This place was our go to every Sunday for our kid. They used to be really good. Now they are not. They doubled their prices and give you less donut. The chocolate filled donuts went from overflowing with chocolate to being about a tsp of chocolate. I swear the donuts are smaller now too. Half the time apple fritters are burnt. I've definitely gotten a day old donut from time to time. Their donuts in general taste stale. Basically they are cutting corners and you can tell. I go to this location as it has a drive thru. The donuts are good and fresh; however, like a lot of locations, they only serve those gross cinnamon overdosed apple fritters (you can tell them by how super dark brown they are as opposed to golden brown) and have decided to no longer make chocolate iced Bavarian filled bars with pecans on top. Do they still make chocolate iced Bavarian filled bars? Yes! Do they still have pecans and use them on other donuts? Yes! They have just decided at this point not to marry the two and if you ask them to just give you or sell you some pecans with a chocolate iced Bavarian bar they look at you like you have two heads. However, the traditional, original donuts are always fabulous. (Hint: go early in the morning to get them hot, fresh and just out of the oven). They are very ill prepared for big orders for a franchise with high traffic. I went by this morning to get two dozen kolaches for the office. I don't think that's a large order at all I needed 1 1/2 dozen Jalapeño and 1/2 dozen just sausage and cheese well needless to say I walked out 4 kolaches short and an assortment of whatever she decided to give me. Now that didn't really upset me and I get it if they don't have it they don't have it. What upset me was the lady helping me unaware that I'm perfectly bilingual tells her coworker with a nasty attitude "Go back there and tell him to make more sausage and cheese and jalapeño because this little girl bought all of them and left us with absolutely nothing, nothing at all for the other customers" ok I'm sorry ma'am that I purchased items for sale and you did not make enough that's not my issue. Will never be going back. Go across the street to the family owned donut shop the dozen is cheaper anyways and they always have more than enough stuff ready to go. read more

Came here with a Groupon. I Passed the Place up twice. This place is not a traditional Shipleys Donuts Exterior (see Pic) This place is 5 seconds from the Bellaire and Bissonnet intersection. Be ready to make the Right hand turn into a strip center. This place was really busy on a Saturday Morning. The place has a lot of table and chairs.. The service is fast. The donuts are hot and Fresh. A very good selection. Love the Cake Donuts with the chocolate glaze and walnuts sprinkled on top. read more

This Shipley's location is frustrating. It is very hit or miss when receiving fresh donuts and kolaches. For example, today I went at 8:15am and was told fresh warm glazed donuts would take 45 minutes (it wasn't busy at all). So I had to get cold donuts. Tragic. I also wanted a dozen kolaches (only two were left and it would take about 25 minutes for fresh). This seems to be consistent issue, I try to be positive when I visit but typically the same result. It's convenient for me since I live on the edge of Bellaire. The best locations in SW Houston are 1) 288 and Holcombe, 2) Stella Link, 3) Fuqua and Edgebrook. read more

I have grown fond of my Shipley's in Austin, TX, so this review is in comparison to that one. First off your place looks pretty gritty, which I can appreciate a hole in the wall Do-nut shop, but your not that, your Shipley's. Number two, maybe I just assume all of you use the same coffee, but you don't cause your coffee was different...in a bad way. I ordered a Chocolate Cream filled and what was given to me had no taste of chocolate and the shade of brown was dim enough to assume it was a regular do-nut, which it was not. I did like the Kolache, but not enough to stop by again. read more

Shipleys does a pretty good job, earlier in the day they are softer and later on the day they are more firm and have a slight crunch when you bite into the dough like a good piece of bread. So many dognuts, so few reviews. How can you live in Houston/Bellaire and not like Shipley's. I love this place and just in case you don't know, they have an apple fritter without that nasty filling. This Shipley's is very unsanitary. They have a very bad roach problem. I went there one morning..very early. I placed my order for some hot glazed do-nuts.While waiting for my order, I noticed 2 roaches INSIDE of the glass case where the cake do-nuts were...I told the employee and pointed them out to her...she simply grabbed a napkin and gathered it inside and gave me an apology...mind you she was only able to grab one. I left out totally disgusted...ALL of those do-nuts in that case should have been thrown out immediately! read more
