I've been working with norm for a long time and everything has always worked out well. We recently moved out business and needed new lines for 110v and 220v installed as well as some bay lighting done. He worked with my budget and knocked out the work in one day which helped us get up and running asap. Thank you so much read more

Norm was finished within 24 hours of checking out what I needed, sending me a quote, and packed up. I needed 2 outlets installed above my fireplaces for some TV's and Norm quoted me fairly, worked quickly, and provided two clean outlets on each wall. I'd highly recommend Norm and his team. And he didn't ask me to write a review or hassle me for a tip like movers do! read more

Norm, Rey, and the team did a great job rewiring my home and adding fixtures. I have an old 1920's home with old knob and tube wiring. Called norm a month ago to get an estimate and he came the same day! His confidence with the rewire and patience with explaining details to me is what made me go with him. Once we scheduled the date to start, the crew came at 7 am sharp every day until the job was done. They made small holes in the walls for the rewire instead of gutting out everything like others would have. I am happy I made the decision to go with Shining Light. read more

They are always busy, but worth the wait. They arrive when they say they will, and are knowledgeable and speedy. Excellent service, and very reasonable prices! We have used them several times over the years. Highly recommend. read more

Shining Light Electric completed the rewiring of our house and we're a happy customer. Our house was built in the 1940's with knob and tube wirings. We called to get a quote and Norm came the following day to do the inspections. We felt comfortable with him right away because he didn't push us to do what he wants but instead he worked with us with what we have to meet our goals. Norm and his team - Hunter, Cody and Raymond-have done a fantastic job. They are on time, respectful, and very focused on their work. They answered any questions or concerns I had, discussed them with Norm and made sure they were addressed. The job was done in 3.5 days and at the end of each day, they clean up before leaving the house which I appreciated very much. Raymond was nice and kind enough to give me a walk through after the job was done, explained the rewiring process and flow, and labeled the circuit panel for easy identification. The satisfactory level of service provided by the shining Light Electric team is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Shining Light Electric for your electrical needs!! read more

After the power went out in half of my house, on a Saturday, Norm took my call, asked me several diagnostic questions and ultimately referred me to call Southern California Edison as he believed it might be on their end. This was not something that I would've even thought of since I had, some power, and as a relatively new homeowner, this was a vital lesson for me going forward. Norm did take the time to schedule of his guys to come out on a Sunday morning for half the price I was quoted from two other companies, but ultimately the time Norm took on the phone call, equipped me with the info I needed to Elevate this to SCE. It's not often you come across a company, so honest because he could've easily charged me a diagnostic fee. If that's what his goal was I'm saving his number and giving it to my neighbors due to his generosity and honesty. read more

I needed one outdoor outlet installed for a water softener system I'm installing. Norm showed up right on time, and completed the job fast. Clean and very professional to say the least. I'd recommend him for any of your electrical needs. Brian read more

I have to say this fine gentleman got me a quote to install a 240v outlet to my garage during a rainy day and came out great. I wanted to have a dryer in my garage and his prices were more than fair compared to trying to get a gas line done. He saved my day and no problems whatsoever. read more

Just call them. Stop your search NOW and call Norm and Jeff. If you're like me and need help with your electrical services, they're your go to guys. Very helpful, professional and most importantly, solved my problems. What is probably most deserving of their 5 star review is they truly cared vs previous experiences I've had with electricians where they've just left my place in a mess, Norm and Jeff made sure everything was all set to go before leaving. Just stop your search now and call them. read more

Norm is a super great guy! He's honest works carefully and charges reasonably. So grateful to have found a good electrician! He was recommended to me by 2 people. Rest assured you will be treated fairly. read more

The beginning of our experience was rocky, they had lost our appointment and did not show up as scheduled. But they found people to come later that day and finished the job in a timely and efficient matter. Their end price matched their estimate, which we find rarely happens. We would use them again, but maybe remind them of our appointment beforehand, just in case! read more

I needed an electrician for my mother's house. She is recently widowed and lives by herself. The issue was a live wire in the bathroom. I had no idea what this would entail or the cost. They came out the next day and fixed the problem for very inexpensive. I will be using them again because they are attentive and honest. read more

We had Norm here today to do a series of electrical work on our condo. We had agreed on what work and ballpark price ahead of time. He arrived within the timeframe he'd promised, and brought an assistant with him to speed the process up. Within minutes, the two were already tackling all issues. Norm assessed one of the issues I had and politely suggested we don't do it, that it wasn't necessary (which is a great show of honesty in my opinion!). Another one (a faulty outlet) turned out to be working fine (somehow), but he did check thoroughly before moving on. They then addressed the two main issues we had: changed the light fixture on our dining room, and fixed a non-working ceiling light on our bedroom - both done quickly and efficiently. Norm also fixed a problem in our laundry room in 3 minutes - the vent and the power were connected in the same switch, making us always turn the vent on whenever we needed to use get in the windowless laundry room - that had been annoying us since we first moved! In the end, their service was extremely friendly, polite, professional, fast, and he ended up charging us less than he'd originally estimated (we did add a tip as a thank you, of course!) Will definitely be calling/emailing them for future electrical work here in Long Beach/Belmont Shore! read more

4.5-5 stars! Norm was quick to come out, offered a very fair and competitive quote then started work soon thereafter. We've had a few contractors out to work on the house and those experiences ranged from nightmare to incredibly frustrating. But not with Norm! We had the entire house rewired as well as some little projects and it was all done well and quickly. He even let me be nit-picky with little "after the job" things and kept a smile on while making everything perfect. I am truly impressed. I would stand as a positive reference for Norm any day. Don't waste your time with less honest, lower quality contractors. read more

I contacted this company for a troubleshooting job on some outlets that weren't working, and they were able to send someone out two days later. Aaron was on time, nice to deal with, was able to find the problem and fix it in a short time at a reasonable cost and taught me some things along the way. Will definitely contact again for electrical work! read more

I had the chance to use Shining Light Electric recently. I had chosen their business after reviewing the wonderful Yelp reviews (this was my first time trying a Yelp reviewed business). When I first called Norm, he explained that he had to go back East and that he would be sending out one of his guys. The person that came to our house was super friendly, fixed our problem within an hour and was nice enough to even offer a solution that we could do to fix a lamp issue. Norm followed up with a verification that everything was completed successfully. I have told several of my neighbors that in the future, should they need electrical work, this is the person to rely on for quick and reliable work! read more

A little bit of overconfidence in our abilities led us to Norm! After we accidentally cut the power to half our house while installing a ceiling fan, we frantically searched Yelp late on a Sunday night to see if help was out there. I found Norm with Shining Electric after reading a couple other 5 star reviews for him, and I am glad I did! He answered the phone promptly and even though he couldn't get out to us that night (it was after 7 PM on a Sunday), he arrived first thing Monday morning at 6:30 AM. Within minutes he had diagnosed the problem, made some minor fixes, and even installed the fan for us. I couldn't be happier! His prices were extremely reasonable and he was warm and friendly, which are just added bonuses to us novice homeowners. Thank you Norm - we will definitely be calling you again! read more

The electrician that I've always used seems to have gone out of business, so I had to go hunting for somebody new..as always, Yelp was the place to go. I find that people don't tend to lie about contractors here (unlike restaurant reviews) so it was easy to pick Shining Light Electric out of the crowd. Norm was easy to reach, easy to communicate with, and did a great job installing the new motion sensor security light on the garage as well as moving a pipe with wiring. He'll be making a return visit soon to fix some other things, if you've got one of these old Long Beach houses with ancient wiring you know how that goes. Somehow it just never ends with the things that need replacing because they are 70+ years old. Norm's definitely your guy. read more

We are undergoing a kitchen remodel and called Norm at Shining Light to do a few things before getting construction underway. Norm was WONDERFUL! On time, courteous, professional and clean! He and his helper were very aware of our furnishings and took every precaution to cover things up and they also cleaned up the mess before they left our home. Norm arrived on time for the estimate, sent us a written estimate via email soon thereafter, showed up on time to do the job--clean and efficiently! Thank you Norm for a job well done! I wanted someone to recommend new lighting fixtures and take care of ordering and installing them (previous electricians I called wanted me to get the fixtures myself). Shining Light Electric did all that with flying colors. Norm and his team visited my home four times to complete the job (including the first visit to give an in-person estimate). On each occasion they arrived on time, and were professional and friendly. Plus they did a great job installing my beautiful new track lighting as well as in-cabinet lighting. Summer kept in contact via phone/email/text and was equally friendly and efficient. Highly recommended. read more

Norm is a true professional & very knowledgable in his field. After he was done troubleshooting he advised me it was a problem SCE needed to fix. So Norm patched up the cable so I would have power in my house until SCE could come out. He then made the service call for me. Within 1 hour SCE came out & fixed their problem. I will use Norm's service again & would highly recommend his company to anyone who needs a honest electrician. read more

I met Norm to do an estimate for a panel upgrade because the previous electrician I hired to install recess lights told me that my panel is bad and making some noises. He recommend that I upgrade immediately and gave me the cost. After meeting several electrician contractors for the bid and explained my concern, only Norm told me what the problem was and he immediately took his tools and tightened up all the wire and also fixed the main conduit that came off tigthen that one too. I still need to do an upgrade but it just gave me a peace of mind about my concern until I do my upgrade. He is a honest person. read more

I called S.L.E due to the great Yelp reviews. Norm showed up on the same day, called 30 minutes prior so I could get home, then quickly found and fixed my problem. I won't even consider calling or recommending anyone else in the future. read more

Norm the owner of Shining Light is a very nice man. He quoted me two jobs separately in my house and my patio. I had to have electrical redone on my patio plus I had four lights put in he spent a long time out there and it was very reasonable what he charged me for that job and it looks beautiful. The inside I had my kitchen laundry room entryway and Main bathroom done with LED can lights I had done a remodel 14 years ago and had regular can lights put in and wanted to go with the LED can lights. He did a beautiful job doing that also and was very reasonable. I would recommend Norm Shining Light Electric to everyone that I know because he's honest and reasonable and does a wonderful job thank you Norm for what you did for us. read more

I was need of some electrical work, a few GFI plugs stop working and I was considering adding recess lighting to my bedrooms. Initially i went with the friend of a friend, which was a disaster. I reached out to shining light and they were great. They were able to come out and fix my plugs on short notice and quickly gave me a fair estimate and appointment for the recess lighting. They were efficient and clean! Everyone that I communicate with rather email, phone or in person was pleasant. I will absolutely use them again and refer everyone I know for their electrical work. I had a meltdown of my electrical panel and all the electricians I called were too busy to come take a look at it except for Norm. He came over and temporary got it going. He quoted me a very fair price to upgrade and replace my electrical panel and we set a date to do it. Norm and his crew replaced my panel and added a outlet for a car charger. Norm and his crew were efficient, professional, and friendly. Definitely we will use Shining Light Electric for all our future electrical needs! Thanks Norm and Summer. read more

After being stood up by another electrician on 2 separate days, I contacted Norm (recommended by a neighbor) who fit me into his day within 2 1/2 hours for a breaker that was switching off. He quickly discovered that breaker and another next to it had barely inserted wiring causing them to overheat. This whole panel was installed by a contractor 9 years earlier that also didn't bother to connect a whole house surge protector I bought, they just placed it in the box and tucked the wires behind others! Norm set every thing straight, he even contacted the surge protector manufacturer to consult on installing that for me! He was very fast and even showed up during the COVID-19 pandemic with a mask! It wasn't a big job but he treated it with great respect and I really appreciate it! Thank you Norm! read more
