It was a strange time. Since then, retailers have learned what works in a brick and mortar and what doesn't on. Most shopping centers bounced back, even if it was often with different types of shops. I'm really not sure what is going on here. The food court only had a few options open and so many empty booths. The mall itself was just dead and most of the people I saw coming and going were patrons of the crunch fitness. I thought perhaps it could have been the time of day that I visited, but it was incredibly busy outside, so I doubt it. Being a historic landmark, I really hope they figure out how to reconfigure this mall and increase business soon.

It had a few of the stores we were interested in such as Coach, Lululemon, Nike Factory and Abercrombie and Fitch, Vera Bradley, Kate Spade. There is a food court with seating as well as food truck court (didn't look open on that Monday). We did find some merchandise not seen in other stores and some good deals. Service was friendly and efficient. It was a nice break.

There is plenty of parking with a decent amount of space to move around, and easy to locate the entrances. The mall itself is pretty big, with decent selections of stores to choose from. Most of the stores found are your typical retail stores, as JCPenney is still open and running. I was a bit surprised to see FYE still in operation, which didn't have a big sign indicating it was closing. In the mall's condition, it is nowhere close to becoming a dead mall anytime soon. The only thing I found a bit of a surprise is, that the food court is tiny not providing a lot of services. That also includes limited tables which is another spark. Who knows if it downsized over time or not. The only store that's connected, but isn't accessible to the mall hallway is Home Goods. With that, Viewmont has it all.

This mall still has an Orange Julius, which honestly makes it superior (Hence the four star…read moreminimum). What's the point of going to the mall if you can't get the drink of the Gods? I was getting different sizes/colors for my mom and grandmother in the fitting rooms and putting back clothes. I overheard remarks from one of your workers, and her also saying that we were spending so much time in the fitting rooms, were making a huge mess and leaving her to clean it up, and that we would not be able to afford everything we were getting. This was not only hurtful but entirely unfounded, as we were respectful customers and neatly put back everything we tried on. The worker's remarks were overheard by another individual, who said, "I don't care, at least they're spending money." While we appreciate the sentiment of valuing customers, it was disheartening to feel dismissed and devalued in such a manner. As loyal customers, we were taken aback by this behavior and felt deeply disheartened by the lack of professionalism displayed. We believe that every customer should be treated with respect and kindness, regardless of the circumstances. We saw her side eyeing us and looking us up and down as we were being checked out, and she even had the audacity to come over to our cash register to try to hear the total. Thank you to the kind worker who was checking us out, for she realized what was happening and said our total quieter. I also wanted to say that I pay YOUR bills with the money I spend at your store. You should treat everyone with utmost respect, no matter what they spend, or how much money they have. I wanted to bring this incident to your attention in the hopes that it will be addressed appropriately. We value the J.Crew brand and the quality of your products, but incidents like this can greatly impact the overall shopping experience. We hope that steps will be taken to ensure that all customers are treated with the utmost care and consideration in the future.

The discounts range from 20% off up to 60% off. The stuff here is absolutely amazing the first day that I came here I needed to get a cardigan for an upcoming trip to Washington DC when I arrived at the J.Crew a very friendly employee greeted me and asked me if she could help me I told her that I needed to purchase a cardigan for my trip and I cannot find any store around the area that has any cardigans in stock she told me that she didn't know if they had any cardigan stock but she was going to check for me. She ended up coming back with a medium cardigan and it was a perfect fit I was so happy she asked me if I wanted to try it on but I told her no I will take it she brought it up to the front register for me and told the girl at the register that I would be purchasing this. As I was leaving the store she said I hope that you have a good day the staff was extremely friendly and they look happy to be working at this location. Overall this J.Crew has everything that the J crews New York City have. What sets this J.Crew part is that they have a lot of discounts because they are factory store. The former Bon-Ton and Sears remain vacant, with Macy's also leaving in early 2025. Two major power outages also greatly affected the mall in 2025. What's left? The former Sears wing is largely vacant except for the H&M with the Macy's wing being not far behind. Both wings were cold during my visit and I'm not sure how much heat is being supplied. The JCPenney wing remains almost fully occupied with stores including American Eagle, Bath & Body Works, Maurices, and Shoe Dept. Encore among others. Food wise, Cinnabon keeps center court busy, with Auntie Anne's and Dino's remaining, but the food court is totally empty. One of the major problems is the clear lack of ownership investing in the mall. Kohan, followed by current owner's 4th Dimension Properties have not fixed the ring roads. Buckets can be found collecting water at center court and several other places in the mall, with the center court leaks being a problem for several years. The situation here will not get better. At one point not that long ago, this was the best mall in Northeast Pennsylvania. Now it's hard to justify coming here, except for the external facing Royal House Buffet. There's no word if MotorWorld will continue its project to move car dealerships here, but anything at this point would be an improvement.

I had to buy a gift while in town and had a 15% off email coupon as well, so it was time to spend a few bucks and get good deals on clothing and merchandise. The cashiers were helpful and scanned in a coupon for me when I showed them the screen. This store is huge and has two floors of just about everything. The mall has been kept alive by Boscov's all these years and it's a great place to shop. The mall, maybe not so much. At least there's free 3 hour validated parking in the underground garage with an elevator and escalator directly into the store.

I…read moredon't normally do warehouse sales due to crazy crowds and people who will smack you with their bags, but $200 Boden dresses for $30 will get me up early in the AM. Boden knows how to do a warehouse sale. We only arrived 15 minutes beforehand, trying to cut down our waiting outside in the cold time, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that the waiting space was INSIDE! 500 or so folks were already in line, and they could have easily accommodated another 500 inside before folks would have had to endure the cold. Once they opened, they had incredible crowd control. Being at the back of the line, we waited another 15 or 20 minutes before they released us into the sale (they were counting to try to keep down the beatings). There was still PLENTY to look at. For the price of one dress on clearance on their website (about 50% off the original price), I bought two dresses, a skirt, a shirt, and a pair of pants for my husband. So the prices were definitely even better than normal web clearance. They also had a dressing room area set up for the women - a big curtain draped area with mirrors. Yes, a few more mirrors would have been nice, but having a dressing area at all is a major perk! Easy to get to from I-476 or I-81, it's an easy stop. They do a majority of their warehouse sales off site, but having the large space makes life easier. Just remember you own bag - you could either buy a reusable bag from them, or take a trash bag.

She wanted to know why? ( why should that matter?) I started a new chemo cancer treatment last week and had a dermatology appt in town and figured while I'm out I'll shop for my grandsons birthday. So I explained that to her, not that it was any of her business, she said judging as if she would know better than I do what I need to be doing..."should you be out?" I stated "well sh&t still needs to get done!" She then started in on ,"well I've had cancer , I know!" I'm sorry unless you are debilitated with fatigue and just wanna try to feel normal for a few hours before you need your 5 hour nap don't tell me you know or you wouldn't have been so rude and disrespectful to someone who is sick.
