Residents on the island seem to love 'Shore Good Donuts', I ordered one dozen chocolate frosted donuts, the donuts themselves have a crunchy-ish dough, not as smooth as Dunkin', but the chocolate frosting is incredible, the taste is 10x better than others like Dunkin'. Donuts...the circle(s) of life, except when I went. This is where donuts go to die. After an enjoyable Sunday afternoon on the beach, my girlfriend and I had a donut craving. Our first thought was Fractured Prune, but that's like an hour away, so hey look, a local donut joint with fresh made donuts! You know those hot crisp-on-the-outside, gooey on the inside, Cakey ecstasy? Well this is ain't it. Apparently, this place and I have different definitions of what "fresh made" really means. You see, when Shore Good Donuts advertises on the sign outside and on their website (I checked) "fresh made donuts", I think fresh out of the oil. Well upon walking in I should've known the foot-high donuts pyramid and the end of the conveyor belt probably the freshest, but donut crazed craving prevailed! Whatever, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they'll make us a fresh batch. Mmm....nope pulling from the stack. Maybe they are really hot and fresh. Nope. Anyway, we got a half-dozen assorted: Almond, Maple Bacon, Strawberry and Chocolate Sprinkles, Inside Out Jelly, Boston Cream, and Blueberry Crumb. (Recalling off the top of my head because it was such a traumatic experience but I may be slightly off.) Excitement never so quickly gave way to disappointment: Cold donuts. Now the toppings were warmish, but the inside was cold like store bought donuts. I liked the almond topping but maybe it was just the one donut? No, after bites of other donuts, all cold. So I think, "That's it, I'm returning these and going back in for them to remake it." The first cashier was gracious enough to accept my complaint. (It's not comfortable for anyone really.) Me: My donuts were cold. Cashier: They were warm when I served them. Me: No, they're cold. Cashier: Okay, let me get my Manager. Me: Absolutely, I understand. Manager: Donuts were fresh. Me: You're pulling them from a stack. They're not fresh made. They're supposed to be warm. Manager: Yeah, they're still warm. I'll give you new ones but for you but just this once. (Manager then pulls from same donut pyramid as before.) Me: Grrr... So I go away with my new donuts....aaaaaand they're room temperature. Whatever. I tried the a few bites. The jelly donut tasted like soap. Without the will to go in again and argue, I read up the owners' story. Ship Bottom is the original location of a couple of plumbers that took a risk and opened a donut shop. I love stories like that. I'm not usually a fan of donuts but these are just so delicious. the donuts are made fresh so they're so warm and the glaze is basically melting off of them. My favorite one was the cookies and cream donut. I came to LBI for a family vacation and this was definitely a memorable spot. We made sure to get donuts before we headed back home to Maryland. If you get a chance, I would definitely recommend getting a donut from here. And make sure to eat it when it's fresh and warm! read more

I honestly don't see what the hype is about with this donut place. The donuts are small and very dry (and I love old fashion donuts). They have a lot of flavors to choose from, but they use literally the same donut base for all of them. So its basically a dry donut with a bunch of diff flavored toppings on them. And, TL:DR at bottom ;] Made the venture out to LBI to pay a visit, on the word of some amazing donuts. The menu is loaded with about a dozen donuts, priced to move! They will also make nearly any type of donut they have ingredients for as well. So, I decided to get about 6 different flavors, a solid dozen, so 2 of each. They made me a double chocolate on request, i love those, as well as a boston creme, some coconut one, vanilla type and a jelly or 2. It's hard to remember all the flavors, because once i bit into that double chocolate donut, I forgot who i was for a minute. I wound up sitting outside contemplating the universe and hoping other civilizations have such a splendid treat. I would definitely head out there again, and suggest you give them a try if you have not already, if only to see their donut making machine! Also, staff were very friendly and helpful. They were patient with my slow ass, as I was trying to fill an order. TL:DR - Excellent donuts, wide selection, great service, cool shop.
