The maximum open play players is 36 players and you do not need to a membership to play. I called in ahead of time to get my name on the list but it was not required as there were only 18 people on the list at the time I called (1 hour before the open play began). They accept cash or credit card. The courts are well paved and the outside balls have a nice bounce to them. The courts are well spaced apart so there aren't too many instances of other people's balls rolling into the court. The lights were great as they do not blind you when playing due to the fact that the lights are facing upward instead of downward. There were 6 courts (rolling nets) and there were around 25-30 people in attendance so there was not too long ago a wait between games. I was able to play 5 games in the 1.5 hour open play session. There is pretty good intermediate group of players (with a few advanced competition - the pro working there is a 5.3 DUPR) here so that is a plus for more experienced pickleball players. The only complaint is that the pickleball kitchen line is a bit hard to differentiate from the tennis service line. My only wish was that the open play hours was an hour longer but getting to play 5 games in 1.5 hours isn't bad. I would rate this place 4.5/5 due to the pickleball kitchen line issue but I will round up to 5 stars. Will definitely come back!

I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to write a review, but I only love it more now than ever! Don't let the location put you off, it's got 24 hour camera surveillance and in the 3 years that we've been going we have never had any incidents or ever felt unsafe. The instructors here are truly amazing. They clearly care about the children and aren't just going through the motions. We've only had a few of them consistently because my son doesn't deal with change very well, so best to try and keep the surprises to a minimum. Huge thanks to Mr. Jordan & Mr. Grayson; you have both been extremely patient with the twins & they continue to exceed my expectations every week! My daughter has her float test tomorrow so I'll have to come back and update this post once she passes! **Update January, 16, 2020 -- She passed! I'm so proud of her and how far she's come. Next, her twin brother! He had a scare last summer so he's a bit behind her, but he's slowly getting more comfortable with floating and we're all confident that he'll be able to do his test later this year.** The float test is a milestone every child has to complete to move from the Goldfish level to the Seahorse level. They first have a mock test wearing shoes & get put in the middle of the pool (either jumping off of the tower in the middle of the pool, or thrown playfully), once they land in the water they are to turn over onto their backs by themselves and float (with a gentle current provided by the instructor) to the wall. They are to then find the wall with their hand, turn upright & stand up on their own. The real test is the same but they are fully clothed. It's such an important skill & I feel so much more confident having my children in any pool knowing they know what to do should they accidentally fall in. Houston Swim Club has 5 locations; Sharpstown, Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, & Cypress. They also offer unlimited makeups so we're now on AutoPay and don't ever have to worry about losing our spots in our preferred class time. We swim year round in their indoor pool where the lessons are always held & the garage style doors are fully closed when it's cold and open when it's nice and warm. Parents/caregivers can watch in one of the two viewing rooms available or outside when the garage doors are open. Swimming is very near & dear to me since I grew up swimming competitively & then coached young children through my high school & college years. In reality, you just need to pay attention to whether or not your kid and their teacher are a good match. My son was with one teacher for almost year with very slow progress and no float test pass. I think it was due to the combo of teacher being more cautious type and my son being more scared type. He was a 4 almost 5 year old in a class with 3 years olds. Anyway, it was my fault for not paying more attention and switching him to another class sooner. He is did great with his new teacher and passed his float test (finally). We had to switch him again recently due to scheduling conflicts and I will be more attentive to his progress from now on.

Downtown is cool, but Clay Road really nails an environment built for every fitness level, from beginners to people moving serious weight. The Facilities: Right on par with downtown and Augusta in terms of quality and upkeep. The Staff: Tops across the board. Friendly, welcoming, and leagues ahead of the attitude you run into at some other locations. If I'm picking where to put in work, Clay Road wins out every time. 5 stars without hesitation.

I was sweaty and do not like sharing sweaty seats with strangers (I clean the machine before and after to avoid sharing sweat), plus I had seen her hog multiple machines at once. I told her no and she was incredibly entitled and rude. She then went to go get Ricky to get me to rotate with her and he was accusatory from the start. He immediately went to a "I'm the boss" mentality and told me that I need to be more respectful to the lady without even bothering to understand the situation. He escalated the situation immediately while being ignorant to what was going on. As manager, I would expect him to at least try to deescalate matters before picking sides. Instead, he tried to tell me what to do and say, when it was the other party who had been rude to me from the start. I got his name and as I was leaving he was yelling stuff at me about how I needed to act. I do not appreciate such false and inappropriate statements being publicized to the rest of the members and staff. Ricky needs to be retrained on basic client treatment. Truly baffled that such a boorish and tactless man is in management. CLIENTS BEWARE, this is the man that the owners refer you to when you have a complaint.

The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, and if you buy the X-Life add-on to your membership, it's well worth it if you eat at the restaurant at least a few times per month. Special weekly events, like Tasting Tuesdays and Pasta Night on Thursdays, add variety by offering items not on the regular menu. The outdoor restaurant, the Tourn, often has live music and other events. Like most community pools, there are teenage lifeguards who are very attentive and provide breaks throughout the sessions to keep the pool behavior in check. I appreciate that they're doing a solid job keeping an eye on things while still helping cultivate a laid-back atmosphere. The water is clean and there are lots of youngins running around. A big tip would be to bring a fly deterrent and bug spray just in case. Try not to sit near the trees as those tables are subject to get inundated by flies. I made the mistake of bringing a lot of different foods which in turn brought on lots of bugs. Overall this is a solid neighborhood pool spot. The $5 admission won't break the bank and it's cheaper than many other Community pools. It's hardly luxury, but it is a convenient and affordable option. Pack lots of bug spray and be weary of flies.

Mulberry Park is one of several parks in Bellaire. It's a little tough to see from the street but once you spot it, drive all the way down and you'll find a spacious parking lot. Mulberry Park has three tennis courts which is more than the usual one or two you'll find at most parks. Serving like Federer is first come, first served unless you reserve a court ahead of time. You can do so for a small charge on Bellaire's website. Overall, Mulberry Park is a nice small park that also includes a baseball diamond. It's the best spot I've found in town so far for some tennis action!
