Hey guys, Nice brewery on LBI. Unfortunately they are currently serving sub par beer. Those 2 beers were actually the same beer. When asked why they look different they answered one of them is probably old. They wouldn't replace it for something that wasn't old and gone bad. Replying to Brian C. We had a similar experience yesterday. It was noon and the waitress told us "no kids" outside. The bartender then said "it's okay if it's before 4". Waitress threw her hands up in irritation. Was rude the entire time. My sister and her boyfriend then joined after, wearing masks, following social distance guidelines, not drinking because under 21. Waitress AGAIN gave us such a hard time about sitting with people under 21. She rolled her eyes multiple times. So rude. My parents were there, everyone knew who could drink and who couldn't. We just wanted to sit and chat and eat some food and those who could have a beverage would. Anyways. Ship Bottom Brewery has an absolutely fabulous location right in the middle of Downtown Beach Haven. There is a lot going on there, and it complements the other attractions well. The atmosphere is gorgeous. LBI needs more funky establishments where you can grab a beer. I am so tired of all the lackluster taverns that have not been updated since the 1962 Nor'easter. Finally Ship Bottom Brewery is here. The night we went they had a small band playing, and I really enjoyed it. My mom came along, even though she doesn't like beer, and she was able to enjoy watching the sunset and listening to the music, while I enjoyed the beers. I like how the flight came in a mini-surfboard. The stout was delicious and effervescent. I have had it before in the can, which I bought from my local liquor store in Toms River. The other beers could use improvement, however. The hefeweizen tasted a little too much like Lemon Pledge for my liking. The Blood Orange tasted like the Shoprite brand orange creamsicle. Next time I go I will still with glasses of the stout. I will be back. read more

I still remember the day last year that we were finally able to taste their beer. After stalking their opening for gosh, 3 months maybe. That year and 3 months feels like a lifetime ago as Ship Bottom beer, their staff, and the location, is equivalent to friends, family, and home. Soooo much logistically has changed since first opening, but our experience visiting Ship Bottom, weather just chilling during off season, or barely snagging the last open stools at the bar in prime time on season, is always consistently awesome. They do not brew a bad beer. Their homage to where they are from is heart felt and makes their beers that much better. Their Wave flights at $10 for 4 pours, is the perfect way to see what all their brews are about and find the right ones for you. They can up their offerings togo, as well as they jumped on the Crowler bandwagon. If you are old school enough to have a Ship Bottom growler, they will happily still fill that as well but the Crowler is the new wave. Yeah you gotta "take a tour" but that's the rule for breweries in The JerZ so suck it up you complainers. This is a nice addition to the shopping plaza. Didn't realize you have to take a tour to drink beer. I missed that, walked right in, and added a beer to my friend's tab. They said it lasted less than a minute. If it's mandatory, then you should make it short. Looking at giant metal drums and pipes is not all that interesting to begin with. My friends all had flights going and would like or not like this one or that for whatever reason. I ordered the hefenweizen. I liked my beer. It's a good light summer drink on a hot day because that's exactly what it was. They have a small bar, picnic bench tables, high tables at the windows, and small, low tables against the wall. There were quite a few families playing oversized Jenga. The jenga games come in different sizes depending on how bold you are. People also had brought their own food. I did notice that they had a bunch of boxes and other miscellaneous materials up against a back wall that seemed like it should have belonged somewhere else. It would have made a more clean looking space and more room for the existing or added tables. Overall, this is great space for a variety of age groups and seems to be successful. My husband and I had a day date to Ship Bottom during a recent visit to Long Beach Island. My brother in law offered to watch the kids and we took full advantage by going to have some beers! This brewery is located right next to Fantasy Island amusement park. It is in a touristy area and is a nice break from some of the cheesy shops nearby. I enjoyed the atmosphere of this brewery. It's a great spot to enjoy some cold ones and a good break from the hustle and bustle of the island. I went for a flight and enjoyed all of the beers I tried. My husband tried a couple IPAs and enjoyed them both. Not much more to say than that, but if you're a craft beer person it is a great place to try out! read more

The space was bright and open which was nice and the bartender was both attentive and open to answering questions. I really wanted to like this place more, but after trying a flight of beer each , my brother and I agreed there isn't one beer here that we really liked. They bring in live bands and have Jenga to play, so I thought I had found my home. It's my 25th summer on LBI and I'm so happy to see a brewery has come to the island. We tried the beers a little earlier in the week and took an excursion down the beach haven to try them in a larger group. Love the relaxed vibe and long communal tables. We got there late and only got about 2 hours there, but the beer was tasty and the ambience was laid back. We brought cards along and played rummy while we drank our beers. The only disappointments were that they closed so early and that even though they have 10 beers, only 4 or 5 were on tap so we couldn't try all of them. We were in LBI and wanted to check out some of the local spots so we came here. They offered a tour of the brewery and educated us on how the beer was made in house and then we got to sample a few flights at the bar afterwards! We got 8 beer flights for 17.50$ out of the 8 we chose there was only 1 I really didn't like. All the other ones were great! We had an awesome time and would recommend it to anyone here on vacation looking for something to do. read more

So the Ship Bottom Brewery isn't in Ship Bottom, who cares! Stopped in with some friends for A beer because I'm not driving from "up island" to catch a buzz and a DUI while on vacation. You order at the counter (or is it a bar?) and can sit and relax at one of the many tables inside. While there, they had live music. It was LOUD. I mean really loud, for no reason other than musicians go deaf so they turn up the volume thinking nobody else can hear them. I mean we couldn't even talk to each other cuz it was so loud. Anyway, lots of flights available and my IPA was good for a small micro brewery. Definitely will return next time I'm on LBI. read more

The beers were pretty good! The space seemed small, but was pretty full. There was entertaining live music, we were able to sing along, and it wasn't too loud as we could still hold a conversation and not feel drowned out. The flights seemed a little on the pricier side, $20 for 2 tastings if 4 beers each. The bar staff was busy with a lot of customers, but I can imagine if they weren't as busy, they would have been helpful in answering any tasting questions we may have had. When on vacation I like to try local micro brews. Had the flight sample and tried all the beers they had to offer. The one that stood out the most was the the porter made with coconut. Beer was good but it was full of noisy annoying kids! We arrived around 12:30pm and it seemed nice. We got a flight and most of the beers were great. Our server was very personable and had a strong knowledge of the beer. We left and went exploring in the bay village and down to the ocean for a while. When we returned around 230 pm it was a MADHOUSE!!! It was overcrowded and noisy and way too many kids for a brewery...I mean really why would you bring your kids to a brewery anyway??? There is really nothing for them in there! We slipped down the side facing the bay to get away from it and then a family of 7 came down there right next to us. Kids were ranging in age from a newborn to about 6. The baby was constantly crying and the rest of the kids were sitting on the floor clanking wooden bricks together....Sorry to say I don't think I will be back. read more

Shack IPA has been one of my favorite beers for years BUT NO LONGER. Had my wife pick up beer for me while in the area. Called the manager and asked when it was packaged. Mgr told me it was packaged "this week"! Decided to buy extra based on this info. Of course Ship Bottom doesn't date their beers. When I finally tried the beer 3 days later it was harsh with no hop flavor and a strong buttery diacytel flavor. Either the mgr lied or the recipe has SEVERELY changed for the worse. We've been dying to come here since they've opened, but every time we came down (during the off-season) they were closed. A flight of 4 beers of your choice costs about $10. Well worth it. They do not serve food, but there's plenty of places in the area that you can get take out & bring here. There is a bar area, and if you choose to just have a single glass of beer, you can. Very friendly staff. Awesome views, great beer, even better atmosphere. They offer 6 packs of their original beers to go. Authentic beer glasses and t-shirts are also available for purchase. Ship Bottom in Beach Haven is enough to go to hear the story. After seeing Asher and Bryan's review you might not want to but I can attest to the average rating of the facility. Can't speak to old beer, but can to finding most not too my liking which is why I head less than 5 miles back off the Island to Manafirkin Brewery. As for SBB, reviews seem about right as far as 3 good beers. I have found the same ones and the same quality to be true. And I will give them credit as well if you went to their facility pre-covid, it's a tight squeeze on the second floor. read more

Visited today, just a few weeks after opening. Negatives: Scanning driver licenses, horrible idea and I've never done it in any of the other 20 breweries I've visited, so that LCB excuse is pretty lame-o. Pricing. Only three 4-oz beers in the tasting, all pale ales, and $10! For a pint, prices were $6.50 for a 5% APA, $7.50 for a 7.5% IPA, and $10 for a 11.4% IPA. I've had lots of DIPAs in the 9-10% range, and I question the 11.4% number they are quoting. Also, the prices were not posted anywhere, so they could've just made them up. Positives: Nice place, good view. Get some more variety, and lower the prices and we might go back. read more

So so so many children there! It was impossible to sit and sample beers because all the tables were taken over by children, eating pizza from the place next door. You would not expect babies at a brewery. Not a fun place to hangout and drink, more of a family place, without enough seating to make it a family place...
