05/30/24- Friday It's my first time at this location. Great customer service. Plenty of parking spaces. The one dozen donuts (regular) costed me 11 dollars something. The one in Frisco and McKinney cost 2 dollars more. I think this location has more options/ flavors. read more

Came here on a Thursday morning and wasn't let down. While I've never understood the hype behind Shipley's Do-Nuts, I can't deny they are good. I just feel I've had better donuts from hole in the wall donut stores that don't have nearly the reputation or notoriety that Shipley's does. During my visit, I had a Chocolate Iced donut, which looks like your typical chocolate glazed donut at most donut stores you go to. Then I had a chocolate glazed donut along with a dozen glazed donut holes. All in all, while the donuts were good, they tasted plain at the same time. A little to doughy too for my liking as well. The staff was very courteous though, and the neighborhood the store is located in is nice as well. Overall, I'd recommend to anyone in the Garland or nearby areas like Richardson! read more

Average coffee house donuts. I bought a half dozen for $4.75. You can mix and match regular and filled donuts; cinnamon rolls and apple fritters are not included in the mix. It was nice getting an Oreo topped donut without having to pay $3 like some other donut shops. They're pretty light yeast donuts - I ate 3.5 of them in one sitting. They had a pretty decent selection an hour before closing. Parking in the lot outside. I went here because I was in the area, but it's not a place I would go out of my way for. read more

We had Shipley's cater our doughnuts for the wedding and everyone loved it! It was soft and fluffy and a very easy process. The staff was attentive and made sure our custom order had exactly what we wanted on it. Just talk to them at least two months in advance. Tough to review this place. Why? Because with my upbringing in Houston, I HAVE to like Shipley's. But the other reason is because the family that runs this place really do work hard. What makes this place falls short are two things. The first is an industry-wide problem, and the second is my own. 1) Kolaches - while fully enclosed, the sausages were weak, boiled hot dog sausages, and definitely on the thin side. It wasn't enjoyable - so what I did was when I got home, I just switched it with the Bier Bratwurst that I had leftover - and d***, now we're talking! But yes, the kolaches are a weak point they're going to have to figure out how to fix on their own. 2) Donuts - my fault - I came in the afternoon. And it seems like they do a bulk of their businesses in the mornings. In the afternoon, the selection is smaller, and not only that - but frankly a bit more stale. Like I said, the family works hard, so they still had plenty of certain types of donuts to sell. So, when I ordered 3 donuts, she put in 5 donuts (I didn't notice until later), because she knew that they were not going to sell much more, and there's no way that they would make more donuts when they still had plenty. However, I would suggest to this family to just time the donut-making procedures throughout the day, so that the fresh ones would always be available. It did, at least, had that airy, collapsable Shipley's dough, and it did have the glaze that made me realize that it was in fact a Shipley's. Just, it wasn't the best Shipley's, and not even close. It would be good to see a serious Shipley's in town, one that is open 24 hours, with hot chocolate, and even beignets like a few places in Houston. Will that day come? Who knows. read more

If I could, I would give this location an extra half star. I'm a big fan of maple donuts, and their maple donuts were soft and delicious. Overall, what gave the positive score, was my girls really enjoyed their strawberry glazed donuts. Impressing them will impress me, so we'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Shipley's has a large selection of donuts and they all taste great. I appreciate that the jelly filled donuts are a good balance of jelly to dough making for a very tasty doughnut. I also love the chocolate filled chocolate doughnuts and the large kolaches. I walked out with 10 doughnuts and 4 kolaches for $18. If you are a late sleeper like I am on the weekends, then make sure you get there an hour or two before they close if you want to get jalapeno kolaches. They are open until 1:30 and usually have a good selection of everything until 12:30. After that you won't find much to choose from. read more

Was in town for a Wedding Shower and on the way back home, we had to stop by to grab us some donuts and Kolaches. We ordered half a dozen glazed, half a dozen of walnut, and half a dozen kolaches. The glazed donuts was so good, it just melted in my mouth. The walnut donut had just the perfect walnut to donut ratio. Of course after having two donuts, I was just about full but I had to try their Kolaches. It was great. The sausage was warm and bread was soft and moist. The service was great. EXCEPTIONAL customer service (owners are the sweetest) AND their donuts and kolaches are the best in town! Called and inquired about custom letter donuts. They mentioned they particularly don't make letter donuts but said they can make it happen with no extra charge. For the owner to go out of their way at the request of a customer means they really care about making their customer happy. Nevertheless, the letters came out perfect! They even made multiple letters of each one because they said it kept on coming out okay and they wanted to make each letter perfect for the special occasion (my son's first bday). Believe it or not but on Saturday mornings I used to be and sometimes still am the "soccer mom" for my little cousins. I'd battle my hangovers by grabbing some shipley's in the morning before going to their early morning games. The staff here are Laotian too so they are super nice and patient. I usually go for the jalapeno sausage kolaches. Most jalapeno kolaches I've tried at other doughnut shops are not spicy at all and there may be one or two slices of jalapenos found but the ones here are filled with chopped up pieces that you can taste it in every bite. Yes that's right I need my spice in the morning too! They keep them very warm so when you bite into the soft dough the sausage inside is even warmer and the melted cheese just oozes out. mmm. Their doughnuts are good and they usually always have a large assortment of each kind. I just hate it when I'm craving a certain flavor and the shop is all out but that's never happened here for me! read more

I like my donuts fluffy and with a moderate amount of sweetness. So if your preferences differ from mine, you may want to get another opinion. When I walked into the store, there were barely any donuts on display. All I saw were a few glazed ones, cinnamon ones, and the twisty things. I was disappointed because I really wanted some chocolate covered ones. Luckily I asked if they still had any. The lady at the counter said they did and disappeared to the back to get me some. It hit me as strange that they would have donuts available yet leave their display looking bare and empty, but hey, whatever. I ended up getting some glazed donuts along with the chocolate topped ones. Well when I got to my car I couldn't wait any longer so decided to have a few. I was pretty disappointed with what I got. The donuts tasted somewhat stale and were waayy too sweet. There was so much glaze and chocolate, it was overpowering. The chocolate donuts appeared like they got chocolate frosting (the kind you get at the grocery store for cake) and just slabbed some on top. It was everywhere... and really messy to eat. Is that how the usual chocolate topped donuts are?? Anyway. I think depending on your preferences, you may like the place. However, it's not for me. Was craving for some type of bread and ended up here. I expected a place with a famous name should be good. But boy was I wrong!!! I got the kolaches, donut holes, and small cake donuts. Yeah I know sounds like ten pounds right? Like I said I was craving for something like bread. Once I bit into the kolache I was shocked, not because it was darn good but because the sausage was only 10% of the kolache. The rest was just yucky bread... If you go to other places they put a regular size sausage and the bread itself actually has a taste to it. Hoping that the donuts would be good I tried the donut holes. They were so good I just ate one. Not really they weren't good at all... disappointment #2 Luckily I bought more than one item, my last item which were the small cake donuts tasted okay. The chocolate frosting is topped on high so it was pretty sweet and the donut itself was just like a normal cake donut. My husband had shipleys before we were married and told me these donuts were good. I ordered the cherry icing donut. It had a faint cherry flavor which was satisfying but didn't care too much for it. I also got a few other donuts for family. I ordered the cinnamon twist, and blueberry donuts. I didn't get to try the blueberry filled donuts since they were for other members. I tried the cinnamon twist and it had a good cinnamon flavor. Overall, I think shipleys is alright. There are other donut shops better. read more

I have loved Shipley's pretty much my entire life. When I was in grad school at Texas A&M I worked as a learning specialist for student athletes. On Fridays I would go and get several dozen donuts to feed my football boys. They were unbelievable. As another reviewer suggested, the trademark Shipley's donut is light, airy and collapsible. They have this sweet almost vanilla flavor. When they are done well, there is almost no real need to chew, simply let them melt. These were not that. They were purchased early in the morning, so I can't let time be an issue. They were bricks, super heavy and tasted absolutely nothing like the Shipley's recipe. At first I wondered if the grease was too old, which I can forgive. But there was too much wrong with the texture, and getting past the grease there was simply nothing aside from shape that would lead me to guess Shipley's. I even said to my partner, this tastes like something that has been sitting out at 7/11 and I'm eating it simply to stay alive. The workers were very sweet so I give them lots of credit for that. However, they need to fix the donuts or change the name. read more

Step aside other reviewers, it's time for the expert to review! I've been coming here since I could barely walk, and NO other donut place does it as good as Shipley's. The staff here are amazing and are more than happy to make you a donut if they're out. I like my donuts fluffy and with non-flakey icing, and no one does it better than Shipley's. The cherry iced with sprinkles are my personal favorites and it's hard to find elsewhere as well. It doesn't matter if you like eclairs, apple fritters, or chocolate iced donuts - everything is good here. No matter where I move in Dallas, I will drive this distance to continue coming to this location as its by far the best! read more

Shipley has the best Donuts in the neighborhood. There donuts are consistently fresh, fluffy, and soft. If you get the sugared varieties sometimes they will put the sugar on when you order it. There is a donut shop withing walking distance of where I live, but Shipley is worth driving the few extra blocks. read more
