We also got a side of a basil aioli which we really enjoyed. Drinks were also very good with craft liquors. The margarita was fantastic! Our server was so nice and attentive. It was a great time! It is unpretentious, but we've experienced WAY more divey places than this one. Chiquita's is pretty nice as dive bars go. Our bartender, Jonathan, was friendly and attentive. The drinks were reasonably priced, but don't look for a 200 vodka selection, 50 craft beers or 15 taps. It's got the basic goods, and that was fine for us. It's not a big place and the decor is minimal with a couple of interesting features. Friendly service in the afternoon for a couple of hours (2-4 pm), a jukebox, a pool table, an interesting clientele (probably gay) and located in their El Paso Pride Square where you can walk to the 4-5 (?) other bars (we didn't). I deduct a star for their parking and the bathroom plumbing. We parked on the street with a meter ($2 for two hours). I presume there's other parking at the other bars nearby. The men's room was very clean, but the urinal didn't flush. We probably would have stayed much longer, but we had business to attend to. Next time we're in EP, we'll allow for more time.

So that may be the reason it's listed a a dive bar. If you want a bourbon and Coke or a vodka seven then by all means this is your place. If you want something that requires more than 2 ingredients...keep walking. The drinks were cheap. But really poorly made. My wife asked for a Colorado bulldog. She had been talking about getting one forever. Not only did the bartender have to Google the recipe but he had no coffee liquor and subbed Baileys...uh, ok. My Top shelf vodka martini was half Tito's and half well. I watched him poor it...and I watched him water it down with something from the Coke shooter. You know they aren't keeping Tito's vodka or vermouth in there. There's a jukebox and tiny dance floor but I see more folks just bellying up to the bar here than grooving out on the dance floor. It seemed more a cruise bar and an all day hang out for regulars.

Came back today, was in a bit of a cranky mood and short of patience. I was greeted as I stood up to the bar even though the bartender Moses was insanely busy at the time. I got a menu and a beer quickly, and took a seat. I ordered the brisket tacos, I had remembered them as epic the last time and I was not disappointed. Fresh taste, the brisket was delicious and I cleaned up the 3 tacos within minutes. Washed it down with a cold Dos XX and I was in my food endorphins rich happy place. Literally, everybody in the bar was friendly, everybody's laughing and joking, it just has that great sports bar roadhouse feel. The air smells of good food instead of stale beer, there's the classics of pool and darts, if you can't have a good time here you probably won't be happy anywhere. Shout out to Moses running the front and Jonathan crushing the food in the back. This has to be the first time I have ever been approached by both the bartender and the cook coming to check on me, they both demonstrate the great quality among successful hospitality professionals. Yes, I know this is wordy, but let's just be basic now. The food was friggin great, the beer tasted good, i'm coming back, and I'm bringing others with me.

She will talk about you behind your back to other customers. Even the cook called me the hard "er" if you know what I mean. This was nothing more than a racial scheme to be petty and racist. It's okay, though. I'm used to it but this level or racism is appalling.

I was visiting family for the holidays and my husband and sister in law were trying to find cool…read morespots to grab food, drinks and listen to music. It was a Friday night, we arrived around 8pm and the restaurant was so busy and full of life. Music was blasting, ranging from reggaeton, to regional mexicana/banda, to pop. The prices for the food and drinks were all super cheap as well, so we knew we'd be ordering multiple items. Probably the best item we had was the arrachera quesadilla (can't remember the actual name in the menu for it). Our waiter was a young guy, constantly coming by asking if we wanted to add on to our order. We had multiple rounds of tequila shots and some mixed drinks, but definitely felt like the liquor was watered down. Before we took off, we even danced a couple of songs, giving us a club feel. Overall we loved it so much we had decided to come back the following Tuesday with more family. Well....we were left so disappointed. Everything was completely different. We arrived around 10, figured it being a Tuesday before Christmas Eve, it wouldn't be too busy. It seems that it was a lot busier than the restaurant had expected because they were definitely understaffed. Our waiter probably took 20 minutes to come to us to take our drink order and when he finally did, he stood in one end of the table struggling to hear us from the opposite end over the loud music. Don't understand why he couldn't simply walk over to our side. We waited another 10 minutes to actually get the drinks and for him to come around again to take our food order. Since service was so slow, we tried going straight to the bar and get drinks there, but they wouldn't take our orders because they had to be placed with our waiter. Food was pretty much the same, with the exception of the kitchen running out of multiple items by 11:30. I would have given this place 5 stars on the first visit alone: cheap food and drinks (great food quality for the value), absolutely great ambiance and fast/attentive service. But because we came back again and had such terrible and slow service, I'm giving them 3 stars.
