New World Bakery is a hidden gemI have frequented since about 2011. It has evolved from a small bakery outlet with one small desk and the receptionist/cashier tending to all customers coming in to buy the extra bread for he day. They have all kinds of bread from dinner rolls to a wonderful sourdough loaf. I would be writing for days listing all the breads they bake. The actual bakery is right behind the outlet store. I finally had a day off and went to the bakery that I heard so much about. I really wanted to look around but also could use a loaf of French bread and some bagels. I got there around noon and there was not much left. The employee greeted me and said they had a lot of people there that morning and it was picked over. I didn't take pictures because it wasn't much to see. I ended up getting a peaches and cream danish and a cherry and cream danish. I took them to my hubby because he had the sweet tooth. He did not really care for them. If I go back, it will be earlier in the morning and I will try something else. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the fare offered in this little shop in the back of a warehouse miniplex. Delicious pastry, fresh bread & chips, and even some sandwiches. The staff was easy going and even gave me a peek at why they are in a warehouse. This bakery manufactures and delivers to several local restaurants and even some school districts. Ask permission first, but I was tempted to buy a little bread and feed the koi out front. read more

Every time I come in the pastries are fresh and there is a nice variety if you get in early. The staff are always friendly and if you're lucky enough you can sometimes catch their sourdough loaves for 2.00 each. My best discovery in awhile! We are weekly visitors. read more

Loved this place. And...it's just a couple miles from my granddaughter's home. Nice shop, friendly helpful staff and good baked goods. Bought 5 salted pretzels, Almond Bear Claw, Apple Turnover, Cheese Danish and a Pecan Plait. All delicious. We actually exited and went right back in for a loaf of "Good & Grainy Pullman bread. The prices are very reasonable. Will visit here the first day on our next trip. Don't waste time as we did the day before going miles away to the oldest Texas Bakery promising German baked goods. Been here a few times for either cookies, pastries or bread. They make a variety of breads, pastries, cookies, and even tortilla chips. The breads comes in half or full loaves and pastries and cookies are sold individually. All of their baked goods are pretty good but my favorites so far have been their everything bagel and chocolate croissant. The croissant was super tasty filled with some dark chocolate which paired nicely with the coat of powdered sugar on the croissant. The croissant itself soft and semi flaky, a perfect companion to my coffee. The everything bagel was pretty large, covered with everything seasoning. I was able to barely fit it into the toaster. Unlike other bagels i've had, this one still kept most of its spices after being toasted. This toasted bagel was a nice vehicle for the thin layer of cream cheese I added to it. The bagel, I must say, was perfect. I've had their sourdough bread and it's pretty good. They have so many varieties of bread that there's something for everyone. The one that keeps eluding me is their jalapeno cheese loaf. I need to start camping out there just so I'm able to get my hands on one. read more

I would have really liked to leave a positive review, unfortunately that can't be the case here. My very first order with them was for a specific type of hotdog bun. We had an event the evening of pick up. Go to pick up, wrong order, wrong bread type. Was told how sorry they were and we were refunded. Unfortunately for us sorry doesn't fill the order we needed that day and had to scramble last minute to find a large amount of buns. Mistakes happen, it was super inconvenient but it happens. We decide to put our trust in them yet again, this time you would think they would make sure everything was on par. That was not the case. When we arrived they shorted us a few bags, I was assured this was the correct type of bun. It wasn't, nor were they cut. So once again we are left high and dry scrambling. Unprofessional and no customer service. I was told " Shortages" happen bc it's all made fresh. So if I pay for a full order and don't get it, it's on me? Would not recommend if you are a business owner and depend on receiving the product you order. Terrible customer service. read more

My husband went here today and was treated terribly by a lady at the front desk because another worker asked him a question and he answered...He literally just answered the other workers question and this lady got all rude about him answering a question. Like what? Having a bad day? Don't take it out on your customers! We were starting to make this our go to bakery but with the awful attitude of that one lady, we won't be coming back. read more

When COVID first made finding bread impossible a friend told me about New World. Now my whole family is obsessed. Their Baurenbrot and Jewish Rye are our favorites. They are a family owned business and have gone above and beyond for their customers. During this last week of freezing cold and power outages they have stayed late and even opened on Saturday to make sure everyone was able to get some fresh bread. Fresh baked bread every day (Mon - Fri) for $2.50 a loaf is unbeatable! I have been coming here, since my coworkers told me about New World Bakery, just to pick up bread and cookies for my week. My BF and I get so much delicious fresh baked bread super cheap and whatever we don't make it through and eat we save and freeze (which these breads freeze very well btw). No preservatives and no extra gunk in these breads at New World Bakery just makes us swoon! On Wednesdays they have jalapeno pretzel bread along with other treats during the week. I highly recommend "liking" them on all things social media where you can find them as they are super great about keeping you updated on what types of breads and treats they have daily. Also be sure to ask for a punch card especially if you live in the area and/or plan to come back (which you will) as you get a free loaf of bread after purchasing 9 loaves! read more

Food: This place smells so good when you walk in! It's a gluten infused wonderland! Actually, the place is a surplus section of their bakery, they MOSTLY do wholesale like multi packs of hamburger buns, breads, etc. The little store they have setup is for some overproduced items, so the selection varies from day to day. I will say I was a LITTLE disappointed walking in because there is a picture of a sandwich on Yelp, so I thought they had all sorts of stuff, but when I came in, I realized that they ONLY have baked goods. That said... the German chocolate cake was the bomb! It was a tiny portion too which was great. They also have these giant pretzels which I thought were cool... and also delicious! It's a shame I am TRYING (big emphasis there) to stay away from carbs... because I would have tried everything. Atmosphere: It's not a "restaurant" inside, it is basically a cute assortment of over produced goods that they put on display to sell. Still, it's cute inside, as nice as a place could be that really isn't catering to single events, such as a person walking on their lunch break! :) Price: Fresh bread for 5$ is not a bad deal. Plus - they have jalepeno loaves! I would have loved to buy one of those, but I couldn't eat the whole thing in 3 days. I think if you buy in bulk, their prices are even cheaper. Support local businesses! You go to a place like this so you expect to pay a little more for baked goods than a typical grocery store, but it's worth it. Service: The lady that helped me up front was very nice and she was juggling phone calls while giving me the low-down on the place. There were a bunch of people working in offices too, you could tell they were all busy, which was a good thing to see. Overall: I would come back to buy some bulk stuff. I guess the only negative is that I thought they had more than bakery stuff from what I saw online, so that was a little deceiving. Wow! We are new in the area, having moved from Hawai'i and staying in Kyle while our house is being built (slow process...but that's for another post perhaps). Every time we take the exit past Yarrington Rd. heading north on I-35, we always see the sign for fresh bread off Frontage Road. The street seems to be populated by industrial buildings and it was something of a leap of faith to continue on...hoping we would be rewarded with some freshly baked yummy bread at the end of the road. And there it was, New World Bakery. The bakery scratch bakes various breads daily, delivering them to restaurants in the surrounding areas. The items they don't deliver, they sell at their retail store...for a mere $2 a bag! Yep, you heard that right. For a dozen freshly baked ciabatta bread we made egg, cheese and bacon sandwich with this morning, we paid just $2! They also bake pretzels every Tuesdays and Thursdays...coming out of the oven by 10:30 in the morning. Guess we'll have to come back for that. They had all sorts of artisan breads and even some muffins and cookies. I wasn't able to take any pictures because we felt like we stole the ciabatta bread for $2 that we wanted to make sure we made a quick getaway...lest they realize they charged us for less than they wanted. I was initially hesitant to share this review as my wife and I didn't want the world, or at least the residents of Kyle and San Marcos, to know about this place...but in the end, like a juicy secret...I just had to tell somebody...everybody. I wanted to support my local businesses during this COVID pandemic. I have always wanted to try this place as they supply bread to lots of local restaurants, which is cool. They have a website that lists some of their items. I wish it was not so cryptic. It is hard to see what is available and was is not. There are some random posts about "daily" specials. I took my kid with me and we popped in. You have to stand behind a yellow plastic chain. It is kinda hard to see what is available and was is not. They do not have any real display cases. I get it that they supply commercial and do offer some customer options. We got a selection of brownies, muffins and some breakfast roll. The young lady working the front was very helpful. I am sure it drove her nuts with us asking, "What is that?" I would like to suggest they allow customer ordering online. That would streamline regular customers to place orders and knowing what is available for the day and what not. Also a menu would be nice rather than wander in where you can not really see what is what. Yes, FaceBook is nice, but you need to be more clear. Yes you have cookies and muffins available. How about listing everything you have that way we can make a plan? Overall a really cool bakery. Wish they had a little bit bigger presence for the non commercial consumer. read more

Delicious bakery items like croissants, bear claws, and a variety of breads. However, over the past few months of visiting this bakery I realized one lady that works the retail store is very nice and friendly while the other can be very rude. Today the lady that sits closer to the bakery display case was helping another customer when the other lady walked up and asked if I needed help. I let her know I was interested in some items in the display case, then the other lady responded with a very rude tone that she was with another customer. I politely let her know I understood, but I was just responding to the other lady (the one standing right next to her that asked me if I needed help). Rude lady looked at me and quickly snapped back by saying oh well he's first so I just have to wait. I would've understood if I was being rude and interrupting, but I was simply responding to the other worker NOT telling rude lady to help me right away. Then after helping the other customer the rude lady just walked away and left me hanging without saying anything. I was really happy when I found this place, but I won't be returning again. There's other options around and in a growing town like Kyle there will be plenty more to come. read more

The bakery was small but I still had several options to choose from. They focus more on wholesale bread than it being a bakery front. Regardless, I bought a large loaf of sourdough bread and a scone for around $5. The lady at the counter was sweet and very helpful as well. WOW, what happened to customer service? I manage a restaurant that they supply the bread for. When they didn't send an item we ordered, instead of saying "of course we will send that out tomorrow for you", it is "we have to have a minimum to send the missing item out to you". I met the minimum for my delivery and was shorted, therefore you should send the missing item whether a minimum is met or not. Part of running a business is keeping the customers happy especially when the customer wasn't in the wrong. read more
