The slogan "Ice Cream, Cakes, and Fun!" manages to evoke a festive environment that Shivers promises. The shorter the syntax, the more evocative and straight-forward; as any English major would know. I do not know if the canvases of solid colors are meant to represent abstract art, but I can see how it does not conflict with the interior. It does not contrast strongly with the light-colored floor tiles or the walls, but it does not complement them either. The rows of ice cream containers with many flavors entices anyone who looks upon them from behind the glass counter. Website: 3/5 The design of the website looks to have an outdated theme. As you can expect, it blends milk, ice cream, and Snickers bits into a milkshake. I can definitely taste the chocolate, caramel, and peanuts that typically come with Snickers. The shake had a well-blended consistency of well-preserved ice cream, which melted easily with every sip. It achieves that creamy texture especially at the top. Worth The Money?: 4/5 While the website does offer a view of the products they have, I would like to see what flavors they can showcase on their website. For an ice cream shop with so much personality, I do not even know what their signature dish is. Perhaps it could be in the form of a new flavor, a milkshake, or an ice cream cookie. I got a medium size one scoop of cake batter which was definitely on point , more on the sweeter side but it good ! My second scoop I got Cookie Monster which was again very delicious! It's a strip mall with a bunch of other stores so ample parking. I walked in and wasn't acknowledged, fine no problem. Went to survey the scene and see what they had since I had never been there. Decided on soft serve and hard ice cream. Was standing on line for a bit before someone told me they could help me. Normally they come down to you in other ice cream places but I wasn't sure how it worked here. The girl was younger, maybe she just didn't care- she seemed distracted and was looking around as I was talking to her. I had just had a couple of questions, again because I hadn't been there before. Nice Yelp find near the Manasquan reservoir! It's strip mall location seemed more suited to a chain, but happily this was not part of one. This is real deal homemade ice cream served at fair prices. Of the 20 plus flavors there were some low sugar and Italian ice options. But for me the 3 types of chocolate were appealing, I went for the triple chocolate paired with peanut butter swirl. Both were creamy and full of flavor, but the PB stole the show. It's base had a nice peanut taste, and swirled within were veins of PB and Reese's cups! Next time I'll get that with the chocolate brownie that seemed darker than the triple. My co taster opted for soft serve cookies and cream, an option neither of us ever saw before. It was a huge portion on a cone, and so much that it needed a cup to ward off an imminent cream catastrophe. It was creamy and flavorful too, with plenty of cookie bits. There are about 4 tables or so inside, and everything was spotlessly clean. There was a nice selection of ice cram cakes on hand that I'm sure could rival your Cookie Pusses. The staff was very friendly and quick, and even proactively had samples ready to aid in a speedier selection. This is the place where I get my wife's current favorite of all flavors of ice cream. Cookie monster is far and away the best flavor they have, at least in our opinion. The service is always friendly, and as fast as can be considered reasonable. I say this because they do not pull any punches when scooping your order. If they went any faster, their servings would be more like what you get at a big business ice cream shop. Two scoops in a small could satisfy a small family of non-ice cream fanatics. While Shivers won't blow you away with it's ice cream, the ice cream is delicious and much better than store bought. As a chocolate lover, I am partial to their Triple Chocolate Delight. However, cookie monster and pistachio are great too. Pistachio is loaded with real pistachios, not almonds like some places. Whenever I am there, I also make sure to get my frequent customer card stamped. After 10 stamps you receive a free regular cup or cone. They give double stamps in the winter. Unfortunately, the two scoop cone I got was pretty...Eh. The scoop of Twix was mostly freezer burnt (maybe not a popular flavor?) and the scoop of Cake Batter was just okay. Upon transitioning from licking to crunching, I literally had to peel the paper off the waffle cone (old?), which didn't even completely come off. However, the young man working behind the counter was very polite and their prices were reasonable (thankfully). Yes. I am indeed a fan. Shivers has a lot of flavors and a lot of ice cream concoctions on their menu so you can leave with more than ice cream in a cup or cone. The people are always nice and they are one of the few businesses that employ competent teenagers. My first time going to this ice cream place and I would totally come back again. They have really awesome flavors to chose from and even the toppings choice is even more awesome! They have waffle cones AND waffle bowls which makes this place even more the best! So stopped into shivers for some take home of hard vanilla ice cream to make root beer floats. $10 for a quart of vanilla that is average at best is not acceptable. Flavorless and bland, not creamy and not even real vanilla bean. Shivers is a great part of the Howell community, often having fundraisers for local schools. I like going there with my children even when it isn't a fund-raising night because their ice cream is EXCELLENT. They have a good variety of flavors and toppings. They also have very good Italian Ices. The service is friendly and when you're getting items to go - when they're done scooping out one cup of ice cream for you, they stick it back in the freezer while packaging the next one so the first one stays cold longer. BEST KEPT SECRET OF HOWELL/JACKSON?! I'm a huge ice cream fan, and I have to say this may be the BEST ice cream that I have ever had. It is so creamy and delicious. I got 2 scoops, chocolate fudge brownie and coffee in a waffle cone. The cone was fresh (not stale and hard like other places). The ice cream was PERFECT. The temperature was great, not rock hard and not too soft. The flavors were rich and delicious. I also sampled the vanilla and it was creamy and perfect. I usually get soft served ice cream whenever I get ice cream. And I have to say,NOT ALL SOFT SERVE ICE CREAMS ARE CREATED EQUAL. I've never had soft serve so delicious. Once you have Shiver's soft serve you'll taste the difference. It's not ice-y or frozen tasting. It is SO CREAMY. Also, they have Cookies and Cream soft serve! AMAZING. (They also have mint soft serve which you could swirl with Cookies&Cream and get a Mint Choc Chip type flavor. But I am not a fan of mint anything so I've never had it.)
