that was crowded with lots of people enjoying cocktails and conversation. The restaurant was brightly lit and beautifully decorated in light tones, which I prefer. We were led upstairs and out to the exterior patio, which overlooked El Paseo. Sadly, I failed to take a photograph of the beautiful Vista with the street line trees lit up with twinkly lights. We went on to order our cocktails and sashimi. Michael was our waiter and was Knowledgeable of the menu, was able to answer all of our questions, and took great care of us throughout the night. We had not seen our friend for a while and we lingered over dinner, a second round of cocktails, and then dessert and coffee. By the time the check came and we took care of it. We made our way out to find that the restaurant was completely empty and everyone was in "cleanup mode. We had no idea that we had stayed so long and went on to apologize to the staff. Everyone was absolutely kind and reassured us that it was absolutely their pleasure and that we've not been an inconvenience in anyway. Our friends vehicle that had been parked by valet had already been brought around and was parked in front of the restaurant for her. This experience for me was a good example of the need to take all reviews with the proverbial "grain of salt" and then go on to have your own experience. We look forward to coming back in the near future and working our way down the amazing menu.

During our stay there, we used pretty much all of the grounds throughout the weekend. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and the dinner/reception were all held in different areas. Some of our friends played tennis in the morning, and we used the big pool and hot tub as well. The smaller pool was pretty cold as we were there in March, but heating the big pool was definitely worth it for our Saturday, post-wedding pool party. We did not have any issues with the plumbing, it was great having our friends stay with us for the weekend, and again, Thies and Brandon were excellent to work with. Highly recommend this place if you want to make your wedding a weekend affair to remember. Hopefully we can book this for our 10 and 20 year anniversaries. Thanks again.

Monterey Country Club: Community, Class, and Unmatched Value!…read more Joining Monterey Country Club has been one of the smartest decisions I've ever made. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by name and treated like family -- it's that rare blend of warmth, professionalism, and genuine community spirit that makes every visit feel special. A huge shoutout to Bobby and Kaitlyn Ellis, who always go above and beyond to make every day at the club an absolute pleasure, and to Juan, the Membership Sales Manager, whose kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail make him an absolute gem. This staff makes you feel not just welcome, but known -- and that's something truly special. Beyond the incredible service and the beautiful course, membership here also comes with access to the Palmer Advantage program, which is a total game-changer. It opens the door to play at country clubs across the country -- both public and private -- under the Arnold Palmer management umbrella. Most of the clubs I've visited through the program don't charge a green fee at all -- just a cart fee, typically between $15 and $32. That's an unbelievable value, and I've been taking full advantage of it, especially now during the desert's overseeding break! Monterey Country Club isn't just a place to play golf -- it's a community that feels like home. If you're even thinking about joining a club in the Coachella Valley, do yourself a favor and check out Monterey. I promise you won't be disappointed.

The condos/homes are spacious, light & bright with high ceilings and beautiful views of the golf courses... The swimming pools are all nice but kinda small...and the jacuzzi spas aren't hot enough... The gym is very old & outdated in need of a major facelift and better equipment & dumbbells. I've rarely seen a gym I didn't like nor can't deal with until this one. And happy I wasn't forced to workout at this facility... The Clubhouse tho is very nice...and Letty at the front desk is so friendly & welcoming...and sweet as can be... But the star of the show is/was Dennis at the Clubhouse restaurant/bar. Friendly cool dude who know's his stuff, has extensive experience in the restaurant/bar industry, provides amazing & professional service...and he was able to keep up with me while talking about sports :) Had their Ahi Tuna for a pre dinner Appetizer and it was fantastico. The "center-cut ahi tuna" was extremely fresh...and all the flavors of the dish paired very well. They do something with the sauces that's not common -- they use hoisin sauce, instead of sweet eel sauce, and together with their spicy tuna aioli it's a perfect combination. Because IMO, most eel sauces are too sweet & sugary. Compliments to the Head Chef. We intend to comeback one day for brunch because believe it or not, their Lox & Bagel Plate is only $13...and the funny thing is, when we saw that on the menu, wifey & I discussed a return visit in the future...and when we began our conversation with Dennis, discussing their menu, he told us "you need to comeback another day for the $13 Lox & Bagel Plate" and we all had a good laugh about that. My only complaint is they close the Clubhouse restaurant/bar @5pm...and it'd be nice if they stayed open later. Because I'd most defiantly linger to watch a ballgame on one their large flatscreen tv's...and spend more money on food & drinks...and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would. But all & all...Monterey Country Club is a wonderful place, centrally located in the heart of Palm Desert, right on the borderline of Rancho Mirage.

Unfortunately, my recent visit fell far short of the standard one would reasonably expect from an establishment in this category. From the moment I arrived, the service felt disorganized and inattentive. Staff members appeared disengaged, offering little acknowledgment or direction, creating an atmosphere that felt more chaotic than welcoming. Simple requests seemed to be met with confusion or indifference, and at no point did anyone step in to provide the level of hospitality that should define a country club environment. The facilities themselves also left much to be desired. Areas that are typically considered showpieces -- such as the dining room, locker rooms, and outdoor spaces -- showed signs of neglect. Tables were not promptly cleared, chairs were left out of place, and overall cleanliness did not reflect the premium status this club claims to uphold. For the cost of membership and the reputation they promote, these oversights are not minor; they are indicators of deeper issues in management and quality control. Dining was equally underwhelming. The menu felt uninspired, and the dishes lacked both presentation and flavor. Even basic items arrived lukewarm or poorly seasoned, which suggests a lack of attention from the culinary team. For a club that should pride itself on offering an elevated dining experience, this was perhaps the most surprising disappointment of the evening. I do believe this property has tremendous potential, but my experience made it clear that significant improvements in service, training, and operational oversight are needed. I hope management takes these concerns seriously, as members and guests deserve far better.

The last time that we've been it was just for a walk around the garden and the museum area. If you…read morehaven't been, it's beautiful. Free to visit and you can enjoy the cactus garden and wander around the gardens. Museum and gift shop as well as cafe is on sites. But this visit, we took the tour of the Annenberg property. Tour is about 90 min and about 60.00 per person. They do recommend you come a little early to view and enjoy the main building where the cactus garden was but we were a little behind and made it right before the tour started. The tour host 7 person per guided tours. We start off at check in and then met with our guide, Hema. At the beginning you start off on the golf carts where your guide gives you an introduction to the family and the property. The gate into the main residence is around the corner from the public property. It's amazing to see how someone turned a barren desert landscape into an oasis. The brief cart ride to main door was quite nice. A massive golf property hidden in the desert. Once you approached the main property, it's welcomed by a massive water feature. A knock on the double doors lead you into the lobby of the house. Just walking into the property, it's a true MCM oasis. To find out the property only has just the primary bedroom was insane as it was massive. Theres no picture allowed inside but outside was fine. Hema, very detailed in everything she explained was very sweet and detail oriented. Walking through the different rooms and seeing all the amazing things collected by both Walter and Leonore Annenberg was quite interesting. The office which house all of Walter's work, pictures of family, friends and political figures. The different room that's in the main house, their amazing artwork which some are the original pieces. Then you have the way they lived, very elegantly. Each room had their own unique style. The designer and architect sure had their hands full with detail designed of everything on site. The furniture, one of a kind design with amazing embroidery. Walter had an amazing collection of artwork and sculptures. Seeing them throughout the house and the way it was displayed in different room of the house was spectacular. Even the kitchen was nice. Still fully functional as it's still used for summits. The outside alone is one in a million. The massive property with many lakes that is fully stocked for fishing. The golf course which is a golfers heaven. And then you have the pool with a million dollar view of the mountains as the backdrop. Not only the main house, there's the guest house which is utilized for guest. And they're know by different color rooms. And by that, it's fully decorated in the color palette. That building also all looks out to the pool and mountain. Leonore, with her favorite color yellow also had a rose garden designed in the property. The tour lets you inside the lives of the Annenberg and the amazing lives they've lived. Housing major political figures, celebrities and the amazing parties had. The massive art collection and endless photos of everyone, it was a sight to see. This is a tour worth checking out and learning about the Annenberg. Plus, Hema our tour guide was excellent.

The tours were either sold out or had one spot available. There were 2 of us. I would recommend purchasing tickets online before you arrive to Palm Springs because of the popularity of the tours. You cannot purchase tickets by phone, email or in person. There are no waitlists either. We walked among the garden area, visited the small but great gift shop, watched the movie about Sunnylands and viewed the current exhibition. The next time we're in the Palm Springs area I will definitely plan ahead and purchase tickets way in advance.

Soooooo. 5 stars with a caveat. You're gonna pay... and pay.. nothing here is inexpensive. But if…read moreyou have the extra $$ it's worth every penny. So what differentiates this from other Palm Springs area resorts? The service, by far. The property is phenomenal and the upkeep and maintenance is good, on par with other places. For example, at the pool, we found straws from the previous guest, etc. not a deal breaker, but something to observe. But everyone I interacted with genuinely seemed like they wanted us to have a good time. If it was fake, it was very good acting. From the valet to check in, amazing! Javier checked us in. 7 out of 5. Stress free. The pool area, 8 out of 5. Off the charts. Attention management: I stay at a lot of hotels and resorts. And though I'm sometimes overly generous with my ratings, I can honestly say Dru is the best server I've had, ever. She should run the joint! I wish I could give her a raise. Evan was pretty bad ass too and should be commended! Will I be back? 100 percent. Amazing property, rooms are great, staff is awesome. Food is good, but avoid the breakfast buffet at Rockwood. $40 for powdered eggs is no bueno! Other than that, you'll love it here!

The staff was attentive, and everything felt well organized. We had dinner at Aquifer65 & JW Sushi Bar one night, and it was fantastic. We also enjoyed dinner at Mikado Japanese Steakhouse, where the hibachi experience was both entertaining and delicious. The rooms are a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the property, but the overall experience more than makes up for it. The pools, grounds, and amenities make this a great place to spend a long weekend. I'd definitely recommend staying here--just be prepared if you're visiting in the summer. The 104-degree desert heat is no joke, so plan on spending plenty of time in the pool and staying hydrated!

We were invited by a friend to this so call private golf club to eat. There were literally teenagers working there. The way they dress, talk and no ideas on working in a restaurant or even hospitality. Food presentation was awful and the taste was dried and salty. They never came out to see what we needed. As a customer we had to constantly tell them what to do for all the basic that they should have been trained in. We order coffee. A cup was of coffee was brought out. Where is the creamer. Then creamer was brought out. Can we get a spoon to stir please. Constant back and forth. No self awareness of what is needed on the table or what goes with what. We can hear them laughing aloud in the restaurant as there were only 2 tables with customers including us. We heard recently there was a change of the executive chef, that did not help in quality of the food. But i think they need to re-evaluate the restaurant management and its priority. It appears this club and restaurant services senior people with money, and being private club on a Friday and in Pauma Valley with no nearby restaurants , except for some decent ones in the casinos, they settle for this restaurant. Truly my last time here and will let people know. Hire cooks and service people that want to be in the hospitality business. Not teenagers.
