Ice cream perfection! Truthfully their birthday ice cream cake is hands down one of my top couple ice cream creations of any kind. It's just great. Their standard ice cream and sundaes are good too. My only real complaint is that too many people know about this place and certain summer days th line can just be ridiculous but no fault of Jersey Freeze's! If you can get here, don't even think about it just get here. One time I had a special milkshake called the nutter butter - it was a peanut butter lovers dream. It was even garnished with a nutter butter cookie! The folks that work here are usually super nice and answer questions, as well as let you try the ice cream to help you make a decision. Top 3 ice cream place for me. The s'mores is by far the best of anyone's. The peanut butter pie is so decadent. Also they do their toppings the best, toppings on the bottom, ice cream, then more toppings, then more ice cream, and top off with more toppings. No place does it like this. Be careful tho when the temperature is above 60° and past 6pm the line can get pretty long. Pro tip: go earlier without a wait and throw it in the freezer until you're ready to eat later. read more

Have been wanting to try the food for years since I've had the ice cream more times than I can count. As expected, the staff is great. Welcoming, patient, and helpful. When you enter you wait online, kinda of like any fast food place. I thought it was a sit down with service, it's not. Place your order. Get a number, grab any open table, display your number, and wait for them to bring you your food. The wait will depend on how busy they are, we waited about 15 minutes. My son and I ordered the burger basket and my grandson the kids chicken finger. All 3 came with fries. You get 3 kids chicken fingers with your order. Burger was undercooked and I would rate the frozen fries a 2. At least they seemed like they were frozen bought. Each meal comes with a drink. Cost is not really a value for what you get compared to a diner. Best thing about going for food at Jersey Freeze??? The Ice Cream you know you're getting afterwards!!! I stopped at this place randomly when I was in the mood for a soft serve ice cream. It's a cute building with a large parking lot. I went to the order window and the line was out the door, but it went by fairly quickly. They even have little painted lanes with feet to show where and how to line up outside (super cute). When it comes to ice cream I'm a plain vanilla kind of girl, and I'm basing this review on what I ordered. The vanilla soft serve was fresh tasting and creamy (a perfect consistency). However, the waffle cone was hard and tasted a little stale. There are a ton of flavor options (see photos) and the line was in fact out the door, so maybe something else would've been tastier. read more

Give yourself time to go to Jersey Freeze, so if you have to put your kids to bed in an hour, skip it. We waited 25 minutes on a Wednesday afternoon to order. Tried the chocolate and the pistachio, and both were just fine...? I took bites of them and didn't really want more. They tasted artificial and watery. I got the key lime pie for myself, and luckily, I enjoyed that one. I wouldn't be clamoring to return, though. I know it's a landmark, but my goodness, it tasted so average. The friendliness of the staff is what pushes this review to five stars. Not only was the girl who made my ice cream incredibly pleasant, she seemed genuinely excited to create a peanut butter-hot fudge sundae that elevated the hard peanut butter ice cream flavors. I do have to admit that while they're using a high-quality ice cream, we are spoiled by homemade ice cream by the shore. While the soft serve variety is much larger than usual, the hard ice cream is purchased from a supplier. As a whole, the ice cream and experience is great. I apparently parked by the restaurant side and was tempted to try it after having ice cream around dinner time. First off, the staff on this side are equally friendly. The atmosphere is also incredibly nice for a fast casual restaurant, with sufficient heating and a clean gray decor. The food was served hot, cooked well, and featured incredibly tasty crinkle-cut fries. However, much like the ice cream side the chicken tenders seemed like they were probably purchased pre-made from a supplier and fried to order. The chicken wings seemed more likely to be house-breaded as they had no signs of being initially frozen. While I'm not a coleslaw person, this was pretty average. The buffalo sauce had a little bit of an artificial taste, but otherwise was pleasantly spicy. All-in-all, I didn't expect the food to be good when I heard that Jersey Freeze opened a restaurant several years ago. The atmosphere seems recently-renovated, and honestly this is the perfect complement to the ice cream place next door. While I wouldn't recommend going out of the way for Jersey Freeze's food, as many do for their ice cream, the restaurant is simple, affordable, and done well with what I'd almost describe as being carnival-style food. The flat top griddle probably excels at making a "smash burger," and I will likely try that next time. Considering this is a combined review and I've enjoyed the ice cream immensely each time, they do cumulatively come out to five stars. The restaurant side is closer to four for what it is, and not having more items that are house-made keeps it from being exceptional. But the friendly service takes it over the edge, and makes Jersey Freeze fun for families and friend groups alike. read more

Went out to dinner last night and instead of getting dessert at the restaurant, we checked to make sure Jersey Freeze was open. The website clearly stated that they were open till 1030. We arrived at 10:02. The place was locked up tight. The girls behind the counter just kept holding up ten fingers. Myself and about 12 other people, who also kept saying that the website says 10:30. This place was absolutely popping on a Friday night I'm June. We didn't have to wait long in line, probably about 10 minutes. We got cookies and cream, also dole whip. There is ample outdoor seating on the patio and also some in the back with picnic tables on the hill. But the parking lot fills up fast. My boyfriend enjoyed his cookies and cream. The dole whip was a little bit too sweet for me. I prefer the one from Magnifico in East Brunswick. Color me surprised, I never knew I would enjoy soft ice cream as much as I did, here. It was worth the hype! As you might have guessed, this is my first time at Jersey Freeze. When I first moved to Central Jersey, from Brooklyn, I was told by some friends of the iconic places I just HAVE to visit, Jersey Freeze being one of them. I was a workaholic and just didn't make it out here. I even heard, this is one of Bruce Springsteen's favorite ice cream shops. Well, if it's good enough for Bruce Springsteen, it's good enough for me. Let's venture forth! There are two parts to Jersey Freeze. The ice cream parlor is in the front and the Jersey Freeze restaurant where you can grab burgers and hot dogs and more, in the rear. They have outdoor seating in both areas. You can also dine inside the restaurant should you choose. They also now honor charge cards. I ordered a large chocolate and vanilla twist to be shared between my hubby and myself. Since the pandemic, I have to watch my weight. After one spoonful of it, I looked at hubby and told him to go back and purchase his own. "But think of your waistline," he cried desperately in order to help me get back to my pre-pandemic shape. I did the battle cry, "more of me to love!" as I greedily scooped up another loving spoonful. I've visited other ice cream shops since we live on the Jersey shore but Good golly, Miss Molly, this ice cream is the smoothest and creamiest, I've ever had! This super casual, very family oriented local spot is a hit amongst the locals. My gf's partner had a mint milkshake and declared early on, he's not sharing with anyone. Fine, as my spoon made its way to my gf's sundae but we wound up having a fierce spoon fencing duel. We settled with tasting each other's ice creams after we each broke one another's spoon. Smssssh. I will admit, it is very hard to take the time for a great photo here because all I wanted to do was snap a very quick photo and eat! Their awning reads, "Come Taste the Best." Delicious frozen dairy treats if I ever tried them. Their milkshakes are some of the best and I really can have them anytime. They are creamy and have the perfect thickness. I tried a black and white milkshake and it tasted on par with one I could have gotten at Shake Shack! The prices are about the same as one from them too, but I think you get more at Jersey Freeze. Their hot food is decent, comparable to a shop in Enola, Kristy's Whistle Stop. In fact, both are institutions, since this one has been around for nearly 70 years. The location is pretty good too, not far from the Freehold Raceway Mall and Route 9, so it makes it great for that fun roadside snack. I have only been here one other time to taste the ice cream which is really good BUT let me tell you'll we stopped today for lunch and omg, this was the best burger we have had here in New Jersey!
