Shiok! Restaurant (near Grandview, Idaho) 2nd time here! ***** Even if you Don't like Asian food, you will before you leave here!

Food was EXCELLENT, service was GREAT!, food was MORE and BETTER THAN EXPECTED! And you get to talk to a real F15/F16 pilot! What a dinner! Ambiance was a little cool and Asian but felt very comfortable!

Like, excuse me? Seriously, what black magic do they put in this food? Like seriously, what culinary devil did they sell thier souls too to be able to pull off such magical food for such an unbelievable price.. The prefect blend of spice and sweet, this food is what I'd ask for of I had a last meal request. The General Tso chicken is beyond prefect. (Is that possible?) Everyone at my table tried my chicken and loved it. I mean, what's not to love in this culinary masterpiece. My wife got lo mien and absolutely 100% loved it. Our friend got the Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper sauce and the whole restaurant went quite when they brought it out, it was sizzling, loudly. Shiok! is an excellent place to drive to to enjoy wonderful Asian delight. Btw, the Airforce Base is right near by. If you are a fan of the incredible fighter, F-15 Eagle, this has a cute little tribute to the aircraft. Stop by, the woman who runs it is awesome and the food is worth it! *btw, weird thing to praise, but the sink in the bathroom, AWESOME! Like a water fall...*

We live in Boise and have been driving through Mountain Home many times on road trips and never heard of this restaurant before but so glad I googled the near by Asian restaurants and decided to give this place a try. It's a little far away from the main town but so worth the drive. The food was amazing, service was excellent, we ordered bubble tea, some noddle dishes and seafood plates. Food was freshly prepared, with good quality and quantity worth your money. Will definitely be back when we drive through the town again, too bad it's not in Boise, otherwise it will be so popular but lucky for the people of Mountain Home to have it.

The best food Mountain Home has to offer, the end! I've been here multiple time and it's always great. Their main server is very attentive and you won't leave hungry. The prices are fair, just keep in mind, this is not fast food. The decor is unique and pays homage to the local Air Force base and their international partners, so it's really cool just to look at the stuff on the wall! This is a must visit!

What makes this place unique is the fact that it's the only Singaporean restaurant within a 50-mile radius. It also seems like it's the only restaurant within a 10-mile radius. It's a welcoming oddity, really, given my destination is the Air Force Base nearby. SIL decided to have her birthday dinner here. It really is an unassuming place - nothing flashy or fancy. A few tables were occupied as our party of 8 walked in. I didn't really think that surprising considering it is the only eatery around here. We were seated and given the menus immediately. Big Bro, SIL, GodNephew and wife have been here, so they had a few recommendations. The rest I ordered out of curiosity. CALAMARI: Recommended as it should be. Good amount of seasoning and batter. It didn't need dip. It stood out perfect all on its own. This plate was clean almost in a heartbeat. SEAFOOD FISH MAW SOUP. Like the calamari, this was also recommended. I'm most likely going to skip it next time, though. It fell short with flavor and seasoning. It was so bland it was almost difficult to eat without soy sauce (which we had to ask for. For an Asian spot, this should be on the table already.) Barely saw any crabmeat or scallops either, so this is a thumbs down. MU SHU PORK: I guess I've been spoiled at other Chinese restaurants where the servers would do all the wrapping for you. But since this is a "WHEN IN ROME" moment, I didn't mind doing all that myself. The pork strips were sautéed, seasoned and prepped well. Lots of flavor, really tasty. The wrap is nothing more than a tortilla (on the contrary to the "Mu Shu" wrappers they claim them to be.) Despite that, though, I would still recommend it. TIP: Add a hint of Hoisin sauce before each bite and the overall taste gets elevated to a better level. SALT AND PEPPER PORK CHOP: Skip this. It is NOTHING like it should be. It really is just a thinly sliced pork chop deep fried until tough. Some of the pieces were fried so hard, they were inedible. Not recommended, not recommending. BEEF AND BROCCOLI: Nothing special. Mediocre at best, but delicious. SIZZLING BEEF WITH BLACK PEPPER SAUCE: Big Bro has had this and liked it, hence the recommendation. It wasn't bad! The sizzling part was just for show, but the seasoning and flavor is on point for this meat. It was also prepped tender. Nothing wrong with this. Recommended and recommending. SALTED FISH AND FRIED RICE: The only turn-off for me on this are the peas and carrots. That's a personal preference, I know. It's just I feel peas and carrots are just fillers.) The aroma and taste of the fish wasn't strong at all which kind downgraded the dish because that's what I expected to come through. Mediocre at best. HOUSE SPECIAL SEAFOOD NOODLES WITH XO SAUCE: Recommended and I would also recommend. They didn't skimp on the seafood. But what makes this dish is the sauce (it really is special.) There's a good kick in the end (but not so bad that it's unbearable) which gives this plate its specific and unique character. FOOD: 3.5. It's a hit and miss for a lot of their dishes. SERVICE: 3. There was only one server working the entire floor which made it difficult to flag her. She was being pulled 3-4 different ways at any given time. I was told it's always like that. VALUE: 3.5. Better than average. PARKING: Rocky and plenty. Not an issue. OVERALL: 3.25. Everything was, of course, made to order. That is always a plus. Another item I'm recommending: mango sweet tea. BOMB. Delicious? Sure. "Ridiculously" delicious? Not so much. Like I said, it's a hit and miss overall. (We came back to try their Thai milk bubble tea but was told no bubble teas were available. The owner is the only one who makes it and he happens to be in Singapore. I hope he's researching more eats to add on to his menu!) It was good enough for me to consider a come back should I find myself around here again. They do have a pretty good selection of dishes I'm still curious about. Might be awhile, though, if at all, since I'm from nowhere around here. Will update once a second visit pushes through.

We have FOUND our place for the perfect vegan meal close to home! Shiok offered some yummy appetizers and fresh veggie dishes. We were hungry so we ordered too much, but that's ok. The leftovers reheated perfectly the next day. The service was friendly and helpful. Customers were spaced out due to COVID and surfaces were cleaned right after use! Their kitchen door could use a good scrubbing, but the rest of the restaurant was spotless.

Went here with my parents the night before Thanksgiving. I've been here twice before when visiting and the food has always been tasty. This last time, the rice wasn't properly cooked. My dad and I both had some uncooked pieces in our bowl. Also, as you can see by my photo, there was a full mop bucket within view during the entire meal. I know that may seem a bit picky but it wasn't a pleasant addition to the ambience of the room.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Egg Flour Soup Rangoon and Roll

This is my Go-To place! I usually do take out and it's always still hot and fresh by the time I get home! I usually save some food for the next day for lunch. They really know how to bring the flavor out in their dishes and that's why I'm a reoccurring customer. Eating at this restaurant, not only are you a supporting a small business, but you are also getting great quality of food.

Best Asian restaurant in Idaho. The staff and the food is absolutely amazing. It's a bit out of the way but completely worth it.

I scheduled a sit to Taste for the first time for my social group. We were a group of 23 and when…read morewe got there they were totally ready for our visit. We were seated right away. I tried their newish lobster special, fried rice and fried green beans. All were Very tasty as was the unfiltered sake. Based upon our experience we are already planning another visit. We also enjoyed the live music from Harry Dial.

My cousin made us reservations for dinner at Taste last Saturday. We got all of our kids ready for…read moretheir prom and decided to have a prom moms dinner for ourselves. My sister and I showed up first. We got sat at a round table and chilled until the rest of our party showed up. After everyone got there, we all checked out the menu. There wasn't a real organized system between the employees that served our table. It was a reservation for 5 but only 2 menus and 2 waters were initially dropped off. After everyone got there, 2 more waters were brought out but not the 5th glass that was missing. Then we got an over abundance of menus when we just needed a couple more. It was a rough start. We finally got to order appetizers and dinner. I got the Asparagus Delight with extra chicken. My sister ordered Pad See Ew. My cousin got the Khao Soi with rice noodles. The two other prom moms got General's chicken and a sushi roll. For starters we got the fried green beans and calamari. The wait on the appetizers seemed long. Nothing is more annoying than not being able to enjoy your starter cause your dinner was right behind it. 2 fried green beans were brought out. We had to call the server and ask about the calamari. We were confused if that was 1 appetizer of fried green beans split into 2 plates for easier sharing or if it was actually 2 orders. Well, it was 2 orders so the extra portion was taken back. The calamari did come out shortly but was fast considering we waited so long initially for the appetizers come out. I didn't try the appetizers but from what was being said the fried green beans were good and they have had better calamari. As fast as that calamari came out, I'm sure it was prepared quickly. Not taking the normal time to actually prepare something that could turn into rubber if it's not cooked properly. Dinner came out shortly. My dish looked really good. There was bright green pieces of asparagus. A few hearty chunks of cauliflower. I noticed quite a few shrimp and a decent amount of chicken. My dish was good. The veggies were fresh and crispy. The sauce was on the sweeter side but still tasted good. The shrimp was tender but did have a fishy scent to them. The chicken could have been velveted. It was white meat and we all know white meat can lean towards the drier side. I think velveting could have fixed that. I did ask for extra chicken and in all honesty I don't think I really got the extra I had ordered. Service was decent. The timing of the appetizers and food could be worked on. Some communication between employees would have been nice for more organization. I came here for lunch and wasn't impressed with portion sizes and I will have to say I wasn't impressed with the dinner portion either. It's cool that I got to come back and vibe with my family tonight. It was busy so it's great to see that people are out supporting their local Asian restaurant. I unfortunately have such a high bar set from my family and growing up in this industry. I really wish this place would have met my expectations the second time around.
