Why is it that their deli meat goes bad after 3 days? This has happened to me repeatedly. I brought a half pound of Butterball turkey on Sunday and when I went make myself a sandwich on Wednesday it had already gone off. I looked at the label and it said "sell by July 28" which is the same date they sold it to me. I get deli meat from another store and never have this problem. Prices are outrageous and who can afford to throw out $10 worth of meat after 3 day. I like this store but I will never buy deli meat there again. read more

Shoprite of Berlin, while being a good store, and one a very few in this area, carries poor produce. Lettuce, apples, mushrooms, bananas, you name it, the produce is not fresh. Prices are out of sync with the area as well. We all know food has gone up, but ShopRite tends to take extra advantage of that trend. With a super Walmart across the street, one would expect the competition to make a difference in prices. The only difference is that ShopRite is frequently many price points higher than Walmart. While ShopRite is ok, it could be much better. read more

10/28/2022 @ 10:34AM The woman working in self checkout made me feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable!! ! They literally stared at me the entire time that I was scanning my groceries, literally 5 feet away !!! After scanning my two half gallon egg nogs I put them on the weigh station(one at a time), one employee came over and put a sticker on it ( not sure why because it was going in my bag at the end!! My bags were in the cart so I know that she saw them!) and I saw her looking at the screen to check if both were scanned! Wouldn't the computer alert them if the weight was off?! The other employee came over during this and moved my bags in my cart to get a bottle of soy sauce that was hiding underneath(which I would have seen once I moved my bags to bag my groceries!) I don't appreciate be hounded or treated like a thief!! I understand the need to be a little more observant due to a large number of people stealing nowadays, but they are too much!! This is not the first time this has happened to me at this location!! If this happens again, I won't be so courteous with my reaction to them hovering over my shoulder and touching my things. read more

Ok so, GROSS!!! We were in that store this past Saturday and an awful odor was coming from, well, we couldn't tell.... The Seafood or the Butcher area, but it was horrible and honestly it was utterly nauseating! I said something to the cashier who mentioned it to the girl up front who said "A Lady brought back bad chicken earlier." Wow! What an answer. So 3 days later my Sister is shopping in there and said the odor is so bad that her and another customer were commenting about it. My sister said it smelled like an animal died in the air ducts!! i just want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Nancy in the Florist department. Nancy went above and beyond her job helping me with decisions on floral arrangements for my daughters Bridal Shower on 8/26. I brought the vases in and she did an amazing floral arrangement, they were absolutely beautiful and I received so many compliments of how gorgeous they were. they lasted beyond 2 weeks. she had patience and was extremely knowledgeable about the flowers I inquired abou. Wondering what happened to what used to be a great store. The decision to do away with half the checkout lanes for self serve is ridiculous. If I wanted to work at your store I'd fill out an application. But it seems par for the course as the deli is always short staffed and lately even the ac in the store seems to be set on penny pinching. It's not the folks that work there as they are nothing but great. But whoever owns/runs this spot is leading it quickly downhill. read more

I fell here in the wet bathroom. Messed my knee up. I tried contacting the managers many times and they NEVER got back to me. Just stoppec in noe because I clipped a digital coupon for cat food. Shop rite is a really nice discount supermarket. They have great prices and delicious fresh food. The bakery goods are my favorites. They have the best bread and cake at very reasonable prices. Everyone should shop here. You will be happy. read more

This is purely for the bakery. I work near by in Berlin, so once in awhile I stop here for groceries due to convenience on my commute. The bakery always smells amazing, like a tease, right at the front door. I decided I would bring the cupcakes to my goddaughter's 3rd birthday, I also decided I was not up to the challenge of a rainbow frosted cupcake I saw on Pinterest. So I took the picture in and the girl took my order Thursday, for pickup on Saturday. For some reason I was hesitant that how she wrote it down would not be clear to whomever got the order to bake, but when I came in they looked perfect! Since they were for a "Trolls" party, I ordered Trolls cupcake ring toppers from Amazon ahead, brought them in, and the girl behind the counter helped me top em off right there on the spot. Even the cupcake holder that they put them in before the box was sturdy and kept them safe. "Icing on the cake"? Pricing was SUPER reasonable. I got 24 cupcakes for $13 and change. While I was picking up, I happened to notice a few people with these containers of apple cider donuts...to keep it short and simple, i decided to bring them home as a treat to my parents, not expecting anything. But they were AMAZING. i took a bite and then I ate the WHOLE donut. Which I am not one to do that bc nothing is really THAT good. But these freaking were. Even my Dad said so and he had multiples by lunch! read more

This store is always super busy. I don't know if that's because of the size of the store making it seem crowded, or because I'm going on busy days, or just because it actually is constantly crowded. I've been living in the area about nine months, and the first thing I noticed is this store appears to host a lot of community events, which is great if you're interested in that kind of thing. Not so great if you're just trying to buy your groceries and there's a line of kids trick or treating in front of the produce you want to get. But I don't fault them for this - community building important. Besides the lively but dated paintings of personified food, I really appreciate the convenience case at the front - filled with milk and eggs and other necessities usually on the other side of the store. This location has a children's area and also a small liquor shop, which are both great added conveniences. There is free WiFi as well, which is nice because there isn't much cell reception in the building. I find that the employees are very helpful and the store is well cared for. Not spotless, but definitely cared for. I will say that by far my biggest annoyance here is the entryway. Much like the Marlton store, it's narrow, crowded, and stuffed with cardboard displays and shopping carts (a necessity, but the area is still short on space). The entryway is enclosed, entered and exited on opposite sides of the parking area, and the doors to the store itself are super narrow. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons why this can't be addressed, but I would honestly be more inclined to shop here if I didn't have to fight to get in and out. read more

Unlike most people, I actually enjoy food shopping. I take my time, read labels, compare prices, crafting recipes and menus as I push my cart. This place really makes it hard for me to indulge in these weird habits; it's packed and its employees are extremely oblivious. You should know that I've worked in grocery stores. And although my time was spent in the catering and prepared food sections, I've filled in for other departments and never acted like there was a job that wasn't mine. That's because you're viewed as a whole by anyone coming in to shop, and you give your best efforts and act on your best behavior until you leave that parking lot. Maybe Shoprite of Berlin never wrote that memo to their staff. The employees here, save a few nice cashiers, are mostly rude and careless. They leave empty boxes in the aisle. They have vulgar conversations. They ignore you. It's just so close to my house and the prices are so cheap, for the most part, that I find it hard to refuse. They've made mediocre attempts to highten their appeal with a wokery and sushi bar, an "upscale" cheese case, a Mediterranean olive and condiment bar and liquor store. This place is absolutely a one-stop shop, it just might take you a lot of time and patience to maneuver around. read more

I've been in a lot of Shoprite's here in South Jersey and I have yet to find one that is as good as this. The bakery is better than some free standing bake shops! The lay out is what kept it from getting that 5th star. The rows are not even so you have to walk a bit of a maze to find things. The frozen section is located near the dairy which is great but almost never happens! This is not the closest to me but I will remember them for my future cake needs. read more

This is definitely the best Shoprite that I have been to. It can get very crowded on the weekends, so I usually go at night and it is empty, which is great because I enjoy shopping and can browse around. This store has a great fresh seafood section. They have a large produce section and sell the best corn in the world from Stella's local farm when it is in season. They have a nice deli with a salad bar, olive bar, and chinese food/sushi section. They also have a pretty decent selection of upscale cheeses. The employees have always been pleasant and helpful when I needed assistance. Check this store out if you're in the area for sure! read more

Another terrible experience at the West Berlin Shoprite. As a result of the pandemic, I bring my own bags and do self check out. Once again I was harrassed by staff while checking out. They are constantly getting in your space and questioning what you are doing with your bags. They are treating me like I am trying to steal something. I spend hundreds of dollars at this store each week! This will be the last time I go to this store. Going forward I will drive out of my way to go to another supermarket. read more

This is definitely the best Shoprite around, and living around south jersey my entire life, I've been to pretty much all the ones around this area. It is very large and clean inside. The food prepared by the deli is way better than what you get at other shoprites, which sounds strange since you'd think they're all the same, but no. Their potato salad is a fond memory of my very early childhood when I lived in Berlin, and I miss it a lot now in my vegan days. My mom makes special trips there still to get it for bbq's and there are at least five closer shoprites than this one. They have all that you could need selection wise, plus a wine store inside. I don't know of any other shoprite in the area that has alcohol as well. They're not 24 hours, have a play area for kids to be watched, and have an ample hot food bar with all kinds of cuisine - from Chinese to soup/salad. Simply - it's a shoprite above the rest. read more

My go to place for groceries. It gets extremely crowded here on weekends, and holidays. They have a lot of staff to help you out, and baggers to bag your groceries and help you to the car if you have a large order. read more

The aisles are way too small and always over crowded. They are constantly stocking the shelves during their busiest times making it difficult to shop. If you are lucky enough to find someone not consumed in personal conversation or antics, they don't know enough about their own store to help you. They only have 2 cart returns and opposite, extreme ends of the parking lot. The customer service and customer feelign is terrible. Their prices are low and they are close to home so if I am on a short trip I got there. Otherwise, I'll shop anywhere but there. read more

The food selection is good and prices are ok, but it always annoys me that there are grocery carts all over the Place in the parking lot making it difficult to park. The reason is that you can't find a cart return as there are no visible indicators. It would be nice if they had 8-10 foot flags that clearly indicated the cart return location. read more

This Shop Rite is pretty decent. The only time I find I can't get certain items is on Sundays when the new sales begin. Staff is courteous and for sometime now there have been customer service people walking around the store helping shoppers find stuff and answering questions. Floral department is awesome -- very creative and friendly designers! The bakery offers much more now than it ever has. The basics are good, but the trendier stuff, like red velvet, leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Best Shoprite around, my neighborhood one in Hammonton is the pits. However, you have to be in the mood for crowds and the old school layout. It feels like it hasn't been renovated since the 80's. It's worth all the negatives. The prepared food section is yummy and they added seating. The selections are far more abundant. The employees seem happy and are very helpful. That's a big deal. It just makes it nicer to step through the doors. They even have a room for the kids with an employee who looks very capable and happy to be there. The cashiers are friendly and even tell you about promos and discounts from your bonus card. Like the time we got a free turkey for Thanksgiving with our bonus points. Our neighborhood one never mentioned it once. read more

Came in tonight for a handful of items. One was a steak for dinner that night. Either I placed something on the bar code or it was damaged prior. As it would not scan as a result of the bar code damage the girl bagging ran to the meat department. Thinking she was getting a new label, I was wrong. She picked out a close but less quality cut and weight steak. I have no idea why they just couldn't ring it up as the price was readable. Zallies Shop Rite of Berlin catered an event I hosted and I could not be more pleased. Lori the Catering contact was professional and accommodating. Delivery was on time and exactly what I wanted. Presentation was beautiful and I have received numerous complements on the food. The pita sandwiches were delicious, the finger sandwiches perfect in size and the Med. Grilled Chicken was the favorite. The condiments, pickles and olives were a added surprise. I also ordered a cupcake pull apart cake in the shape of an anchor. This cake design far exceeded my expectations! I know the cakes are good there so I wasn't concerned about the flavor but the design-Awesome! People are still talking about it. Great shoprite selection, they have the best sushi Dept. You can always find a great deal for dinner.

This location is a bit larger than some of the others. It's a little more run down looking but that's not really an issue. They're usually well stocked and they're the only ShopRite in the area that I know of that has their own liquor store inside. They offer pretty good values so if I'm trying to save money on groceries, I might come here. The quality of the food is usually OK but it's still hit or miss. The last time I was there, I picked up some provolone cheese from the center isle display by the deli. Several of the cheeses at the front of the display were past their expiration dates and visibly covered with bluish-green mold spots. I saw it as soon as I walked up. I've had similar issues at ShopRite of Medford, which I described in a separate review of that location. Nobody should have to constantly check every item at a grocery store to see if it's even edible before buying it. It's a waste of gas for customers to drive back to the store for a refund and it's a waste of money if they don't. More importantly, if someone were to consume expired foods without knowing it, it could make them sick. read more
