When you first walk in you'd think that it was just an everyday donut shop. I almost decided not to get a donut, because, it looked like Krispy Kreme donut. But, it was far from it! We got an Apple fritter and a maple donut. They were both fluffy, light, and airy on the inside, with a crunchy crispy outside. The apple fritter was more like a bear claw with filling in the center. It tasted like a fluffy apple pie. Absolutely delicious! The maple donut had deep caramel notes with a nutty sweet maple glaze. It was incredibly delicious! They were efficient and fast! So maybe it was just a bad day because the rest of the reviews look okay but GOODNESS IT WAS TERRIBLE, greasy, unwelcoming, cleaned out! I LOVE Shipleys and we do not have one where we live so I was so excited to come and get a kolache and glazed donut. Granted it was 10am on a Sunday so a little late to be grabbing donuts (I didn't expect hot ones for sure) but they aren't suppose to close until 12 and you would have thought we walked in 1 minute before closing. The staff was extremely unhappy to be there and seemed annoyed with us even coming in, I even wanted a coffee and decided against it because I didn't want to get the feeling of inconveniencing them further... the chairs were all up on tables where you couldn't even sit down and they were out of almost everything (which again, later in the AM I would expect somewhat but past that the Do-Nuts looked and tasted gross. I have NEVER not finished a Shipley donut and I threw it away, unfinished. So not the way Shipley donuts normally are. They were dense, overcooked, greasy smelling and tasting. I've been going to Shipley's since I was a little kid. I just can't find a chocolate filled that will ever top theirs! When I come home I always love to make a stop and grab some donuts. I have lived in Alabama, Texas, Georgia and Mississippi and have not found a donut shop as good as this. Anytime I can find one, this is where I go. A hot Shipleys glazed donut is the absolute best. You can sit and watch them making them as well. read more

Shipley's donuts are just amazing everywhere and so cheap! I just love these donuts, so happy they are in a city I grew up in! This location can be missed if your not familiar with the area. It is in the shopping plaza of Kroger and right beside Zaxby's. There is also a drive through if you are not trying to go in. I love the cinnamon twist donut and the regular glaze donut. The only thing is they stop making donuts after a certain time of day, so if you want a special flavor get there early! read more

These donuts are pretty darn good! They are flaky and crispy and the glaze has that familiar taste of butter! It's a heart-attack waiting to happen! In the best way of course! The workers are so friendly and will tell you exactly what kind of fillings everything is made with! I love Shipley's because it has the home town Donut Shop feel... Shipley's. How I love thee. I am a huge fan of donuts. I can probably eat a dozen by myself. It's a wonder I have any self-control at all. Haha. The donuts here can range from o-kay to delicious depending on if you can get them fresh and fluffy. Get there early in the morning and you'll have some great donuts to consume. Get there when they're about to close and well good luck. I don't discriminate when it comes to donuts and I love them flat or fluffy. However, fluffy is preferred. I enjoy the chocolate with sprinkles and typical glazed. The coffee here is not bad. Service is great. They also have a "to go" window which is really convenient when you can't bother to get out of your car lol. I'm sad I never got a mug from here. The donuts are absolutely yummy, especially if you like an original taste that isn't dry and tough like the deli/bakery at the grocery stores. I would chose these over the mass produced pastries at Krispy Kreme that are only edible when they are burning hot and with seemingly melt in your mouth. This shoppe also has one of my favorites which is a Strawberry jelly-filled donut. Don't expect great customer service; this place can truly benefit from some beautifully groomed, smiling faces. read more

They never have what I want available even in morning hours. They don't even offer half of the flavored that most other Shipley's offer. They always wrap all the donuts together so the icing is a mess and all over each other. The workers always seem to be in a bad mood. read more
