I happened across this deli while I was working in the area. The signage on the front of the restaurant was enough to peek my interest and as soon as I stepped in the front door I knew my curiosity was going to pay off. A gentleman behind the counter (i'm assuming the owner) greeted me and asked if I had been there before. I told him I hadn't and asked him for a recommendation. He suggested the smoked salmon BLT with the German potato salad. Both were beyond amazing. Unfortunately this place is a little too far for me to add to my regular lunch rotation, but I will definitely go out of my to stop by if i'm anywhere near the area. read more

I've never had a bad meal here. Their in-house smoked salmon is amaze-balls. Their sauerkraut and sausages remind me of Europe. Their baguettes are stupid delicious and fresh. My latest favorite meal here is their Smoked Salmon BLT. OMG I could it eat it every day. The pancakes are SERIOUS, large and full of whatever extra ingredients you want. My favorite new breakfast joint on Main St. I kinda feel bad knowing the Urth is across the street. I used to LOVE that place. I still do but I love Shoops more right now. It's healthier and way cheaper. The Green Eggs and Ham are great. Pesto, eggs, ham + flaky bread = yummy! The banana pancakes are also a must have. Their breakfast wraps are great too. I forget what it's called but I got one with egg white, turkey and other yuminess in a spinach wrap with a side of salsa and I definitely inhaled it. So good. I love me some Shoops. Cash only though. So friendly, fresh and adorable! The spinach salad has a housemade dressing and abundant avocado, both of which just made my day. This is a little gem on Main street in Sant Monica. The food is very good here. My favorite is the Shoops Cobb salad. Every time I ordered it I swear they fry up the bacon specifically for the individual salad I just ordered because the bacon always comes on the plate hot off the grill. Not sure where to start as 3 out of 4 sandwiches were not very good at all. Maybe the sandwich maker was having an off day or eating there on a Sunday around 2 is a bad idea since they close at 3:30. The Clevelander had no meat on it and the meat that was there had no taste. The salmon sandwich my friend ordered was totally uneatable as it was so fishy. The Pastrami was so fatty and at that point I had totally lost my appetite. The one bright spot was the Hot Turkey Sandwich. I guess I have to go across town to get my solid deli food. Shoops is my "Cheers" They have my super strong and very tasty iced coffee waiting for me by the time I sit down. They are not only happy to accommodate all of my crazy substitutions, the waitress and the chef already have them memorized! All of their dressings are made in house, their blue cheese is out of this world, as is their tomato vinaigrette. The Pancakes are PERFECTION, crispy on the outside and soft and moist on the inside. They will not only put anything you want in the pancakes, including BACON, if you can't decide, have your choice of one of each different kind! Matt the owner is always there with a smile and a fist bump getting us to try something new and delicious like Salmon bacon or their new pastries. Love the whole lot of them.... Believe the reviews, this place is legit. Ordered the pancake combo with Weisswurst and the Tomato pancake. Both dishes were excellent. The pancake batter is special and they cook the pancakes perfectly. The pancakes have the crispy outside with a fluffy, soft center. We didn't even need the syrup, just a thin swab of butter. The tomato pancake is simple, but devine. It's a savory style pancake, which is topped with tomato, pesto, and egg. Again, so simple, but their execution is awesome. European styled service, so no attitude or no BS, and just the order. We even returned for take out on our way to the airport. This is a must stop destination anytime I'm in Venice. read more

The pancakes are fluffy and perfectly balanced (highly recommend the muesli pancakes), the eggs melt in your mouth, the sausage is flavorful...even on a Sunday morning, it wasn't super crowded. Gross. Salad was a decent size but plain no flavor dressing. Chicken on the salad was hard like a rock and dry because it was cooked and then left on the side of the grill for later orders...pathetic. Hair in the salad too. Sandwich was ok. Fruit side was boring. Soup was boring. Over priced a bit too. This is ultra bad diner food, at least price it that way. Water went dry at the table. Wont return. read more
