I'm in town for a conference and needed a more comfortable pair of shoes. This mall is super convenient, being just above the Riverwalk/down the street and steps from my hotel. I found a Finish Line, Footlocker, and Champs, and after I bought the shoes stopped in Victoria's Secret and browsed at a few other shops before stopping at their small but efficient food court. I got a reasonably priced salad and also saw pizza that looked good being made, and a Which Witch for sandwiches. They have a movie theater too. And a Rainbow, which I've never been to in person. Great prices and I got some cute casual clothes. They also have an H&M and a Starbucks. And stuff for kids. This whole mall is great! Will definitely come back if I have time.

I got SO turned around here looking for Yard House. I somehow managed to go onto another floor at one point. Eventually, the venue I was meeting folks at got changed to Ruth Chris, so I had to weave myself out of the shops. The good news is I got a tour of all the options. The mall is pretty dated and could use a refresh. Lots of closed shops too. But a good location for sure.

Not the best tourist hub. As much as I love the River, the Shops themselves have always been a little disappointing. While there are a few touristy businesses interspersed throughout the mall, a lot of the businesses are restaurants or chains you can find everywhere. Inside is just a regular more lackluster mall. Outside it has the River to lend itself and make it look more interesting: there will be massive seasonal decor set up in the plaza when the heat won't melt everything, local bands sometimes playing, and River taxis shuttling tourists through so they can see the sights, making things seem a lot more busy and festive than it truly is. You can skip the Shops and not miss anything. There's so much to see elsewhere downtown, so don't take up too much of your time here if you decide to visit!

I come here to park in the garage and walk around the Riverwalk. I like parking in garages since this Texas heat is a scorcher. I'm sure there are plenty of garages that may be cheaper, but this one has always been my go to. This mall does have things to keep the littles busy and the fact it has different things to offer is a plus! An aquarium, Legoland , dinosaur exhibit etc. I like that it also has restaurants inside, because the thought of having to walk or drive somewhere else did not sound fun.

Last visited: Dec' 23, two days after X-Mas. The River Walk is like a waking dream, it is well architected and designed I will have to say. Especially if you visit around Christmas time. The lights and backlighting around the overhanging trees is simply a sight to behold. Well done. The sheer amount of choice of restaurants and venues around the Rivercenter, is simply unbelievable. I did not walk the whole of the board walk to see all the shops as I ran out of time, but what impressed me is how many shops they have here, of so many different types of food, ice cream, and other stuff for sale. However. There are a few points that prohibit this from being a five-star experience. - The people and rather passerby here are unkind to me and to others in general. They are too wrapped up in their world to care about anyone else. - At the time we came, around 9pm, most shops were closing and quoted a wait time of over an hour, sometimes an hour and half of wait. We had to choose one restaurant which had a reasonable wait time, but it is unfortunate that we were limited in selection of place to eat dinner at, so am rating down for the minus in experience. All in all, there are a remarkable amount of selection in shops at the river center or rather river walk area in San Antonio (SA/TX), however oft times shops are busy and the selection will actually be severely limited. Also, the people here are unkind to others and need to loosen up. However, I'll give that a pass as the river walk and boat tour itself is mildly interesting and worth it at the least.

Not a huge "mall," but there were some options for shopping, dining and entertainment. Located by the Riverwalk and not too far from the Alamo. Didn't look like there is much parking - unless there was a garage. I stayed at a nearby hotel so I just walked over. I wasn't looking for anything in particular. I visited the H&M - it was actually clean and organized. I picked up a few things. I noticed there was a movie theater here and I'm guessing folks were headed to see the Barbie movie. I did see alot of pink outfits. You can take a river cruise from here!

There is also a great Lego store, Barnes and Noble, and plenty of good food choices. The worst part of La Cantera is that half of the people who go here seem like they are on their first week on Earth and do not know what they are doing. I love people who walk four in a row and block entire walkways, or people who stop randomly in the middle of the path to look at something. You make my life so miserable. Parking is also pretty insane if you are trying to park up close, but if you have patience, anything is possible. Be careful of the reckless drivers who have no courtesy for anything but themselves. The layout of the mall is pretty nice. Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom Rack have some higher price tag shops surrounding them, while Dillard's and Macy's have more affordable stores nearby. Across the street from the main hub is additional shopping with Zara, J.Crew, J.Jill, Free People, H&M, and most of the dining options, including Perry's, Grimaldi's, Yard House, Palenque Grill, Cheesecake Factory, and more. When the weather is nice and it is not scorching hot, The Shops are a great place to visit in San Antonio. Even when it is hot, there is plenty of shade and air conditioning to help make it less miserable. RIYL: Shopping around some of the most unaware people to ever exist.

The street that I remember driving in front of the Alamo many years ago is now non-existent! I am really digging the Alamo Plaza, though. From what I understand, the plan is to make it entirely pedestrian-friendly - no more vehicular traffic. Thus, much of the surrounding area is still under construction, but most areas in front of the Alamo are safe. This plaza is not the same as the Plaza de Valero, which is in front of Menger Hotel. Just ensure to wear loose, breathable clothing and drink plenty of water on the really warm to hot Texas days... a young lady in a tour group I was in passed out and hit her head on the concrete of the plaza. While the Alamo itself is rich in history, I prefer people-watching myself. And boy howdy, is there people watching here! While on my visit, I was enjoying a dish of ice cream, curtesy of one of the shops along the street, when I was able to get my fix of religion. There was a street preacher, or perhaps someone who just wanted to be a street preacher, yelling out scripture and nonsense. It didn't take long for him to be escorted to the end of the street by the police officers who where there patrolling on their bikes. Too bad, I was ready to repent and convert. The plaza provides lots of shade with several large trees and a little bit of seating on benches and concrete walls surrounding the landscape. Most of the shops along the street are geared toward tourists (souvenir shops, overpriced oddity museums and some eateries.) It's worth a visit for a while, but you might find better, less expensive options, a few blocks away.

I do not like to collect anything and only purchase items that have a purpose. So this shopping setup goes against everything I usually gravitate toward. However, when on vacation I do like to get a taste of the local fare and perhaps grab a little something to remember my visit. Near where we were staying is the Market Square-an indoor/outdoor market boasting brightly colored, cheaply made and mostly imported items. There are lots of people, upbeat music and an energy that lures you in. Here, you can find a variety of articles of clothing, hats and shot glasses. I was looking for something that I could take to my son-something practical-ish that I wouldn't mind seeing around the house. We visited three separate times (it was a stop on our tour bus), but each time I left empty handed. The hours are a bit limited-they open at ten (or a bit after, really) and close at 4pm. There are restaurants sprinkled throughout, which might draw more people than the actual market. I would have liked to see some more high-quality, artisan made items rather than so many cheap things that were mass produced. Or more "consumable" items such as soaps, candles, candies, etc. But if you're looking for a souvenir without having to spend a lot of money, you just may find something here.

Well, the Marketplace is a tiny taste of Mexico, and thankfully, I don't have to drive all the way to the Motherland to find some great souvenirs. You'll find all kinds of curios, pottery, marble chess sets, wooden toys...no shortage of fun gifts. I loved showing my kids all the wonderful artisans since we no longer visit Mexico on a regular basis.
