Got a confirmation of purchase with no idea of date gun will be available and no one answers the phone like ever. We have been going to this shooting range very frequently since we bought our pistol in December - @ 2-3 times per month. And we have been very pleased - very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous staff. We bought supplies and we have been considering buying our next pistol from them. We were so excited to go on the 24th of March for the Customer Appreciation Day, buying the family membership and taking the CCW Class with them - until the experience we had today. Absolutely awful. Since we started, we have been aware of the policies of damage to the ceiling tiles and the hanger ($50 each). Apparently today, the hanger on our lane was skimmed by a bullet, which scraped off the red paint - and we were charged $50. FIFTY DOLLARS for a 2 second job of the employee spraying the paint to cover the scrape. There was no damage done to the hanger, just a scrape of paint. Had we damaged the hanger, we would understand the charge but a spot with a scrape of red paint??? The thing is, we were honestly shooting low today and don't even know how it happened. No shots were ever fired that high. We definitely would've checked the hanger before we started, if we had known that scraped paint that is repaired within seconds would cost us $50. Not even a warning or a first offense cost of $10 - but $50 flat out. What an ignorant way to treat loyal customers. And the staff was quite rude about it, such a surprise from the people we've previously been pleased with. Many times we've come in and the cardboard has been tattered and torn, barely able to tape the targets to it, but we've never complained - not once. But you can believe that we WILL be complaining now - we will let everyone we know (MANY shooters) not to waste their time or money with Shooters Choice because of this ridiculous policy. THEY POINTED MY OWN SHOTGUN IN MY FACE, THEN NONCHALANTLY DISMISSED MY CONCERN. I brought a shotgun in to see about doing a consignment, and the first thing that the employee I was talking to did was pull the shotgun out of its case and sweep the barrel of my gun 2 inches in front of my face, nearly smacking my face with the end of the barrel. A second employee who was standing nearby then casually dismissed that his coworker POINTED MY GUN AT ME, by saying "I don't think he really meant it", as though that magically un-pointed a 12 gauge shotgun in my face. This gun shop is staffed by people who are highly irresponsible, and shouldn't be around guns in the first place. I've been to this shop multiple times in the past, and thought it was a decent business, but I'll never come back after this. read more

Shooter's Choice - Gun/Rifle Ranges Near Me - Dover, Delaware

On the weekend the clerks were very helpful and could not do enough to educate me about gun laws and types of guns which would be right for my situation. During the week, however, the clerks I encountered didn't seem to care whether I was shopping there or not. I felt as if I was imposing on them, so don't expect the red carpet on weekdays. I will purchase my arms and supplies on the weekend in the hopes they are paid on commission. Also it is very irritating that no one answers the phone when I call to get specific information not included on their website. There are no prompts to be routed to an operator or option to leave a message. Frustrating! read more

A bit of a haul to get here from our house in Newark, DE but worth it. Nice staff, very safety conscious. Make sure you take a basic gun safety course, as you will not be shooting unless you can pass a basic safety quiz. They'll then put your name on file. Separate your ammo from your firearms, and make sure your gun has a holster or case. Eyes and ears are available to use if desired. Cost is CHEAP. $20 for the entire time you're there. read more

After walking in to buy a box of ammo I waited for the gentlemen to finish with a customer ahead of me and a phone call it was finally my turn. He tells me I need to be on the list due to COVID-19. He literally could have reached 3 feet behind him grabbed a box and made a sale. He decided he would rather make customers sit in the car and wait for a single box of cartridges. Positives - Great inventory, mostly knowledgeable staff, and in house range. Negatives - My experience has gone like this. Purchased pistol on Saturday. They forgot to collect my payment for shipping and insurance to MD. They did not call to tell me. Monday I contact them to get tracking information and was informed of them not collecting the shipping, so it has not been shipped, which I then paid. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday no tracking info provided. After I contact them yesterday I am informed there was an issue with obtaining my FFLs information as they are closed Mon-Wed, but I get the tracking information. I find out FedEx picked up, but it does not show pick up by FedEx via tracking. This AM, FedEx tracking shows the pick up and its in NJ, but special delivery instructions state deliver weekdays only, even though it was sent priority overnight. Its scheduled for delivery Monday, but my FFL is closed M-W, so they will receive it Thursday. Long story short, lots of inventory and mostly knowledgeable staff, but you will get it when you get it if you live out of state and YOU continue to contact them for updates. read more

Lousy and backward, after receiving delivery confirmation from the courier, when traveling miles arriving at the store/range I was told that I must wait for a phone call from them before the transfer, when asked the reason was told that they had to record the transfer/item event, funny, which all FFL dealers must do, and others do not require their customers to wait and inconvenience them by a third party service, and worst more, charge a higher transfer fee. This kind of policy/service should never be tolerated by custormers, paying others to inconvenience them. Not to mention as others have about being treated like children in the store and acting like nanny police. read more

My wife and I visited the store on November 30th, It was our first time in a gun shop and our first gun purchase. The store was crowded, but Don took a great amount of time walking us through all of the varies options. He suggested that we try a few out on the range. We returned on December 7th for the Basic Safety Training Course, which was taught by Bill. I highly recommend this course. Bill was excellent and answered all our questions. These folks are great, very patient with a new shooter. We will return. read more

Very poor customer service !!!!!! Had a incident when my wife stopped in there to check on a gun we order the manager of the store had gotten very nasty with her about the order . We called talk to owner and then went back in to get our gun and the same manager was still acting nasty toward us after the owner spoke to him. Everyone I have interacted with has been friendly and supportive. I was never pressured or interfered with but when I had questions or sought advice there was always a knowledgeable staff member there to assist. The membership is reasonable and the gun selection and ammo is good. The only con is that the building/range is a bit worn. read more

Ya know. I read some of these reviews and I was real hesitant about going here, but I'm glad I did. Are these guys overly friendly? No. You're not shopping for a new blouse, ladies. They're serious guys who sell a serious product but I had a great experience. Show them respect and they show it back. They're very knowledgeable and were nice guys. After being upfront that "hey, I've shot a few times, but I've never owned a gun can you help me out" they were really helpful, supportive and offered advice. Their pricing, in my opinion is better than average as I did a ton of research. In the end I purchased 2 new firearms. They helped me special order EXACTLY what I wanted An h&k .40 pistol, and an AR-15 rifle. The gentleman even helped me put on some of the accessories I bought. He didn't have to, but he insisted. "Let me show you how". Like I said if you're looking for bubbly sales associates, don't think you're gonna find that at any firearm supplier, but these guys are knowledgeable, helpful, and can make your experience a positive one. Terrible customer service! My parents have purchased several firearms from them. On a visit today a gentleman behind the counter was rude and appeared to be bothered by questions my dad had regarding a purchase. The employee never looked at my father and gave one word answers to all questions. He was also rude to my sister that was accompanying my parents. As my parents were spending several hundred dollars on this purchase, you would think a little customer service would have been manageable. As such, we will never make another purchase from this retailer and will advise any family and friends to avoid them as well. read more

The range sucks and is absolutely bottom of the barrel. Think it's ridiculous that they need to physically inspect every firearm you bring into the range. No need to get your grubby mitts on my pistols. Decent stock but dumb mid-20 somethings as customer support. read more

I visited Shooters Choice in Delaware to purchase ammo for a competition shoot. I am from Pennsylvania and am an avid shooter. I have NEVER in my life as a shooter as well as a firearms instructor experienced such poor customer service. The staff were NOT busy in any way on the 24 of November 2015 when my brother and I showed up. The staff, especially the counter cash register person was very rude and acted like we were an inconvenience when asked where to locate a specific brand of ammunition. If you don't want to work there find another job buddy. Sorry to have been such a bother to you. Next time I will travel farther for any needed shooting supplies. On a last note, I have traveld the county on more shooting events than I can remember. This is the first time in 20 years I have been treated this poorly when purchasing supplies at a gun shop. So if management cares, I would HIGHLY suggest you talk to your staff and have them trained on customer service especially Sales Clerk ID #50 who work on November 24, 2015 at exactly 1616 hours (4:16pm). read more

Last week on Monday, I joined Shooter's Choice and on Wednesday, I invited my neighbor with me to the range as my guess. We signed in and were given the target holders and the Manager in a rude manner told us that we better not hit his target holder or will have to pay. I did not think too much of it at the time and thought maybe he was having a bad day. The range was literally empty with just the two of us and one other range user. Later, we were joined by another member of our community and by the way, all three of us are retired Law Enforcement Officers. On Monday, the guess that I brought to Shooter's Choice last week join Shooter's Choice as a member. During the past week, I solicited several other members from my community to go with us but some of the neighbors had scheduling conflicts and said they would consider going next week. We were going to make this a weekly event/outing since we live in a 55+ community and mostly everyone living in our community is retired. Today, we arrived about 11:15 am at Shooter's Choice. When we signed in, we were told one lane was available, 2 lanes were being used, 5 lanes were being used by an unexpected class of Christiana Safety Officer Training Class and 2 lanes were being reserved for 12:00 noon. We had not choice but to take the one lane and take turns shooting. When one of the two lanes came available, we asked for the lane and were told "they had people waiting for the lane (paying customers vs. members) and they started a waiting list while we were inside shooting. One of the store employees said that we came in one car and that's why we get one lane. I later complained to the manager about one of the shooters of the two occupied lanes, and the manager said the person was a range instructor who is an employee of Shooter's Choice. I would think two customer/members would have preference on using the range over an employee/safety instructor. Further more, the manager took sides with the safety officer and refused to hear my complaint fully. After all of this, I was asked if I wanted to get on a list that had about 4 names on it already. Bad customer service and I doubt that I will bring anyone else to Join Shooter's Choice unless I see improvements in the customer service and fairness of lane assignments. read more

I used the range for the first time today and after the experience I signed up for a one year membership. This place is absolutely the worst gun shop I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Everything is overpriced and they have no problem gouging their customers for every last penny they can. The staff is rude and unhelpful. I thought maybe I caught them on a bad day the first time I went in, but my subsequent visit proved they have no intention of being a good store. Their loss I guess, I was about to drop 2 grand on a rifle, but they will never see a single red cent of my money. read more

Let me start by saying that I have been shooting at a private range for 20+ years and have not been to a private range in years. I show up to the range and find a "STOP" sign out front that states " No loaded guns permitted". I have a CCDW license and had a pistol on my hip under shirt and jacket. I put my long gun case and ammo box down and safely unload the weapon and return it to the holster on my hip. When I enter the store I am greeted by immediate instruction to lay my long gun case on the counter and they will check it. Fine. I reach to open the case and am told "No...we will open the case". I go to retrieve my pistol off my hip and immediately get yelled at by the guy behind the counter. He grabs the cleared and slid locked open gun from my hand and starts lecturing me about a second sign inside that states that all guns must be in a case. Mind you this sign is inside on the counter I am now standing next to. I understood his point and agreed in the first 20 seconds of the five minute lecture as attempts to make me feel like an idiot. I informed the guy that had they put a sign outside about guns in a case, I would have followed it before entering the store. The irony is that they support the 2nd amendment everywhere except in there store even though the state licensed me to carry at will. My ammo was than inspected by the same rude gentleman and I was finally able to get into the range to shoot. I than received no less than two more lectures about the type of .223 ammo that I was shooting over the next 35 minutes even though the ammo was checked and cleared by their staff and I finished shooting my rifle and had moved on to handguns. I informed both gentleman that they need to talk to their staff who approved the ammo. I don't understand how it seems to be automatic that when you work at a shooting range you must be an asshole and talk down to your customers every chance you get. Their is a nice polite way to educate and get your point across and have repeat customers and than their is there way of talking to people. I will not set foot in their range again and every gun guy I know will be made aware off the attitude off the staff at that range. read more

Not a bad shop. Rules are pretty shady. You pay for range time but arent allowed to bring all your loaded mags in, hence spending more time on the range. Staff needs to change the way they handle first time customers. Maybe they get a lot of idiots in there that can be a problem but use some discretion in the way they speak to people eapecially if there are kids around. If there were more ranges available, I wouldnt go back to shooters choice. read more
