My wife and I came here on Monday. It was pretty empty, but we sat at the doorway for over 3 mins before anyone even noticed us. We were seated at a table with no plates or chopsticks. We ordered the shrimp tempura roll, Philly roll, the salmon and avocado roll, tempura combo plate. We received everything pretty quickly, but we still didn't have plates or chop sticks. When we got to eat, we noticed the rolls were very small, and lacking in protein. The salmon didn't taste fresh and the rice monopolized the entire roll. The shrimp tempura rolls were nothing but rice. The soya sauce was very salty and this was the reduced salty version. We ordered a bowl of miso soup, it was very salty and barely warm. I thought the salmon and scallop were very fresh! I did like the spicy tuna roll, but overall, the sushi was not for me. Both the Alaskan Roll and the Spicy scallop roll seemed very disconnected. I think it's because the rice want sticky enough, so it felt like I was eating each ingredient on its own. The plaza where the restaurant is at could be very packed on weekend nights so be aware that it might take you very long time to find parking. Much easier to find parking during weekdays. I ordered sashimi bibimbap ($22) - a premium choice for poke. I personally don't like poke because of the bad quality of the fish. But this sashimi bibimbap has pretty fresh sashimi. Portion is big too. So even if it's pricey compared to your normal poke bowl, I recommend this over poke. Environment is nice too. read more

The new chef was so kind and helped make some menu selections (and some not in the menu just yet). We started with the Gyoza which was yummy. Went last night for some seafood and this place did not disappoint. We're all in Seafood biz and we know good fish when we taste it. This place is solid. Try their assorted which includes the crab, and try their sashimi. Very good. Their wasabi is the real deal. This is my go-to sushi spot in the suburbs. I wish they had a spot in the city, it would save me from the drive but it is worth it visiting my parents in the suburbs each time. I like that they have an anniversary special right now for only $19 which includes several courses from sashimi, chirashi, tempura, appetizer. It is a lot of food for the amount and I always get full which is hard when I go out to eat sushi/japanese food. I like that the fish is fresh and they have tanks of other seafood that they can grab and serve right away like squid to other items that I don't see very often in seafood restaurants. I'd like to start off by saying everything is SO fresh! They even have fish tanks right outside by the tables. I think a family owns the restaurant because the two people there seemed like husband and wife? They were very nice and accomodating. It wasn't a super high end vibe but very much a homey feel which I actually preferred. Everything was reasonably priced and absolutely delicious. I came here with hubby for their weekday lunch special (two rolls and miso soup for $9 or three rolls and miso soup for $12). I ordered the spicy white tuna roll and Alaska roll (avocado, salmon and cucumber) while hubby had the spicy salmon and scorpion roll (tempura calamari, cucumber, avocado, crab meat and spicy mayo). The Alaska roll was decent but I could not finish the spicy white tuna roll as there was way too much mayo which overpowered the fish. We are ordered some sort of fix plate that gives sashimi, appetizers, oysters and the final meal comes some sort of Korean seafood soup. I don't think that goes well with sushi. They also poured a lot of Korean hot sauce on everything. I am not a big fan of that either. The service is fine. The restaurant is pretty much outdated, but nothing to complain about. I got the Godzilla Maki. I was sooooo looking forward too stuffing my face. Well I was surely disappointed. First of all I asked for an Iced Tea. Gross! It tasted like a dirty wash towel. Then I had a Miso soup, it tasted like Miso soup. Finally, I recieved my Godzilla, pros - big rolls, the con - the taste. I can't even describe the taste. It was an odd soapy taste! My least favorite Sushi Place thus far. FYI...this place is old and outdated so don't expect it to be a nice modern restaurant. It's also small. For me an outdated restaurant does not deter me from trying out a place, but for those of you who do, the deco might not suit your taste. read more

Damn good! I've rarely felt like such a gringo in a restaurant, but it's a favorable comment on the food that we were literally the only non-Asian customers for over an hour on a Saturday night. I was mildly self-conscious but that is a small price to pay for such tasty fare. The rolls were handsome and all tasted very fresh. In one case I would say that the sauce was too liberally applied, so next time I'll eschew sauced rolls. The other two (both sauceless) rolls were exquisite. It's a small place, with a handful of four-tops and a long communal table down the middle. You could call it bare bones but that's not a criticism at all; come for the fish, obviously. Korean owned store with a Japanese sounding name/food. Came here for a small late lunch. Ordered a spicy salmon roll and a spicy seafood udon soup to split with my dad. Everything was A-OK indeed. Spicy salmon roll seemed haphazardly rolled, but at least it was the big-salmon chunk kind rather than the minced salmon kind. Tasted not really like fish or spicy sauce but whatever. The soup was okay too. A fair amount of squid and one piece of shrimp, no other seafood. The soup was spicy and salty enough, but nothing special, no depth of flavor, so it was not as satisfying as noodle soup should be. I was hungry and in the area, so it was definitely adequate.
