Nice Yelp find near the Manasquan reservoir! It's strip mall location seemed more suited to a chain, but happily this was not part of one. This is real deal homemade ice cream served at fair prices. Of the 20 plus flavors there were some low sugar and Italian ice options. But for me the 3 types of chocolate were appealing, I went for the triple chocolate paired with peanut butter swirl. Both were creamy and full of flavor, but the PB stole the show. It's base had a nice peanut taste, and swirled within were veins of PB and Reese's cups! Next time I'll get that with the chocolate brownie that seemed darker than the triple. My co taster opted for soft serve cookies and cream, an option neither of us ever saw before. It was a huge portion on a cone, and so much that it needed a cup to ward off an imminent cream catastrophe. It was creamy and flavorful too, with plenty of cookie bits. There are about 4 tables or so inside, and everything was spotlessly clean. There was a nice selection of ice cram cakes on hand that I'm sure could rival your Cookie Pusses. The service is always friendly, and as fast as can be considered reasonable. I say this because they do not pull any punches when scooping your order. If they went any faster, their servings would be more like what you get at a big business ice cream shop. Two scoops in a small could satisfy a small family of non-ice cream fanatics. However, cookie monster and pistachio are great too. Pistachio is loaded with real pistachios, not almonds like some places. Whenever I am there, I also make sure to get my frequent customer card stamped. After 10 stamps you receive a free regular cup or cone. They give double stamps in the winter. Upon transitioning from licking to crunching, I literally had to peel the paper off the waffle cone (old?), which didn't even completely come off. However, the young man working behind the counter was very polite and their prices were reasonable (thankfully). They have waffle cones AND waffle bowls which makes this place even more the best! So stopped into shivers for some take home of hard vanilla ice cream to make root beer floats. $10 for a quart of vanilla that is average at best is not acceptable. Flavorless and bland, not creamy and not even real vanilla bean. I like going there with my children even when it isn't a fund-raising night because their ice cream is EXCELLENT. They have a good variety of flavors and toppings. They also have very good Italian Ices. The service is friendly and when you're getting items to go - when they're done scooping out one cup of ice cream for you, they stick it back in the freezer while packaging the next one so the first one stays cold longer.
