Stopped by the convenient drive thru on my way to work. Ordered 6 glazed and 3 sausage and cheese kolaches. The kolaches were good but the sausage used is quite salty. Not the best I've ever had. The glazed came out cold. I guess I have to ask for them to be warmed up because there's nothing better than a hot glazed donut. Now I know this for next time. One of the employees is incredibly rude told me I was holding up the line even though it wasn't my fault the donuts are old and not edible. Manager and others were helpful when my donuts were all stale. There's a drive thru and the service was nice and quick. We got some of the jalapeño & cheese kolaches and they were mid. We didn't try any donuts so maybe that's where they shine. Although there are tons of donut shops around that i'll probably try before ever being back here based on the quality of the kolache. read more

We ordered cream filled and regular donuts. The cream filled had almost no filling and all the donuts were at least a day plus old and very dry. We have been eating Shipley donuts since the 60s when they were first formed in Houston Texas. The company sold to new owners in July 2025 and apparently the new owners quality standards are not up to par. This will be our last trip to this donut place, there are many other much better places here in Kyle. read more

Great service - always friendly. Prices are out of whack and not represented correctly on their menu board. I was just charged $2.92 for a water. The board says the price is $1.39 without tax on the board. I'd rather go parched. So for 1 donut and 1 water it was $4.14. Way too much. Additionally, it would be helpful to receive the total at the speaker so we can get our change ready and not delay you. I would have told you to take the water off and not waste your walk to the cooler. Never again will I get a water from here. They're also way too big. Wondering if they have two sizes and why there is a discrepancy from what I read and what I was charged. If there is, the primary question should be what size? I just needed the water to take my morning pills. It's more expensive than the convenience store. read more

I first had Kolaches in Kansas City and it rocked my world. The world Kolache is a Czech word for wheels or rounds. I believe they also stuffed the sweet dough with various savory fillings! Shipley Donuts has a diverse menu with plenty to satisfy everyone in the car going through the drive through. Shipley's Donuts is a very new establishment which is probably the reason I never see many vehicles there. That said with my kids in town, we decided to try Texas Kolaches and were we disappointed. First the good as my Bavarian crème filled bar was really tasty, soft and a great filling. My daughter got the apple fritter which was extremely tasty as well. Soft yet in spot crunchy with plenty of apple flavor, not necessarily pieces, to keep the whole pastry interesting. After selecting the sweet, we scanned the menu for a ham, egg and cheese Kolaches. I asked the "menu of many items" and the board replied back, oh we don't do that. After eating them I think I know why. So, there aren't many options, some options that seem logical and would sell like hot cakes! (sorry for the pancake reference as a donut shop). The way they made their pastries makes me cry. It's probably the laziest way of creating them. Roll up ham, in a little cheese inside the pastry. The customer doesn't get much in the way of meat, several bites miss the meat and the cheese is pretty limited. Next the sausage and cheese kolache and it was worse. A lame hotdog inside a small cheesed pastry. I will add the dough itself is extremely flavorful with a touch of sugar I've come to expect. As a former chef and tried Kolache's from many different states I might add a few suggestions. First make it like a traditional round. Next stuff it with chopped up items, not rolled up meat. This makes for a more satisfying experience as more of the stuffing will be in every bite. Finally more options and if the number one options like Ham, Egg, and Cheese isn't on the menu, time to fix that. Those three are like the breakfast trinity. Egg, Cheese and a meat are always popular. On and to add, when boxing a big order, separate the items. Either mark it on the lid, wrap it fancy like or and the best solution, when making the Kolaches, put a piece of the unique meat on top, so customers can easily identify their food, instead of guessing. This almost caused WW3 in the car with my two kids. So in wrapping this up, I was underwhelmed to say the least. Now the restaurant looked clean, the people nice, the service was fast and the ingredients were tasty. However, the execution leads a lot to be desired. My return patronage will be dictated on what is the object of the visit and location. I can't see myself going out of the way to stop by here and if I did it would be for donuts only. Ultimately, if you want great donuts, try them out however if the itch is Kolaches, I suggest somewhere else. read more

First of all, I have been eating Shipley Donuts at many Houston locations for decades. My favorite is the Apple Fritter. This particular store makes them different from the Houston 34th St & N.Main locations. I bought two, really anticipating bringing up recent yummy memories, but ended up having to not finish mine. The outside taste and texture was the same goodness, but there was so much dough inside that they were just different. They were large , but MUCH thicker, with just too much inside dough. I'll skip this location from now on. Oh well. On the positive side, the employees were VERY friendly. read more

Had a nail appointment and Shipley Donuts is in the plaza so I thought I'd try them. As recommended by my nail tech, I tried a jalapeño and cheese kolache. We love the competitors donuts so I had to get a sample of those. I got a bear claw for him and a cake with chocolate icing for me. He loved the kolache, even better than the competitors, but the competitors donuts taste fresher. The staff greets me as soon as I entered the store and when I exited which was great. And the store was very clean, and cheery. So we will be back for sure! read more

Whatever they use to clean the inside of their store or floors is too strong. You can smell the disinfectant or cleaning supply smell when they open the window at the drive through. It was especially strong today, and two of my donuts even tasted like it today! Literally tasted like I was eating cleaning supplies, and I had to throw out my donuts. Please use an unscented floor wash or whatever you are doing. That's wild that the donuts are absorbing the smell. read more

The food is always great no matter what time you drop by. The service is on point and generous, and you never really have to wait.

Slowest service I've ever seen. 13 cars in the drive thru. Literally taking orders and handing the food out one car at a time. Have been stuck in the drive thru for over 20 minutes with no way out but to wait for everyone. And staff couldn't care less. This is ridiculous. Will never visit this place again. read more

The service on weekday mornings before 7am is great. Donuts are fresh and a hit at work. I do have some miscommunication with the donut master because I continue to have those weird cereal topped donuts after asking that they not be included in the mixed box. This must be a Kyle thing to put cereal on donuts. If nothing else it does wake up the team for an ice breaker. read more
