Been patronizing this establishment forever. The owner is delightful with a beautiful smile and joyful personality who greets you from behind the counter and the staff is always friendly. The breakfast offerings are yummy especially any of their pancakes...when I have friends visiting, we stop there and grab sandwiches and beverages and walk 3 blocks down to the beach. But, what really makes me love this place is their variety of marzipans... Never realized this was said to be a German deli, I just love the variety of sweets and delicious offerings... always fresh and they survived the pandemic which is quite a feat. Just walk down Main Street and see how many places did not... ( this makes me so sad because Santa Monica will always be home to me ... ) Shoops is located in a smallish strip mall so parking is challenging, but there is always street parking. * bear in mind the SM parking meters are pricey and the meter "police" lurk stealthily waiting to write meter expiration tickets.* Bring lots of quarters bc it's $2.50 an hour ;). Service was more than excellent. The employees were very mindful in seating us and taking our orders. Ordered the BLT for lunch and it was the perfect portion for a kid-day bite. The ratio of lettuce, bacon, and tomato perfectly complemented eachother. They also used just the right amount of mayonnaise: it didn't overpower and the sandwich wasn't dripping with mayonnaise. I'd also recommend the side of fruit, it was juicy and refreshing on toasty Saturday. Overall, I'm very pleased! read more

Excellent place to eat breakfast! The service was incredible - felt like it was run by a family who really cared about their customers! Food was great! Outside seating area was perfect in July. I had a mushroom omelette and a banana pancake and both were outstanding. My wife thought the bacon was cooked perfectly - crisp and flavorful. We have been to a lot of places that just can't do bacon right! We walked 15min to get here from the Santa Monica Pier area and will do it again next time we are in Santa Monica! read more

Absolutely lovely brunch at Shoops! Parked in the neighborhood and cruised over. Much more pleasant experience than I have had across the street at Urth Cafe. Chill and relaxing. Everyone was nice and there was lots of room. They set up a bunch of tables in the former parking lot. The service was excellent, our server BEA was the best. Incredibly fast service. The menu is big as are the portions. Great choices for a healthy filling meal. Very reasonably priced. Our food was great and we will be back. read more

Review of the breakfast This food taste like homemade (but better because you don't have to do it yourself). We went on a Saturday morning and got seated right away which is always a plus. They have an expansive menu but I went basic pancakes, bacon, and eggs and got a side of potatoes. My bf got the famous bacon pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I thought the pancakes were wonderful!! My bf LOVED the bacon pancakes! He said they were perfect!! The surprise of the day were the potatoes. So garlicky and well seasoned I felt like I made them myself! Customer service is friendly although I think they might be a little understaffed for the post Covid life but I can't hold that against them. They did great for what they have to face these days. After brunch you can walk about a block and a half and be at the beach! Doesn't get much better than that! I'll for sure come back! read more

The food was good, and the outdoor seating was pleasant. The lady who seated us and the servers were friendly and attentive. We found out we had to pay at the cashier inside, which was fine. However, I was taken aback by the woman at the cashier when she told me to pay the tips for 'the girls' as she turned the screen around with choices of tips. I am okay with tipping, but don't appreciate being told in my face. The customers give the tips; don't tell the customer to provide tips. Everything was good until then, leaving me with a very unpleasant taste and not wanting to return. It is very disappointing because this cafe is within walking distance from my place. read more

We walked over to grab breakfast. This place is so warm, welcoming and delicious. We ordered a veggie scramble, blueberry pancakes, orange and apple juice. I loved that getting sides of fruit wasn't extra, along with choosing egg whites for no additional cost. only weird thing was the smoked salmon. The place we originally wanted to go to was closed so we stumbled upon Shoop's by chance and I'm so glad we did! They have a little market area with super fun European products and then a nice deli where you can get different cheese, meats, etc. The restaurant inside is wonderful and while I didn't order the pancakes they looked incredible. The wrap I got was called the Danny's wrap and it was awesome. They use spinach wraps but it still felt very much like a breakfast burrito. It has bacon, avo, chicken, and swiss cheese in it!!! Sooo good! They have a lot of omelets, scrambles, and sandwiches as well that looked amazing. I would definitely come back to try more :) read more

We went here to try out their breakfast menu. There are a lot of breakfast spots in the area but this one looked like it had variety of menu items for me and my bf. My boyfriend likes the classic American breakfast items where as I tend to be more adventurous. Outdoor patio (seatng in the parking lot) or takeout available. Great selection of teas. I had the ginger peach tea. I really appreciated their selection of teas. My boyfriend had Brian's wrap with a side of red potatoes and it was equally bomb. The food was hella flavorful and worth it. Enter pancake. I came here with a vegetarian friend who requested we eat here; it's nice having friends with dietary restrictions, cause they find you all these awesome places you'd never try otherwise. Back to pancake: awesome. I've never even heard of a savory pancake before trying it here; typically you think of blueberries and syrup and strawberries and stuff, but basil and tomato and eggs was just amazing. The place is cute, there is indoor and outdoor dining. The outdoor dining area is a shred space with a few other restaurants and shops. The indoor area includes a deli and market with eauropean specific products. My husband and I went for breakfast and had the pesto goat cheese basil pancake and the bacon cheddar jalapeño pancake, both come w two eggs over easy on top. This is a nice place for some breakfast after a good morning surf session at Santa Monica. The scrambled salmon was solid. Fresh taste and good texture. Eggs were scrambled with spinach inside. Goes nice with a cup of coffee. There's a nice outside area with tables and a deli inside with a nice selection of cheeses and sausages. Nothing mind blowing but a satisfying way to get some hearty carbs and protein for brunch. I might come back and try their smoked salmon. read more

This spot was okay. The staff was not extremely friendly and it was a little unorganized while we waited for our table. My salad was great, but we got salmon bites as an appetizer and they tasted like beef jerky, they were not enjoyable. With so many great spots to go in the area I don't think I'll be back. read more

Food was sub par. Half way through the meal we were asked to move our vehicle so that the owner could park hers in a spot that was clearly marked "reserved for Shoops parking only". There were a minimum of 30 other spots the entitled owner could have parked but she insisted on bothering paying customers. I would never recommend dining here. make sure not to order the bacon pancakes they are horrible. read more

I just ate the best Reuben I've ever had (they call it the Clevelander). Bread is soft, meat isn't fatty or chewy, perfect amount of sauce while not dripping in it. Not messy at all. 5/5 - fantastic. As a Jew I've had my fair share of Reuben's on the East Coast and this is still streets ahead. Everything comes with a side and I've always chosen the potato salad and it is awesome - vinegary, mustardy, bacony, warm, all the good stuff. 6 stars for also having Weisswurst, which is a white sausage that is often boiled and softer. By far my favorite and definitely the most unique of the usual sausages you'll see in America. Served with a hefty amount of really good sauerkraut, it's my other go-to dish now. This place might have the best pancakes in LA! when you come here you gotta try the bacon pancakes it is an absolute must when you come here! It is be far in a way the best pancake I ever had! Shoop's is also in a great location in Santa Monica because once you're full off pancakes you can walk it off by taking a nice walk by the beach. The people that work their are always super nice and inviting. If you have plans in Santa Monica you should start here and spend the rest of the day at the pier, shopping or just enjoy the beach. read more

The Salmon BLT without cheese and mayonnaise is the best especially if it is toasted! It comes with a side of fruit and the staffs are awesome. Delicious!!! I've had their Mediterranean omelette, which is a delicious omelette, but made it even better with the tapenade on top. It also comes with hummus on top, but I'm allergic so I didn't eat it. I've tasted their savory pancakes, pastrami, and also the basil one. Their potatoes were delicious. The drinks were also delicious and the service was great. The ambience was just that of a deli. I try to go there every time I go to Santa Monica. read more

One of my new most favorite spots! So happy I found this little gem! It's small, indoor seating only and a market on one half. We all had breakfast stuff I don't remember what other stuff they had. This part market, part cafe has the best smoked salmon and gravlox (cured salmon) on the Westside. It's on par with Gjusta, but half the price. They make great pancakes as well with lots of options for mix-ins. There aren't a lot of seats, but you can also order ahead or for take out and wander down to the beach to eat. read more

If you follow the energy it will take you where you need to be. The long line at Urth across the street is intimidating and right across the street is Shoop's . Not the kind of spot you are used to in a great way. Half market half restaurant it has a European flair with brats , sausages , imported food from who knows where , packaged in a foreign language which is half the fun. The best banana hot cakes that make you wonder if you should eat them or sleep in them and a BLT with an egg that you must have a strategy for the first bite because it is a commitment ! Paulina was kind enough to bring my to go bag outside with smiley eyes . A great place two blocks away from my new home. Wont be cooking too much. read more

The owner who handed me my pick up order was not wearing a mask. This was our first time here since the pandemic started. We used to come almost weekly. I am so disappointed that he cares so little about his customers to be working at the counter and not protecting those he comes in contact with. Best food in Santa Monica! Little deli right on Main Street. Usually a smaller line than other places and idk how it isn't packed. Seems like a little secret in plain sight. A little on the watery side. Chicken bites came out in about 15 minutes. The coating had a very satisfying crunch, very saucy, but fell off the chicken easily and was a bit salty. This is a messy dish for sure. You will get your hands dirty! Chorizo Benedict came out about 30 minutes after order. Not great honestly. Portion size was generous. The eggs were poached decently, still runny, but the chorizo itself was bland and rather dry. The potatoes were room temperature. The bread a bit too chewy. Not AT ALL spicy. Super light on the pico de gallo. The service was rather slow for not being very busy. They didn't appear to be understaffed either. The location itself is cozy and not too loud, which is nice! Short walk from down town. The staff was kind, but boy were they slow. From being seated to paying for my meal was well over an hour! Automatic 2.5% "service fee" total was $46.50 before tip. I don't think I'll be returning unfortunately. The search for a good Benedict in LA area continues!

All we really wanted was a good experience. The only direct request we had after speaking with Aaron was to have our bed re-made so we could nap before leaving. In fairness, we requested this from the a front desk attendant after they could not locate Aaron directly. However despite being assured that it would happen, it never did. Very unfortunate as we really wanted to like this property given the location. Other, albiet smaller issues included our lunch order being initially incorrect as there was a menu change but the chefs didn't know about it. Our server was very nice and apologetic. My wife was asked and requested a warm room for her spa service but it didn't happen. Also, someone walked in during the middle of her treatment looking for something. We had to walk around to find a server for the pool restaurant after waiting ~10 minutes for someone to arrive. With all of this, we would consider giving it another try namely because of the location and because everyone was courteous despite not delivering, but that would be a tough decision with other proven 5 star properties in the vicinity.

We enjoyed the margharita pizza, pork meat balls, wedge salad, French onion soup (was a bit salty). Servers are efficient and helpful. Seating is inside and on the patio.
